Well, one person did notice when I started back up after a long hiatus. Of course, we had met IRL, so the connection was stronger.

Eh. I did stop posting, for about two months. Even let my subscription lapse. Nobody noticed except for someone who’s my friend outside of the SDMB. 
Probably not. I’m hardly a prolific poster (as evidenced by less than 450 posts and a join date in 2002), and I regularly disappear from the boards for a few weeks at a time. What Exit? might eventually notice as he’s met me a couple of times at his NJ Dopefests.
We could turn this into some kind of love-fest. I’d notice WhyNot and What Exit. Der Tris stopped posting for a couple weeks recently but while I noticed, I don’t generally contribute to the same threads as he so I saw no point in mentioning it.

The only person who might notice is What Exit?, because I wouldn’t be Yankees-stalking him any more.

I doubt I’d be missed. I don’t start or get involved in any lively debates, and I keep most of my opinions to myself, especially on more controversial issues. I don’t have a unique job or any other outstanding traits that I can share on this board. I don’t have a family to talk about (other than the family I was born into). Most of my comments in other threads don’t generate a lot of follow-ups and I don’t have very many OPs to my credit. In short, I’m probably amongst the most boring and mundane posters here.
Well, I did vanish for about a month while moving, last Novemberish. Did anyone notice ?
My guess is some probably did; I seem to make an impression on some people.
My Mom would be the only one to notice. Actually I let my membership lapse with the intention of re-subscribing after midterms, but she re-upped me before I could. So at least my Mom loves me. Thanks Mom!

A few people might notice my disappearance after a few weeks, but probably only those Dopers I’d met in person.
As a small sample and leaving out many others (for which I apologise), I’d miss What Exit, Misnomer, Anaamika, Kythereia, Winston Smith, Cunctator, Spoons, matt_mcl, twickster, Sampiro, Ginger of the North, Lilairen, Scuba_Ben, tokyoplayer, Brynda, RickQ. These are Dopers I’ve either: [ul][]met in person; []had Hopeless Doper Crushes on; []both of the above; []been part of the Initiation Lunacy with, or followed, been touched by, or learned from threads, discussions, or topics of theirs closely.[/ul]
Yeah, that’s what helps me believe nobody would notice. I’ve gone months without posting already.
I don’t think there’s anybody who has the stamina to keep posting through a six-month period.

I was going to say that I wasn’t sure anyone would notice but then I remembered seeing someone ask about me “being back” in the Snark Pit a couple weeks ago so, even with a drastically reduced presence, I still register on some people’s radar.
We notice when people stop posting in the MMP. I hope someone would notice there if I stopped posting. Outside of that group, probably not.
I’d wondered about olivesmarch4th (thanks for the link, Noone Special, and periodically note that I haven’t seen certain posters around for a while. In a community this big, it’s hard to notice most missing people quickly.
There are several people in this thread that I know I’d miss eventually.
I notice when you haven’t been posting, Idle Thoughts; I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Not a chance. I really did disappear for months awhile ago, and not a soul took notice. Which is fine with me, actually. I’d be much more concerned if my husband didn’t notice I was gone.

Heh, I just looked at a couple of threads I had replied to and then felt the vague urge to yell: “And what am I? Chopped liver?” … so no, I don’t think so.
Strangely enough, I know almost everybody who replied to this thread, but I don’t think I’d necessarily notice if somebody stopped posting (maybe apart from the really prolific posters mentioned). However, sometimes when I read a name I go “huh, haven’t seen that poster around for a bit”, so I apparently notice subconsciously. Usually it turns out that the thread in question has been zombified…

Reading through the replies to this thread, I’ve seen several names I don’t recognize, several I barely recognize, and just a few that I feel I know fairly well because I read their posts that often.
I think most of the respondents to this thread are about as memorable as I am. I’m cool with it.
I should add that I noticed Lissa’s absence because somebody started a thread about Henry VIII’s family and she didn’t show up in it.
Yeah, I think I’d notice if someone started a thread about mental illness and/or involuntary commitment, I’d probably think, “Huh, I wonder why AHunter3 hasn’t chimed in yet? Oh look, shiny thing!”
