I would say that Spinal Tap has been much better for Michael McKean’s career than Lenny and Squiggy.
I remembered the name mostly because of a Mad magazine parody which called him “Squeegee”…
After all these years it just occurred to me.
Laverne and Shirley.
Lenny and Squigey .
L and S.
Coincidence?
For a more obscure reference, he was a Ferengi in an episode of Star Trek: TNG.
Yes, 41.
Michael Landon is Squiggy?? Little Joe? Tell me it’s not so please
Once, Henry’s cousin came to visit. It was Michael Mckean voicing. I thought that was great and my daughter had zero clue why I was so amused.
He used to sing with Leonard and the Squigtones.
He wouldn’t have been in Spinal Tap if he didn’t play Lenny. Look who directed it, and who he was married to.
I don’t know anyone who didn’t watch at least a little Nick-at-Nite as a kid. Of course I know who Squiggy is. Age 28. My sister also knows, age 25. My cousin also knows, age 18.
I accidentally voted no but I meant yes, of course I know who Squiggy is! I even know who Ziggy is!
I’m 43.
Yes, and I’m 48. I watched the show pretty often back when it first on.
Yes, I’m 47.
Watched a little TV when I was a kid. I even know that he painted the inside of his toilet bowl black.
That’s what the landlady told Laverne & Shirley.
That would be Lenny and the Squigtones.
Well, that sucks. I voted “yes” (age 30-40), but I thought it was the Michael McKean character, not the other one (I can picture his face, but didn’t know the actor’s name). So, apparently I don’t really know Squiggy.
I got to speak to both Lenny and Squiggy on the phone. Years ago they hosted a local telethon here. I called in to make a donation and was put on the phone with each of them separately.
I loved Michael McKean on the XFiles.
I remember reading that Second City TV once attempted to parody Laverne and Shirley and found that it was not possible. No matter how ridiculously they played it, not matter how over the top, it just came across like an episode of Laverne and Shirley.
Maybe that is what happens when the original is already a parody.
Yes, I know which one is Squiggy and which one Lenny. Am 43.
I did, too. And if you want to see him a genuinely scary role as an evil clown: The Thaw (episode) | Memory Alpha | Fandom
