For the widget poll, I picked the mid-priced one. Mostly because that’s probably what I’d normally buy regardless of the endorsements – I generally buy stuff that’s not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either.
I was surprised by the results of the widget poll. a $5 savings, even if that is a 16% discount, doesn’t seem worth it for the association of someone icky. On the other hand, an endorsement by a non-expert is near worthless, so why pay more for that?
Yet another poll that doesn’t include my particular circumstances.
I don’t skip tv program intro’s when i watch on streaming, because it’s a pain in
the arse trying to slide the little seek bar thingy to the required location on my set-up.
Feck off discourse. Arse is spelled correctly.
Huh? Virtually every every streaming service I’m familiar with has a “skip intro” button that appears during the intro. Click it and the video skips straight to the end of the intro. No need to mess with the seek bar.
I also don’t understand how the poll doesn’t include your particular circumstances. You never skip the intro, so pick the “Never, I always watch the intro” option. Why does there need to be a special poll option for your specific reason for not skipping the intro?
Well, i want to skip the intro… i don’t watch it so much as endure it !
I don’t think the few streaming services i use (in the UK) have a skip intro … i’ll
look into it. Also, the very few programs we watch don’t have long intros so
i’ve never bothered.
And, in fact i just checked … and there IS a skip intro button !!!
Ok. i’ll change my vote, thanks.
“I always watch the intro” was just meant to differentiate that option from the “I don’t watch streaming shows” option. It’s not meant to imply anything about whether or not you like watching it, just that you do watch streaming shows, and don’t skip the intro.
Yeah. We just walked out side here in CA, and watched a partial eclipse. Where is that in the poll?
That was a tough one. I didn’t vote. “Endorsed” is kinda weird - for example, McDs seems to be loved by trump- but that doesn’t mean I will never eat there (the fact I am not a fan of the food means I rarely eat there anyway). But if “endorsed” means "owned by’ like trump steaks- I would never buy anything from a con-man.
For the endorsement question I was kind of assuming that the person said “Widget x is great” on the record, and that both the person and the company agreed it it could go on the marketing blurb, (whether/how much they were recompensed for their statement being unclear)
I’m a guitarist with maple, ebony and rosewood guitars. Maple and ebony sound sonically almost the same or even identical to me. Rosewood is a darker tone.
Maple is my fave both for the sound but also it’s widely available across a range of instruments. Ebony is much rarer.
I’m a guitarist and I’ve always loved the way maple fretboards look, but I actually prefer to play on rosewood. Most maple necks I’ve ever played just feel… not quite right to me.
I had a rosewood strat, and it never sounded good to me. Too woody/growly. Now I have a maple strat and I’m
I still have a balance on a couple of credit cards, but by the end of the month, I’ll have zero balances all, but one. That one will have a credit due to some points I cashed in.
Just got back from a day of driving to see the eclipse. We had a nice time driving and listening to one of the Slow Horses books, and seeing Vermont.
I just got back from a day of driving to see the eclipse, too. Google lied to me, and added an extra 3 hours to our return trip.
It was a great day, though, and we had a terrific view of the eclipse. I saw one before, but we had mediocre weather then. We had perfect clear skies today. One friend brought special solar binoculars, and we looked at sun spots for a while when there was just a little bite missing from the sun. Then we played with crescent shadows, and finally we watched the sun blink out and looked at the corona. Then we had a moment of diamond ring, and the sun returned.
Is the diamond ring that brief moment when just a small bit of sun shows up? Because that was my favorite part
Yes, just a moment of brilliance.
I knew what that poll meant, but didn’t vote because the answer varies (let the chips fall where they may), and of course there was no Other.
We live in southern MA, and innocently set out for a northern town, St Johnsbury, at 8AM, and the GPS showing three hours, twenty-five minutes. Mysteriously (not really) however the further north we advanced, not only did that time not diminish, but sometimes it increased significantly. At some point we bailed and veered NW towards Waterbury, but we didn’t even reach that, opting instead for the quaintly ugly capital city of Montpelier. But it was fun! We ended up amongst a bunch of friendly strangers.
Instead of going directly back, we drove south for a while and then stopped at a Chili’s and had a long leisurely dinner. That seemed to do the trick.
Still COMPLETELY clueless about the dressing poll. Was it an attempt to whoosh everybody or something? Involve a pun or in-joke or such?
You might only know it if you have had a tailored suit/pants.
