Those who didn’t. It’s clearly the best. I think ring-y Saturn and “Big Red Spot” Jupiter just have better PR.
Yes, this. I don’t remember ever seeing any “‘Unread’ item in the top bar.”
What are people talking about?
If I have a page open in New or in Latest, at the top righthand of the page it says New, Latest, Top with whatever page I’m on highlighted. Sometimes it also says Unread. Sometimes it doesn’t. I haven’t figured out any pattern to it.

I do get a number that shows up attached to my avatar if someone’s replied to me.
— wait a minute. In that list of new, latest, top, and sometimes unread, there’ll be a number in parentheses next to everything but latest, showing how many threads there are in that category. And the page I’m in will be highlighted in yellow. But I don’t have a standalone just of unread, and the only thing yellow is the one that I’m in. And sometimes unread isn’t visible at all, even when there’s posts in it and I’m reading new or latest.
I never liked Star Dreck. I recognized a few of the names but can’t tell you $#!+ about any of 'em. Didn’t vote.

I don’t think i spend enough time on that page to notice, one way or another.
I’m fine with public polls, but they’re not a big preference. I vote in them if the poll interests me, and otherwise don’t vote, same as always. Very rarely, there’s a public poll that I’m not comfortable answering, that I may have answered if it was private. But again, very rarely.
Saturn, Jupiter, and Neptune, in that order, but they’re all very close for me, and by the percentages for the majority of the board.

Star Trek remote learning and guesting - Romulans for both. While it’s a gross generalization, Romulans are Lawful Neutral to Lawful Evil, and that sort of predictability would make me more confortable (I’m Lawful Neutral myself). In terms of visiting their culture, the food culture would be a big deal. Klingon food seems very challenging, Borg food is probably nutrient paste at best, Cardassians are probably fine, but I don’t know much of them (I didn’t watch much DS9), and I don’t trust Ferengi at all (not to mention, I dislike much of the depiction of the species as embracing certain… tropes… I’m not comfortable with).
As for slow drinking terminology, I’ve always heard of it as nursing, but to quote Emo Phillips:
“I was at a bar nursing a beer. My nipple was getting quite soggy.”

Re the Star Trek cultural exchange:
- Ferengi: I wouldn’t want to visit Ferenginar, which has terrible weather and food (beetle grubs, anyone?). The residents seem to be interested in nothing but making a quick buck, and even those who have lived off-world for years, with one or two exceptions, haven’t come around to altruism or even basic decency. Hosting a Ferengi for six months isn’t going to change his mind.
- Klingons: More bad food, plus dank ships and a culture obsessed with combat and bravado. Hard pass for me on an exchange, either as a host or a guest.
- Borg: I can’t imagine living on a Borg cube among mindless drones would be any fun. But hosting one on Earth might be fun; every time we’ve seen one disconnected from the hive mind (Hugh, Seven of Nine) it hasn’t worked out too bad.
- Romulans: Clearly a cultured people, though perhaps a bit too arrogant, distrustful, and backstabby for my tastes. Then again, directly observing the internal political intrigue on Romulus might be fun. A distant second choice (either hosting or guesting).
- Cardassian: A planet of great writers and orators, but with some of the same problems as the Romulans. Their national liqueur, kanar, intrigues me. I’d love to host or be hosted by someone like Garak.
It was supposed to be, yes. It’s in the same vein as this one.
What do Klingons eat?
Gagh (live worms) and warm blood wine. If those sound good to you, Wikipedia has a list of other appetizing Klingon dishes.
Anything that doesn’t eat them.
I have a rudimentary knowledge of the Klingon language. It would be cool to practice with a native speaker.
