SOME situations that exclude me. In the case of the example given, yes, I can dig Girl-on-Girl [aside: IMO, what is marketed to us guys is *“Girl on Girl” * porn, NOT “lesbian” porn. GoG has probably even less to do with actual lesbianism than Yaoi does with actual gays. /aside].

It has been near 20 years since I last checked out any significant viewing time’s worth of gayporn, but yeah, I suppose one could be made that hits the right buttons… again, it most likely would NOT be what would turn on a real gay man.
- Female, bisexual
- Answer here essentially the same as Miller and CaerieD Guy/girl porn doesn’t do much for me most of the time. I mainly watch guy/guy and girl/girl stuff.
- Female with bisexual tendencies
- I will watch two guys, but I prefer to read it.

Something interesting I’ve noticed - I once heard a straight man say that the excitement of two girls was that it was evidence of a woman’s desire for sex, regardless of male involvement - aka, women like sex. I’ve noticed that most women would rather read porn, and it usually involves an element of affection and romance between the male characters. Is this because women want to think of men needing love and affection, and it’s not just something they fake to get sex?
It sounds rather juvinile to think of it like that, but then, these are some base needs we’re talking about.
- female, straight
- well, it has a certain appeal…
- I don’t seek it out because the thought of two girls does nothing for me.
1: Heterosexual male
2: No. When I view porn, the male performer serves as a surrogate for myself. A “stunt cock” if you will. If there’s no penis in the scene, I have a difficult time getting into it. Now if a lesbian scene happens in some written erotica, I won’t skip it, but then I don’t generally masturbate to written erotica.
3: Doesn’t do anything for me. But then, I haven’t exactly looked around for any. The last I saw was when I worked on the video projector at Kansas City’s Strand Theater and the male performers all looked like Kristy McNichol.
A bit of a hijack: I dislike 90% of US porn as the male performers are abusive jerks. I don’t abuse women or call them degrading names, and I can’t put myself in the scene if the male performer is doing so. My favorite videos are the British “Ben Dover” series. It’s “friendly gonzo”, and the main performer/cameraman’s shtick is that he’s the luckiest guy in the world, and he can’t believe that these women want to have sex with him.
- What is your gender & sexual orientation?
Female, straight.
- Do you like porn involving situations that by definition exclude you?
I find porn hysterically funny, does that count?
- (Straight females only) Can you be aroused by well-done lesbian porn?
Nope, never. They haven’t got anything I haven’t got …
- Male, 99.9% hetero (there’s one famous guy I’d be willing to make an exception for, but that’s it, AFAIK)
- Yep.
- Nope. Just doesn’t interest me.
And incidentally, I agree with gaffa. One thing that turns me off a lot of male/female porn is how the guys are, well… dicks. It’s something that really pulls me out of the scene and prevents me from enjoying it.
I’ve been reading a lot of evolutionary psychology lately and it provides an interesting perspective on such things. Through that lens, the male attraction to girl-girl porn is easily explained. The attraction is that there are 2 women who both already have something of a bond to one another. He can potentially impregnate and abandon both of them, knowing his offspring will likely enjoy the advantage of a 2-parent family with zero contribution required from him (leaving him sufficiently free to try to repeat the feat elsewhere). It’s literally a genetic windfall for the male, and like other genetic windfalls (such as mating with a genetically perfect female) is quite arousing.
It’s the only explanation that makes any sense to me right now.
Just wanted to put a good word in for the 70s porn star Long Jeanne Silver, who was probably the only mainstream amputee porn star. She was born without a left foot and found a niche using her stump as a sexual tool. Some people found it creepy and repulsive, but she was just a person making the best of what life handed her. She had an appendage that was larger than John C. Holmes and made good use of it.
- What is your gender & sexual orientation?
Male, Kinsey 2 (so, say, ~66% liking the ladies) - Do you like porn involving situations that by definition exclude you?
It’s OK, but not something I seek out. And I’m not white, but a hell of a lot of porn is white-on-white, and I’ve never felt it excluded me.
The other questions don’t apply.
- Male, Gay.
- No. What’s the point? Porn is there to give me ideas for stuff to actually do.
Heh. I think that’s a luxury more available to gay guys than straight guys. We watch for stuff we’ll probably never get to do for real. For example, IRL we hardly ever find our wives in bed with other women and then get invited to join in.
I think, based on my own experiences, I would probably have to agree. I’ve yet to see any porn that has involved a situation that I couldn’t conceive of myself in (or indeed I haven’t actually been in), and given that I’ve been filmed having sex (just the once ) it’s not that much of a stretch of the imagination.
Could I have sex with most of the men in gay porn? Probably not, I don’t think I’m that good looking enough personally (and my beliefs in my looks is far more of an impediment than whether it’s true or not).
- Male, Straight
- Sometimes. I do enjoy heteroporn like a normal joe and F on M oral is some of my favorite stuff. I guess the exclusion comes from me liking heteroscenes that feature guys with very large pricks. If I’m watching a guy my size or smaller getting head it doesn’t do anything for me.
- Depends on your definition. Like I said, I like oral done on guys with big pricks and I know theres alot of that in gay porn. I don’t look for it but I’ve seen some that is interesting. I’m not at all turned on looking at men or watching men have sex and have no interest in having sex with another man. But the situation above can do it for me when watching porno.
1: Hetero male
2: Visual, I prefer material with no males present. Written, it could go either way.
3: No interest at all.
I think my answer to #2 comes down to the fact that I can identify with characters in books, but when I’m looking at something, I’m the guy on this side of the screen, and everyone else is on the other side of the screen. So if I’m looking at folks making out or whatever, and I’m visualizing myself in the scene, I’m not visualizing myself replacing someone already there; I’m visualizing myself in addition to everyone there. And visualizing myself in a room with a couple of naked women is a lot more appealing than visualizing myself in a room with one naked woman and another guy.
This also means that I get no enjoyment at all from fellatio scenes. What am I seeing? A guy’s dick, and a chick’s face. The former does nothing for me, and the latter I can see all the time in real life.
- male, straight
- I don’t really like lesbian porn much, and I’ve come to realize that it’s because of the money shot. The real reason isn’t so much because of the visual aspect of it, although that’s certainly there, just not always done well. It’s more that for most porn, it’s really obvious to tell that no one is getting any pleasure from it. It’s all fake, all just a job. When a guy cums however, I know he’s not faking it.
I don’t know why it’s so important to me, but I think it’s something along the lines of the When Harry Met Sally scene. There are just very few ways in which the actors can convince me that there’s actually something going on in the scene.
3. Not really. I like curves a little too much.
- Female, straight
- I sometimes like straight porn, but there is a lot that is degrading to women, which turns me off. I like gay porn sometimes, and am quite fond of slash/yaoi.
- Inapplicable.
- I might watch lesbian porn, if the performers actually appear to be enjoying it. With guy/guy, at least somebody seems to be actually getting off.

