I keep one suit for funerals, otherwise all that went away years ago, pretty long before retirement, when my company went business casual.
I wear a utilikilt most of the time. It is not a “dress”, rather, a skirt. I kind of wonder if the poll would have had different results if the distinction had been made (a “dress” is an entire garment, while a skirt is an alternative to trousers, worn with a shirt or top).
I haven’t owned a suit in decades. I don’t even have any non-patterned shirts that can be worn with a tie.
“Sorry, your honor. This jury member is wearing Hawaiian shirts. Period.”
I have to wear a suit in court. So, it’s not a weekly, or monthly thing. It’s more like “every day for 3 weeks and then not at all for 6 or 12 weeks.” I do have to put on the top half of a suit for zoom hearings, which could be 2 to 4 times per month. I have a shirt and suit jacket hanging in my office for times like that.
I never noticed this phenomenon until I read this column:
Why does asparagus make your pee smell funny? - The Straight Dope.
Since then, I have indeed noticed the described effect. I think it’s Cecil’s fault.
Ditto. I have two dresses, and wear them to weddings and bar mitzvahs. That’s less than annually. I also have a suit that i wear to funerals, also less than annually, although growing more common as i age.
Currently I have a black suit and a navy blue suit. The navy blue one is new and I wore it when I got married last year. Between the two of them they are suitable (sorry) for any formal occasion.
I do have lots of ties. When I was a detective the usual attire was shirt and tie no jacket. Technically I have a few other suits but they are Army dress uniforms with flair that I keep for sentimental reasons.
I just created this thread on the delights (or lack) of black licorice.
My mother used to buy it occasionally, and I developed a taste for it. My oldest brother also loves it.
NOBODY else that I know IRL likes the stuff. The family was horrified when the topic came up. I developed anosmia / ageusia when I had COVID in 2022, just long enough to be interesting; as an experiment, I tried some black licorice and it was quite disappointing.
This person, on the other hand, found that he LOVED the stuff when he had COVID.

I own a suit; the last time I wore it was my sister’s wedding about a year and a half ago. The jacket didn’t exactly fit anymore, but I wore it anyway because I’m too cheap to buy another one that I’m not likely to wear again for years.
I own a dress which I wear to weddings and funerals. Sometimes I don’t wear it to those, depending on what I think other people are going to be wearing.
Voted “almost never”. I agree that it should be a separate category than “never”.
I hope the results of the asparagus poll match the results of the identical poll from last October.
Oops, I didn’t remember that one. I usually do a search, but neglected that this time.
If it was Benedict XVI, I wonder if he said “Gesundheit”?
I’m in court every weekday, so I’m in a suit (or sport coat) five times a week. Six, if I go to church, which I usually do.
Never noticed that asparagus changed my pee’s smell.
I could take or leave black licorice. I’m not a licorice fan generally, but have no particular objection to the black variety.
eschereal, you should compare notes with BMalion. He has a utilikilt, too, and once wore it to a DopeFest. We challenged him to see how many bottles of beer it could accommodate; I think the final count was 14.
It used to be believed that some people’s metabolism cause their urine to smell different after eating asparagus, and other people’s metabolism was different and didn’t result in that smell. This was based on surveys that asked people about the smell of their own urine. I think it was relatively recently that it was discovered that the smell of everyone’s urine is affected, but some people have a genetic quirk that makes them unable to smell it. So self-reporting about this turned out to be unreliable.
I generally like licorice but it would not be my first choice in candy.
I called him Cheek-o for years, but recently learned that it’s supposed to be Chick-o, so I’m trying to adjust.

I would have made “never” and “almost never” separate options
Yes. And as a protest i selected 2 contradictory answers.
(I don’t think anyone’s noticed though.)
I have my “interview suit”, which I wear about twice a year or more.
I open way too many threads. I’m not entirely sure I wouldn’t open even the ones that I voted that I wouldn’t.
I wouldn’t open all of the ones I voted for for the same sort of reason.
I could rewrite that last sentence, and arguably should, to get that “for for” out of there. But I decided that I kind of like it.

I have my “interview suit”, which I wear about twice a year or more.
Do you wear your “birthday suit” just once a year?
