Do you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?

I’m asking for two reasons… I’ve noticed a lot of new people listing this area as home, and I want to tell y’all to keep a weather eye out for parties in our area. We throw some damn good parties! To help get the parties going, we have a local board - we use this in case the SDMB has problems while a party is in the offing, to tell people that a party is coming up, or to just talk about local stuff that won’t interest most Dopers. Sign up with your email and I’ll email you whenever a party is coming up.

Secondly, I’ve just posted a hilarious essay on driving in Dallas. You must read this if you live here!
DFW Adams Family - It’s SDMB, not BDSM.

I do, I do.
[sub]Oh, you were talking about people you didn’t know about already. … Nevermind.[/sub]

Jim

Actually, your timing is a good way for me to announce that I have moved to the DFW just this last weekend: I got a job teaching with DISD and my husband is starting grad school this fall. I would definitely be interested in meeting some Dopers in the flesh.

But you can go read the story about driving in Dallas, Jim!

OK, I confess, I’m secretly a DFW doper :). I’m just a stone’s throw from Foat Wuth (ah luv yew!) (Obscure bumper sticker reference.) I’ve noticed the occasional dopefest posts, but confess to having a fairly busy home and work life, so haven’t responded :(. But do keep posting, cuz I’d really like to at least show my ugly mug at some point and put some faces to the names here.
Re: driving in DFW, haven’t read your post yet, but have often said that it’s a good thing I don’t keep a bazooka in my car

Where in Arlington do you live? I used to live near 30 & Fielder.

I’m south of I-20 near Cooper and Green Oaks, in the much congested south Cooper business corridor. When I moved here, it was largely open fields and two-lane roads. Now it’s mostly shopping centers and three-lane parking lots with traffic lights  .

Well BLAST, Rhubarb, I wish you had come to the Grace/Scotti birthday bash last February, since it doesn’t look like I am going to make it down to visit my TX friends for awhile! But please come visit the DFW message board…I got to be an honorary member. I am the second from most northerly DFW member…that sly Zyada went and hooked herself a BC kind of guy and beat me out for the prize.

It’s kind of like “Always a bridesmaid, never the bride,” but I don’t mind because he is a sweetheart!

Welcome to the family, albeit from afar!

Scotti

Don’t fret, Scotti! If I have my way, you’ll have the “Most Northerly Member” title before too long.

Well, hon, you already know where I live (and how to get there, too!). And I hope someday I’ll be able to visit your neck of the woods.

I hope you’re feeling better.

I know, hon, but…as I told rjk, how am I going to get to see my friend if he moves all the way down there? He didn’t seem to be at all swayed by my plea, however…imagine that?

Seriously, I know I’ll be losing him in both your best interests. So I am very happy that this is under serious discussion. Like he said, all the more reason to start visiting TX more often.

Which is actually a GOOD idea, just not financially feasible ATM. But I expect that’ll change sooner or later.

I’ll 2nd the idea of you coming to Texas more often, Scotti.

Yep, in Northern Dallas. I can certainly relate to driving problems [sub]damn road construction on 635…[/sub]

No, but sometimes I party there with this odd group I met on the Internet.

Uh, yep, that would be us.

I live in N Richland Hills & work & go to school in Arlington.
