They don’t
But they are more fun if they are public. “Six random people like anchovies” is boring. "This got whose posts interest you likes anchovies, too " is interesting . And if you are willing to post here about whether you like anchovies, why not answer the poll?
I like anchovies in moderation. I like some beers in some circumstances. I like a few whiskeys, but almost never drink them. I enjoy foods with tofu, but the first time i visited Japan, i discovered that really fresh tofu is tasty but itself (and I’d only ever had old stale tofu.)
Nope. I realize we skew how we skew but it’s not six random people like anchovies, it’s six out of ___ of us like {whatever}, & while this one is benign there are others that are more telling & not info that I’m going to share. I look because he has occasionally (slipped up &) put an anonymous one out there, but the vast majority of times, if I see a poll by mmm, I know I just scroll right past it because I know I’m not going to answer it.
I have had really fresh tofu (and I know it was because I watched my friends make it) and still found it tasteless. Sometimes the stuff people have soaked it in tastes good, though.
— it occurs to me, however, that maybe they were making it from old stale beans. This was a long time ago and I don’t know where the beans came from; soybeans for human consumption are certainly grown around here now but I don’t think they were then and what did make its way here might not have been high quality.
Well, one poster makes almost all of his public, which i dont understand why.
Yep. So we get a skewed answer, and why does he want that?
As for 'chovies- once in a while i like a slice- one slice- of anchovy pizza, and of course as part of ceasar salad dressing.
I like really two beers- Ice cold- really ice cold- Pacifico. I developed a taste for it on a long Baja fishing trip. And Guiness- but it makes me sleepy.
That’s what I meant, they don’t have to be public but one person always does it that way. I can only think he saved a public poll as the base & then copies that in & changes the details for each one. I fully admit that I couldn’t write a poll from scratch, meaning I need to look at another one to remember, or copy, what goes in the code line
I still dont know why these have to be public??

What are your specific objections to public polls? Genuinely curious.
mmm
You can make a poll by clicking the little “plus in a circle” and then “build poll”. It takes an extra step to make it public.
I support public polls for silly things like “do you like anchovies” because i think it makes the results much more interesting. I don’t understand the allergic reaction to public polls here. Sure, I’m not going to answer where i live or how much money i make or whether I’ve cheated on my husband in a public poll. But whether i like anchovies? Why not?

+1
I’m not going to answer where i live or how much money i make or whether I’ve cheated on my husband in a public poll
Well, telling us that you’re not going to tell us whether you’ve cheated
on your husband tells us all we need to know !!

Perfectly stated.
mmm
I like pretty much all of the Muppets but my nostalgic sweet spot for them preceded The Muppet Show so my selections are all from the Sesame Street cast.
How could you list the horrible Pepe the King Prawn & miss Rizzo the Rat?
I never watched the Muppet show, except maybe clips from specials. So mine are also based on the original cast. And on earlier versions of some, as they made some changes over time.
Yes, I’m ancient.

Rizzo is on there. I personally love Pepe.
Scred. Followed closely by The Mighty Favog, who ‘danced’ by pulling his face in.
(Of course the SNL Muppets count!)

Somebody missed him, but it ain’t me. ![]()
mmm
I haven’t watched The Muppets very much, but I’ve always liked “La Rana René” (Kermit the Frog).
Somebody missed him, but it ain’t me.
mmm
The sad thing is that I missed him in the poll, and then again when I double-checked before making my post!
I get Elmo, but what baggage is weighing down Big Bird in that poll?
