Exactly, I was trying to apply a gentle but firm guiding hand. After all, I didn’t become a moderator because I thought it would be fun to play hall monitor, even if that is necessary once in awhile. We do get some real jerks and trolls, but if someone’s obviously under the influence–while we don’t encourage regularly posting drunk–that person is probably not a jerk, normally, and they don’t need to be knocked down.
nicole, as for other British expressions we would rather not see? I honestly believe c*** is unique in this regard; I can’t think of any other peculiarly British (or otherwise non-North American usages) that have this issue.
