I used to get tons of them a couple years ago, and now only my brother sends them.
I used to send them a lot too, but now there are so many flashing corny generic ones that it takes forever to find the classy or artistic ones.

I like to send them as “just because” type notes. Normally, I use Hallmark’s ecards because they’re free and I can usually find something that I like.
I can’t remember the last time that I received one though.
Don’t some e-card providers sell email addresses to spamers?
I send maybe two a year.
I fill it out, and send it to myself. Then I send the link to the person. that way the only email they know is my junk email one, and the person is protected.
I wanted to send one last week, found it …somewhere, and they wanted me to pay $15/year for the priviledge. I just sent the link to the preview to my friend.
Yep. So I don’t use e-cards. I get a few from my mother, but that’s all.
I hate e-cards, but they seem to be hugely popular in Germany as I get so many from there. They are usually crappy Flash thingies with tacky Muzak and some stupid Santa (or bunny, or “cute” character) bouncing across the screen.
More annoying is if I don’t open them, and get a fuckin’ REMINDER that I didn’t open the damned thing. I just got one of those reminders today…gee, nothing says Merry Christmas more than a reminder for an e-card I didn’t want to see before Christmas, and sure as hell don’t want to see today.
If you are too lazy to send an actual Christmas card, the least you can do is spend three minutes and write me a real e-mail, and not send some lame e-card.
Oh, did I mention I HATE E-CARDS?
I’m wary of e-cards because of the previously mentioned spam factor. So, no – I don’t send them (tried years ago, but I always mucked something up and they went nowhere) and receive very few.
Never sent one, and refuse to click any links that might be one.
Bah! Humbug!
I was going down memory lane and realized I once made my own postcards.
There’s a site http://www.mypostcards.com/ that helps you create a postcard site with your own pictures. They provide all the templates and cheesy music.
It was fun a few times, but then I switched to just creating message images with PhotoShop and emailing them directly. Loses a little of the ecard feel, but is quicker.
E cards were fun a decade ago when they were still new, but now they’re naff. I haven’t sent one in years. I tend not to open the ones that get sent to me.
I do like AtP above- I get a picture of my own, add the appropriate text to it and send it as a regular jpg attachment. More personal and no cheesy music.
