Highly tangential, but in the series Supernatural they mention in one episode how a monster has already attacked in the towns of Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook. A funny touch by some script writer.
That’s a funny easter egg. I guess those places would all be full of weak-willed people – easy for a monster to dominate.
Oh, yeah, I have a UCLA alumni license plate frame. Forgot that.
I was addicted for a while to the buttered popcorn flavored jelly bellies. Had to go cold turkey.
Those are the only ones I don’t like. Next time I will mail them all to you.
If you heat up the turkey JB & put some gravy on them…mmmmm, magnifique!
LOL. Please do!
Andy Weir: I’ve only read The Martian and Project Hail Mary.
I preferred the execution of The Martian and the story of Project Hail Mary. I find Weir’s books to be delightfully inventive, humorous, inspiring, and full of hamfisted, repetitive prose. These defects in prose bothered me more in Project Hail Mary, but…
I think the story of Project Hail Mary is among my all-time favorite in science fiction.
I voted something else, in order my Weir favorites are:
- The Egg
- The Martian
- Project Hail Mary
With Artemis a very distant four.
There should have been a “Who’s Andy Weir?” option because I’ve never heard of him before the poll.
Same here, until The Martian was mentioned. I had read it and watched the film. But the name was a “huh?” to me.
Who the hell is Andy Weir?
ETA: Oops, should have scrolled up a bit. That’s 3 votes.
My reaction was, “OMG, the guy who did this Hail Mary thing everyone’s talking about also did Casey & Andy?!!”
Maybe, just maybe the guy who wrote the things listed?
Didja read the whole reply, specifically the part where I wrote
Maybe, just maybe the poll could have included an option for people unfamiliar with the man or his work? I recognized the name of 2 movies on the list. That’s not enough information to deduce that he’s a writer.
