Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

It hasn’t snowed here since 2006.

There’s never snow on the ground where I live.

A couple of times in my long life, we’ve had a bit of tiny hail that always melts as it hits the ground.

Same here, but there is indeed snow on the ground where I am now, unfortunately.
I live in Henderson, NV and am in the middle of a two-week job in Indianapolis. Not where I would have chosen to spend half of December.

We occasionally get snow. Maybe once or twice a year. (Puget Sound region) Sometimes hit hard, but that’s rare. Today, it’s sunny and 55. No complaints from me.

It was 33 celsius a few hours ago (Google tells me that’s 91.4 Fahrenheit), so I doubt a snowflake would have time to even reach the ground

Supposed to be snow tonight. Maybe 3 inches. I may be driving in it unfortunately.

We’re having a shockingly (disturbingly?) warm December here in Colorado - that said, we had 6-7" of snow just over a week ago, and it remains in any shaded area, including around my house where I piled it up after shoveling, and near my trees.

It is snowing in Western Pa right now.
Forecast keeps changing but anywhere from 2 - 5 inches is the current meteorological palaver.

I’d rather have the snow.

YMMV.

So do I!

I’m in California, so snow where I am would be very unusual. But from certain spots on the freeway I can see the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevadas in the distance. I’d likely encounter snow if I drove east for an hour or two.

Plenty of catastrophic flooding, no snow.

California: where you can swim outside in the morning and ski in the afternoon.

(I think. I never actually tried it, when I was out there years ago; only the swimming part.)

Whoops, simulpost. @susan, hope you’re OK.

Thanks. I am, but a lot of communities are not. We checked the neighborhood flood history before we bought a house.

I’ve been glad, a number of times since I moved here, that I bought the place on high ground and not the farm in the bend of the Susquehanna River.

I wonder, occasionally, whether that place is still there.

Turned out to be about 7 inches. Wet heavy snow. Now it’s ice. Should be gone by the end of the week.

Razor blades (from Harrys.com). That’s all I can think of, other than actual magazine subscriptions.

(Oh, and for six months earlier this year, I was getting snacks from different countries, via Universal Yums).

Wow 7 inches is a lot. And ice is treacherous.

I think we got about 4 where I live.
Managed to find someone on Facebook to shovel my snow.
It is supposed to warm up into the upper 40s later in the week thankfully.

I chose Other because we tried using the Amazon subscription service, but disenrolled after several rounds of late delivery or Amazon simply canceling the order until the next cycle, saying the item(s) weren’t available. Quite inconvenient. We found that if we ordered the items they deferred to the next cycle individually, we’d receive them (from the same seller!) in 1-2 days.

I use Chewy’s Autoship, but I pretty well never just wait for a shipment to arrive. I always have to tweak it to add or subtract something, and order sooner or after my set delivery date. It’s essentially become online shopping with a tinny discount.
