Do you carry a pocket knife?

Just mentioned it in Belrix’s other thread, but after years of hauling around a brick-sized Swiss Army knife or Leatherman, I’ve finally gone minimalist with a Utili-Key.

It’s got everything I need on a regular basis: combo blade, bottle opener, a couple of flatheads, and a medium Philips.

It’s smaller than my car’s ignition key. Hell, I could probably sneak it on to a plane, if I had the balls.

Yes – your basic Swiss Army Knife. Have it for about 15 years now and use it all the time.

Yup, don’t leave home without it.

The little Victorinox. Own four of them, one gets standard duty, one gets formal duty, two are semi-retired (the sissor springs are broken on those two).

Yep. I used to carry a good ol’ Buck 110, but it’s like carrying a cinder block in your pocket. Now I alternate between my Gerber EVO and an assisted opening CRKT My Tighe.

Based on a web search, the knife I described is apparently a Swiss Army Signature Lite knife. I recommend it as it’s not too big to carry in one’s pocket but with tools I find useful every day (unlike some of the big knives with tools that are rarely, if ever, used).

Yes.

Yep, I carry myGerber Mini-Paraframe pretty much everywhere but airports and courthouses.

Yes, I carry a small keychain-sized Swiss Army knife, and sometimes a 4" folding knife. In my car I have a regular-size Swiss Army knife with things like screwdrivers, toothpick, and magnifying glass. All come in handy from time to time.

Usually a Buck 110 in a belt pouch and a Buck “Gentlemans” in the pocket. Unless I am going some place new and then I switch to a Frost or something like that. There have been days I have sometimes had to throw my pocket knife (even mini-Swiss keyring models) away and/or risk losing it to security. And that Buck has been with me for more than 30 years; I’m a little attached to it.

Swiss Army Gadgeteer DeLuxe, here.

I wish I could customize it.

I’s swap the silly cargo hook (useless, to my view) for a nailfile.

But it is a damnfine pocketknife.

I have probably 6 or 7 of the classic 5-function models lying around: black, green, red, translucent blue, translucent red, silver, grey. I always have one in my pocket, except when I go to the airport. Always always always.

No. I’ve been tempted to, but never get around to buying one, and it’s rare that I have any use for one anyways.

My father always carries his, but for him it’s more of a work tool. I don’t know what kind he uses, but I do know they’re cheap ones–he has a tendency of losing them overboard so there’s no point in getting something expensive.

Yep. Got a Beretta model 92 serrated tanto for my birthday this year. Sharp little bugger, too.

Yes. A few years ago when there was Rochester NY to Toronto ONT fast ferry, the powers that be confiscated the one in my pocket. A funny bright yellow single blade with the “Stanley” tool logo on it. They put it in a bag and said I could pick it up on my return. As I walked up the boarding ramp to the boat, I pulled another knife out of my carry bag.

Did get the “Stanley” knife back. Had to lie and tell them that was my name on it. Bozo never heard of Stanley Tools. Sheltered life!

Yep, I got about a zillion different ones but my current favorite EDC is a Benchmade “Benchmite”. Extremely sharp!

Benchmite

As often as I can, legaly and practically. You never know when a knife is going to come in handy.

Just a simple, small, single-blade knife, with a surgically sharp edge and a useful shape. I don’t need any more than that.

I’ve been carrying a light, thin Schrade Simon for a few years, but I feel like changing to something else one of these days.

I’m a collector, and I’m never without a pocket knife of some kind.

I’ve carried a Swiss Army knife of one model or another since my old Scouting days. When it’s not in my pocket (a very rare condition usually only brought on by air travel or other silly security protocols) I tend to feel like some important appendage is suddenly and inexplicably missing. I use mine frequently, often without concious thought. Be it a stray thread or a loose screw (don’t go there) the solution is never further than my front left pocket.

JOhn.

Add me to the mini Swiss army knife crowd.

Yes. Leatherman Wave; It always seats snuggly in its case next to my wallet.

But I’m really glad there’s another pocket knife thread. You see, on one of the last poketknife threads about a year or so back, someone mentioned the coolness that is the SOG flash. I had mentioned it to a then co-worker and she decided to order one. I was intrigued and gave her cash & said “Cool! Get me one too.” When it came in, I was neatly impressed, except by two things. One, she had gotten SOG Flash 2s instead of SOG Flash 1s. And I’m not so sure they are a legal length in NJ. That and while the assisted-opening thing is Really really neat…I’m not 100% sure that its legal in NJ either. She said “Don’t be a wimp” and put hers in her purse. I thanked her & quickly transported mine home after work.

So, I have this really neat SOG Flash2. I’m just not sure if its legal to ever take it outside of my house. (lol)
