Discussion thread for the "Polls only" thread (Part 3)

I guess it depends on the definition of “goes by.” When asked what my name is I say my full first name but in reality almost everyone calls me by a shortened version of it.

I will turn 63 next month. I don’t feel old every minute of every day. Nevertheless, I voted “old” because I think 63 objectively is old. And because various parts of me ache a lot more these days, I don’t move as fast as I used to, and - dammit - sometimes I forget things that I know I once knew.
Sigh…

I will also turn 63 next month. I am around a lot of people in their 70s and 80s, and believe me, I’m a lot more active and spry than they are. I don’t feel old yet.

Anyone who refers to themselves as “spry” is old.

I’m 75 and I feel old.

Some of it’s the heart condition. But some of it’s probably being 75. Hard to tell for sure which is which.

I’m still more active than a lot of people younger than me. But the energy level just isn’t there, and the assorted aches are.

Eh, I’m in better health and shape than I was in my 50s. Free time’ll do that for you.

Chronologically I’ll be 65 in November. Mentally I’m about 12, most days. I certainly do not consider myself old even if I look like a tubby ol’ broad. Physically I’m not where I was in my 20s, or even 40s, but I’m up and going at 5:30 every day, take care of my mini farm, work a full time retail job, come home and do chores, and then go to bed at 10 or so to sleep like a log and do it all again the next day.

I refuse to be old.

I will turn 70 this year. It’s weird being the same age as old people.

I am 38. In terms of maturity, I feel only 28. Which is not a good thing.

I am rooting for several teams. My nation’s team is not one of them.

You never saw Edith Prickley? She was on quite a bit. IIRC she was the “owner” of the station.

Eh, 0-30 is young, 30-60 is middle aged, and 60+ is old.

I’m around a of people in their 80s and I’m certainly younger and healthier than they are. I also hang out with college kids and 30-something friends. They are just younger than i am. And it’s much more obvious than when i was 45 and hanging out with 20-something friends.

I think 70+ is old. Of course, that still means I am old.

Well, really, 60-90 is old and 90+is bonus years.

Re: World Cup… What kind of question is that?

I’m rooting for the good ol’ USA, but only in an abstract way. It would be nice to beat the Europeans or South Americans at their own game. But I am not interested in watching a soccer game.

It tends to irritate me when someone is almost gleefully dismissive of something I enjoy, so I say this with absolutely no animosity or derision toward anyone who is into soccer in general and the World Cup in particular:

I have no interest whatsoever in the World Cup, and don’t care at all who wins.

I am the same with any and all pro sports.

There are lots of sports that I don’t care about, but I can still be pleased when the home team, or a home town Olympic athlete (or whatever) wins.

Soccer is fun to watch live and very boring to watch on tv. I’ll be rooting for USA and may catch some of their matches but I doubt I’ll watch any of the others. I’m very thankful I live in a different part of the state from where the final will be played. It will be ridiculous already but now I hear Trump wants to be at the final because of course he does.
