Do you carry a pocket knife?

Yes. Leatherman Wave; It always seats snuggly in its case next to my wallet.

But I’m really glad there’s another pocket knife thread. You see, on one of the last poketknife threads about a year or so back, someone mentioned the coolness that is the SOG flash. I had mentioned it to a then co-worker and she decided to order one. I was intrigued and gave her cash & said “Cool! Get me one too.” When it came in, I was neatly impressed, except by two things. One, she had gotten SOG Flash 2s instead of SOG Flash 1s. And I’m not so sure they are a legal length in NJ. That and while the assisted-opening thing is Really really neat…I’m not 100% sure that its legal in NJ either. She said “Don’t be a wimp” and put hers in her purse. I thanked her & quickly transported mine home after work.

So, I have this really neat SOG Flash2. I’m just not sure if its legal to ever take it outside of my house. (lol)

I carry a Kershaw Ken Onion Chive. I love the assisted-opening blade that snaps open with the touch of a finger - there’s nothing more convenient than a one-handed knife.

I’ve carried a Swiss Army Knife since about 1979. Used it this morning to change license plates; countless times in countless ways over the years. Surprisingly often, somebody has a bottle of wine and forgot about a corkscrew. Also got a small Sheffield multi-tool on my key chain.

Victorinox Classic. Used to always be in my right hand pants pocket. Not so much anymore. Since I travel quite a bit, I always have to remember to remove it from my keychain before I go through the airport inspection line. Sometimes I forget and I just give up my knife. No big deal since I had a bunch of these Classics. Now that I’m down to only a few knives, I just don’t bother carrying one anymore. And to my surprise, I really don’t miss it.

Yup. I have a Leatherman Squirt p4 on my keychain (it’s like the Micra, but with a small set of pliers instead of scissors.) I also have a slightly larger and more tool-laden Victorinox in my car.

I mean…what if I had to an emergency appendectomy on someone lying in the street? I’ll need my pocketknife!

NO… I do not

Same reason that I don’t wear a watch… In urban settings, I don’t need a watch, as anyone can tell ,me what time it is… If I need a cord cut, or some such task, I know some leatherman wearing joe will be delighted to provide a sharp edge as required.

In thje wild, I carry a leatherman and some henke blades, plus a wire former and a roll of wire…
FML

Why yes, yes I do–and thanks to the 'Dope and especially Phlosphr I’ve got one I really love.

Count Blucher owns 3 Leatherman Waves.
Who’da thunk it?

Another Victorinox guy here. I wear a Huntsman model on my keychain. Actually, I just got this one a few weeks ago as my old one was getting banged up and it was Father’s Day.

So there’s one on my key’s downstairs and two staring at me on my desk right here.

Daily carry is a CRKT M1614LE, which you can see here . Her name’s Vera.
In addition to that, I have a Leatherman Micra and a SwissBit with the red LED and 512MB memory stick. The ballpoint pen comes in remarkably useful.

When hiking or in the field, I carry a Leatherman Wave in addition. I alternate Vera with a Smith and Wesson SWAT (quiet opening and closing) and a Walther drop-point which has nice checkered rubber handles.

I also have a Van Hoy Snap Lock miniature that finds its way into my bag on occasion, and a minature CRKT M16 that is technically my wife’s but she never carries it.

Then there’s the throwing knives, the Bowie, the Ka-Bar, the old no-name tanto that I hardly ever use but can’t throw out, the gaucho dagger, the machetes, etc. Oh, and the axes and swords.

Why yes, I do collect knives and edged weapons, how did youknow?

I do–I used to have a Benchmade custom-ordered pocketknife my Pop gave me for Christmas one year. I accidentally dropped it into a lake in Montana, and never found it. So, I then went and got myself a Benchmade Stryker which I carry all the time.

Also, in my briefcase (or backpack) I’ve got my ‘hit and run kit’ which has a SOR EOD Powerlock (I don’t care for that ‘snap-action’ thing on Gerbers, and personally, I think Leathermen are just crap), one Surefire flashlight, a USAF survival mirror (good for contact lens fixin’) a small pocket calculator and a few other doodads.

I just gotta keep myself outta the habit of losing $100+ knives, and I’ll be alright.

Tripler
I am nerd, hear me slide rule.

After my last stint on jury duty in Philadelphia, I put up such a fuss that I retrieved 2 leatherman tools (an original and a mini) on the way out that were confiscated on the way in. I was livid not only that my goods were getting confiscated but that Joe Palooka working for city govt and likely overpaid was going home with 2 free knives.

They were in my messenger bag and I forgot they were there.

I think thats a triple post (and I hope a mod deletes the extras). Darned Comcast was saying ‘connection timed out’ with a 404 type screen & by the time I saw they had all gone through, I couldn’t even edit delete them.

On the bright side, I’m opening my own business: ‘Blucher’s Cutelry’

Yep. An original Schrade “Old-Timer.” I never go anywhere (except airplanes, of course) without it, and I have a use for it almost every day.

I’ve been carrying a Sheffield utilty knife lately. The best $10 that I’ve spent in a long time. They really hold up well to hard use. I still carry a Spyderco Delica, a Victorinox Soldier, or a Victorinox Farmer on occasion. A Victorinox Rambler is on my work key chain.

Swiss Army penknife with scissor, 2 drivers and bottle cap opener. Highly useful little buggah, and more stylish than any key fob.

I had a Swiss Army knife for years, but it was a disappointment. I carry a Boy Scout knife (hey, I was in the Scouts, not the Swiss army) and own a Leatherman.

Benchmade Mini AFCK (discontinued). Nice and light. I use it for opening boxes mainly. Someday I would like a Brad Duncan Whiplash: http://www.duncanknives.com/page1.html
