This isn’t really about art per se, but - checking out the other thread titles in this forum - I don’t feel too embarrassed or inappropriate.
I just moved back to the U.S., so I’ve missed a lot of movies in the last couple of years. So I’m makin that up at the dollar movies (because I also don’t have a job yet). I just went and saw “Dodgeball” and laughed until I was sick.
Did anyone else enjoy this movie as much as I did?
I have always had an unexplained fascination with movies about teams of wacky misfits winning the big game. I don’t even like sports. Luckily, these movies always make what’s going on in the game perfectly clear. Dodgeball is a parody of these films, though I wouldn’t say it was necessarily more preposterous than a regular one.
I had more fun at that movie than just about any other movie this year. It was stupid and juvenile, but with just a dash of really clever gags. Lance Armstrong’s cameo just about killed me.
I agree with the above that it was stupid funny rather than stupid annoying, with several hilarious moments. Any movie which features Stephen Root will score some points with me, I think he is one of the most talented comic performers working today.
now this is my own preference but i liked Dodgeball a whole lot better than Anchorman. Dodgeball I laughed most of the way through but Anchorman, though it had good points just didn’t work its magic on me.
Oddly, Dodgeball was only the first of two movies I saw because of not seeing Spider-Man 2. I went to where it was playing and tried to buy a ticket only to learn that it had closed the day before! Then why was it still advertised on the theatre’s website I ask you? Ended up seeing Deep Water instead.
