Do green candy strings exist?

This thread is as mundane and pointless as they come, but here goes.

Remember licorice strings? I only remember two colors, black and red. But has anyone out there ever seen green candy strings? The flavor is not important, just the color.

I am in the process of planning a gingergread structure. Tentatively titled “Pavilions of Rivendell”, it will be a series of gazebo like structures, with gardens, a fountain, and a pool or small stream. I want some vines twining around pillars and some of the canopies that will shelter garden paths. I have available some green sugar dusted flat candy ribbons that could be thinly sliced into vines. But if simple strings are out there I would prefer them.

So far a googling search has not yielded what I want, which is not surprising as I am not sure anything like it exists. But about three years ago a Doper helped me find blue hard candies, which I needed for “stained glass”, so I thought my fellow Dopers might be of assistance yet again. Thanks for listening!

I used to buy green licorice ropes when I was a kid. They tasted like toothpaste. They were quite skinny, about the thickness of the wire on my CD-player’s headphones. Is that what you’re looking for?

I don’t know if these are the right color or length…

And here I thought that green strings were a special case of string theory:

God, I love the SDMB!!! I tried quite a number of word combinations while doing a search for what I could see in my head. When that proved fruitless I turned to the Teeming Millions, and what do you know?

IrreverentTone, that second link is exactly what I was visualizing. The first was good too, but the second even better. I will probably order some tomorrow and hope they get here in time. Postage to the USA will end up costing more that the candy itself, but for once I don’t care.

roxx222. the thickness you mentioned is about right. QED, the belts are what I could get locally. I will be buying some of those too, to cut up for tiny leaves on the “vines”

Thanks everyone! I only wish I could visit the store itself, it looks fantastic. Oh well, got to find the credit card so I can buy some postage, I mean, candy!
