My white elephant flew west, then returned to me. I guess it missed me. Or maybe I screwed up the address, whatever.
Anyway, it’s repacked and with the finace for resending today.

Mama Tiger, did you get yours yet? I sent it two weeks ago!
I peeked into my mail box today and there was a white mammal… ok, it was a box, but I imagined an elephant!
Unfortunely, there is sad news. The postal service, whether Canadian or U.S. has murdered my ele! 
There were little pieces of green and brown, the only part recognizable was a duck bill and one eye, plus a little ducky tail.
Four of the sea shells are whole but the brown and white snail/nautilis shells followed ducky into death. I’ve dug a small hole (well, cleared a place in the trash) We’ll have a short farewell ceremony tomorrow.
The shells that survived will go into the big bowl/vase where my beach treasures live. We go search for cool stuff pretty often, so they’ll be in good company. 
It’s on its way. I posted it yesterday, 2-3 day delivery. It ought to arrive by Tuesday. Many apologies.

I got mine, some very cool stuff, including anice portable game set, several Time/Life paperbacks and Post It notes! Thank you to whoever the sender was!

I have not yet received a heffalump, but there was a UPS sticker on my door yesterday telling me that there’s something waiting for me at the apartment manager’s office. I’ll go pick it up and report back in.
Sorry, jayjay, I’ve been out of town – yes indeed, it arrived just before I left. Fun stuff, thanks! How did you know I’m a knitter? I’m already starting a hat with that yarn you sent!
I just got back into town and am putting the finishing touches on the stuff I’m sending out, so my elephantee should have a package from me within the next week or so. Sorry about the delay – life has really been interfering with my fun lately!
Oh, and since I’ve been so delayed by my trip out of town, Zebra, I’ll be sending to you. So please don’t put me at the top of your list for being so slow!
Heh…actually, when I was putting it together, I didn’t know. The yarn and needles are really sort of a tradition (if you can call something that’s been done twice a tradition)…I fulfill my “knitting missionary” obligation in every White Elephant. The fact that you can put them to good use right off the bat is just a bonus!
My biggest problem is I’m having trouble finding a good pattern for use with that extra-chunky yarn. I’m ending up adapting an old pattern (from the 1940s) for a really adorable pixie hat – it’s for chunky yarn, but not that chunky. We’ll see how it turns out!
Alice, quick question, are the partners randomly assigned, or are we receiving from the person we sent to?

A blue translucent Scooby-Doo cup with water inside; I suspect it’s one of those ones that you put in the freezer and have ready-ice for your drink.
A bunch of black li’l casters.
Wacky eyeball-esque creepy Hallowe’en lights.
A teddy bear wearing a bathrobe keyfob.
A pressed flower bookmark.
A bunch of “Harry Potter Trading Card Game” cards. What’re the rules, dammit!?
A bunch of scented markers (never mind the glue sniffing! Go markers!)
Hot dog trays!
A cherry pie notebook.
A ghost-shaped candy dish!
A buttload of drawer-pulls with screws.
A funky basket.
And last…a small statue of Minerva, which is way cool! That’s going up in my office.
No note from the Doper who sent it, except for a little card (with cows outstanding in their field) and “I hope you enjoy your box of stuff.” Signed with a cryptic little symbol that looks like an ‘h’ with a longer line drawn under it.

I was able to retrieve my ele from the building package room this weekend… I’m sure it’s been there for a while, but for some odd reason, I can’t get packages unless the doorman is on duty, and he’s not when I get home from work.
So… from memory:
- A blue flannel shirt (my cat jumped on this. Literally.)
- A card shuffler
- A pewter (?) plate with the seal of America
- A paperback novel
- Two VHS movies
I’m blanking on the other stuff… I’m sure it will come to me.
