“All bastards are bastards, but some bastards is bastards.”

This is the last Rincewind adventure (at least, that we’ve had in a long time); what do you think?

Ridcully was to management what King Herod was to the Bethlehem Playgroup Association. His mental approach to it could be visualised as a sort of business flowchart with, at the top, a circle entitled “Me, who does the telling” and, connected below it by a line, a large circle entitled “Everyone else”.

I never was that big a Rincewind fan to begin with, and this book took me three readings to get the slightest appreciation for. The main plot plods, the “B” plot sags, and the whole ending was as iffy as a 2 week old prawn. Pretty much a rehash of every Rincewind joke told before.

Skip it if you’re a casual reader of the Disc. Only for the completeist.

We’ve had this one.

I’ll ask a mod to lock this one and set up the next one…
