Madly. They’re also among the few junk foods which closely resemble the real food - biting into a dried fig, the crunch and taste is remarkably similar.
You’re darn tootin’ I like fig newtons.
Yes, but I don’t eat them very often because they’re as calorie-laden as Oreos. You know those snack size packs that are two long bars the equivalent of four fig newtons? 200 calories.
If I encounter a Fig Newton cookie on a cookie plate somewhere, I will eat it with enjoyment. But they are something I never seem to buy for myself. Maybe I’m a one-only kind of gal.
I love them so, so much.
There IS a huge price - and taste - difference between generic and Nabisco. I was on a kick for a while where I bought a huge generic bag of them every time I shopped. Then one day I went to the store and Nabisco were on sale and I got those instead. Holy cow, no contest!
Me, too!!!
Like Fig Newtons.
Do not like any other flavor of ___ Newtons.
Terrible. Hate them. Disgusting.
I voted yes, but I don’t really care for them anymore. Preferred the cookies during childhood but I would not care if I never were to try it again in my life.
But I could not vote No as I don’t dislike Fig NEWTONs, really I’m more indifferent to them than dislike. I do like fresh figs though.
Cookie filling should not have little hard things in it. They are an ABOMINATION unto THE LORD.
I like figs.
I like Newton cookies of other flavors (I recall apple newtons were really good).
Put the two together and you have a horrible, yukky cookie that’s all gritty textured.
This. Also, they go down really easy and fast - I can eat a full double-row package at a sitting. I just can’t afford those quantities of calories any more.
But I do like them, so that’s how I voted.
I haven’t had one since I was a child. I liked them, but they kinda grossed me out. I used to think the little seeds and whatnot were bits of ants.
If you read Beverly Cleary’s books about Beezuz and Ramona when you were a kid, you’d remember an even grosser variant of this!
I don’t care for Kandy Korn but I do love Newtons. I nibble the long edges first, and sometimes try to scrape off some of the other covering before eating the figgy filling. They are an old standby that reminds me of my childhood.
No, they are one of the worst cookies ever. Only thing worse is a peanut butter cookie, or a Lorna Doone.
I can still sing that ad.
They are what I buy when my husband is in a “cookies are ok” phase, and I am trying to stay away from sweets (I am not in that phase enough, unfortunately). I have a terrible sweet tooth but am not even tempted by Fig Newtons. I don’t like soft cereal bars either, so maybe it’s a texture thing. I know they technically don’t taste bad, but I don’t like them.
Was eating them at a time when anything our mother liked, we just had to eat ourselves. When I was old enough to buy them myself, nah.
I love 'em. Like the taste, appreciate the texture, and they’re more filling than your average biscuit (or ‘cookie’, if you must).
