Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 2)

Yeah, my first thought was, “huh, what’s even remarkably about that?” But then i thought, maybe they cut me off, maybe they were playing lane games. So i ending up voting “it depends”, but maybe i should have just taken it at face value and said, “no”.

I need thar question rephrased in car lengths

You are the DNC or RNC. At what point do you step in and intervene to put in a fresh new candidate instead of Trump/Biden?

I said never, because I don’t know of anything the DNC or RNC could do to accomplish this. It’s up to the candidates and the voters.

Especially not in this era. Fifty or sixty years ago, when the real power was with the committees, and at the convention itself, it might have been possible. Now, with the selection process essentially turned over entirely to the voters, there’s damned little they could do to force a candidate out.

This. (Didn’t vote.)

If the RNC could do so, Trump wouldn’t have been nominated in 2016. By '20, he had the party by the short hairs; but he didn’t yet in early 2016.

Also, it would depend on what I thought of Biden’s physical and mental condition; not on the number assigned to his years.

Yup. But not in this century.

Even if they could force a candidate out a lot would depend on how Biden / Trump would respond. If they would stand as an independent they would probably get enough votes for the election to result in an election loss.

The committees could encourage some popular young up-and-comers to run in the primaries. That would, I suppose, count as “intervening,” but it’s far from a sure thing.

Right, The DNC does not have the kind of power people think it has, and the RNC now is just another trump grift.

I dont think Biden would run again.

I took the Myers-Briggs test so long ago that I’ve forotten my type. I think INFJ or INFP but don’t hold me to that.

I’ve taken the Myers-Briggs several times. FWIW, I always get ENFP as my result.

Never took the Myers-Briggs. Seems like hokum to me.

That’s just the kind of thing an INTJ would say.

(Seems like hokum to me too.)

Yeah, IMO, it’s probably only slightly more valid than astrology, but it was very commonly used in the business world until not all that long ago, which is why I’ve taken it several times.

I don’t remember my type. I do remember that my introversion/extroversion depends a lot on how the questions are worded and how I feel that day

ENTJ or ENTP I tested as both so basically it’s a wash on that last.

I took the Briggs-Myers many moons ago. I remember thinking, yeah, I guess that kinda sounds like me. But I have no earthly idea what the letters were or what they mean, and I’ve never had any use whatsoever for the information.

I have never heard of Briggs or Myers so i picked one at random.

The same is true for me. But i felt extroverted when i took the poll, so i voted the E option.

I didn’t think it’s hokum. I think corporations having teams do that is a form of diversity training. The point is that people navigate the world in different ways and can be effective in different ways. And you, oh manager, need to think about how to use the people you have effectively, rather than trying to force them to be like you.

There are other personality traits they could have picked, but these are all ones that are relevant in a working environment. When i managed, i sometimes found it a helpful framework to think about team dynamics.

You’ve cracked the secret, and pass the test.

Which suit I wear depends on how I’m swimming. If I’m swimming recreationally, AKA piddling around in the ocean or pool, I’ll wear baggies. If I’m swimming for exercise, I have a pair of speedos (not those kind of speedos, no one needs to see that. )