I prefer it, actually. Not so much “by definition,” as in excluding all females for example, but I prefer porn which features people that look nothing like me or anyone I know. I’m a natural, jeans-and-no-makeup wearin’ lady but the porn that does it for me features oddly inflated bleach-blondes (or other hair color equivalents) with skin and features courtesy of Wagner Power Painter. Dunno why, but the more fakey and plasticky and barbie-doll-y, the better. The men, I just prefer that they be attractive and not disgusting. That tends to be a tall order, so I’ll take what I can get! I completely understand how the porn purveyors presenting healthy, well-fed, un-implanted wimyns are much better for society than the usual crap L.A. suspects, but the usual crap L.A. porn is what gets me off. Dunno why, wish it weren’t the case, but there ya go. Probably means I hate sex or something.

Well I’m not sure what is meant by “well made.” The “good” lesbian porn out there - featuring like real lesbians in real relationships who are clearly enjoying each other is pleasant to watch, but I feel more “awww, that’s sweet” than “wow, that’s hot.” For hot, see #2.

1. What is your gender & sexual orientation?
Female, straight-leaning bisexual
2. Do you like porn involving situations that by definition exclude you?
Yes! I looooovvve gay male porn. God knows why, but gay men are a huge turn-on for me. It gets pretty pathetic sometimes, really.
4. (Straight females only) Can you be aroused by well-done lesbian porn?
I know I identified as bisexual, but I’m going to answer this anyway: if I ever see any well-done lesbian porn, I’ll let you know. Heck, even my lesbian friends in college had a hard time finding lesbian porn that turned them on. It’s a genre that’s almost entirely geared towards straight guys, and there’s something about it that always seems disingenuous. The women never look like they’re really enjoying it. It doesn’t help that the lesbian porn I’ve seen always features two super-femmy blondes, and I’m more into boyish brunettes.
Me, too. God knows if we’re both talking about the same thing, but me, too. Especially in gay male porn, with one guy, ah… excuse me a moment, I’m just going to powder my nose.
