Do you have Memorial Day weekend plans?

I won’t go anywhere on that weekend, but I will be preparing for an Amtrak trip on the 31st with a friend of mine. So…packing, making sure I have my tickets, putting half dot com on vacation, etc. Otherwise I will hole up and watch DVDs.

Got plans?

My husband’s grandmother just turned 90. There’s a big celebration that weekend. We’re introducing the newest member to his extended family.

I’m going to my parents’ house near Baltimore, where I will be visited by my boyfriend–whom I haven’t seen in two and a half months. I’m also seeing a couple high school friends to celebrate their recent graduations. Aside from that little gathering, I expect to spend most of Saturday and Sunday canoodling, reading, and watching movies. On Monday the BF and I are driving down to join my family at my parents’ new summer home, a small farm on the Delmarva peninsula (the VA bit) to have a cookout. I’m really excited about a) seeing my boyfriend and b) seeing the new place. It’s going to be awesome.

I’m going on a trip to see my 97-year-old grandmother, among other relatives – if United Airlines doesn’t go on strike!

Work. :frowning:

Memorial Day is in November for me. I will observe a minute of silence at eleven o’clock.

Nope. Well, I’m working that Saturday (seemed like a good time to work my summer Saturday, since I’m on vacation this week), and spending the two days after doing whatever I feel like doing.

On Saturday, I have a bicycle race.

On Sunday, I usually have a somewhat impromptu barbeque and watch a lot of auto racing.

On Monday, chill. Perhaps catch an early matinee of something. If Hopkins is in the lacrosse finals, I’ll probably watch that.

I am going to visit my grandmothers and put flowers and flags on the graves of the veterans in my family.

A friend and I are leaving our husbands and kids at home and flying to New York. It’s the first time there for both of us, and it’s my first overnight (four nights!) without my kid.
To say that I’m both nervous and excited would be a gross understatement.

We are trying to go see Lewis Black at Mohegun-Sun in CT and stay the night. It will be our first “overnight” anywhere in a number of years.

Unfortunately, we may no tbe able to get tickets and I’m really sad. :frowning:

The 6th annual Memorial Day Cookout/Oldest Daughters birthday party. It’s become an annual tradition at Casa De Madd Maxx. I always invite my friends, neighbors, family members and coworkers. There will be much charred meat, cold beverages, and quite a few family-favorite recipes such as homemade egg rolls and dumplings, and my world famous spicy deviled eggs. That’s right, I have put the Devil back into deviled eggs.

My mom wants to have the whole family over at her house for a party. Which would be great, except the very next weekend I’m getting married. We will have a rehersal dinner, a brunch at the parents’ house the next morning for the wedding party, the wedding, the reception and a brunch at the parents’ the next morning for gift opening.

I think I’m gonna see my damn family enough already, mother!!

Sorry to poop all over the nice thread. I’m a little stressed lately.
Just wanted to go to god damn Vegas, but noooooooo. We need to have a damn brunch!

Unfortunately, I’m attending my brother’s graduation. 2+ hours away. I didn’t want to go to mine, I certainly don’t want to go to his. He’s also graduating from a school, while it helped him immensely, I certainly don’t agree with it’s liberalism. The results were good though, and I’m happy for him.

We’re also attending an anniversary party for an Aunt, which I’m actually looking forward to. It’s on a boat cruise in Boston harbor, that should be fun!

I’ll certainly be watching the Charlotte NASCAR races as well.

My cousin’s wedding is Sunday, so we’ll be hanging out with that.

I’m not much of an open wheel fan, but I’ll be watching some of “The 5” this year because of Danica Patrick. If she’s out of it, I doubt I’ll watch, though there are some interesting drivers up front.

Danica Patrick is a stone cold hottie. And she can drive the hell out of those damn cars too. She’s only 23! :o

She’s leading all rookies.

She ran the fastest lap in qualifying (but their positions are determined by an average of 4 laps, and she had one dog of a lap).

Top American finisher ever at some European event.

Highest woman qualifier ever at Indy.

She came in second in the last race.

She’s a hell of a race car driver from the sounds of it.

I’m keeping my eye on her.

I’ll be spending the weekend at my parents’ house in NH, with my parents, my fiance, and his parents. It’s the first time our parents will be meeting each other, so it should be interesting!
