Does anyone here use Taxactonline.com?

I used this website to file my income tax returns after having it reccomended to me by a long time online friend. After slogging through multiple pages and giving the required information I selected “direct diposit” as my preffered way of recieving my return, and then got the “Congratulations on completing your 2005 tax return!” message.

Now I completed this roughly a week and a half ago, maybe two, and still don’t have the money in the bank. Which is expected. The worrisome part is that I haven’t recieved any emails from this website telling me that everything is complete, that my forms are being processed, or anything of the like. I’m not really getting a sense of closure here.

So, can anyone tell me, under these circumstances, should I be expecting any emails at this time? Is there maybe some final step I’ve overlooked?

Any answers would allow to breathe a great sigh of relief, one way or the other at this point. I really need to know if things are getting done, or if they’re on pause

Did you have to create a login? did you try logging in to see if there’s any info on your returns?

I filed this year using a random tax site recommended by the IRS, and my returns took forever to get to me and I never got any emails from the site.

I went back 3 weeks later and logged in to the site. Turns out that my 2004 gross adjusted income was wrong (i sort of guessed at it), which they needed to confirm that I was who I said I was and send me my money. I edited that value and got my return money in about a week.

My advice would be to log in and check on the status of your return.

I’ve used them for a couple of years, after having people here recommend the site to me. So far, it’s worked. But I have relatively simple taxes (I don’t even have state taxes, and my federal ones are pretty straightforward, too.). So, if yours are complex, there may be a problem.

Still for the past few years, right (a few minutes) after I submitted, I got an email with the subject line “TaxACT E-file Notice: Federal Return Received” that began:

it would continue saying I’d get more information within 3-5 days.
then, shortly (within the next day) afterward another letter with the subject line:
“TaxACT E-file Notice: Federal Return Accepted” which began

And then more information about how long to wait (3 weeks or so) and whom to call if I hadn’t heard something.

They could have changed this year…(I haven’t done my taxes yet. I have a month, still - and I owe this year, so not in so much of a hurry.) But if you haven’t even seen something like that, yet, you may want to log back in and check or call them.

I’ve used them successfully also. Here’s what I get back after filing on 2/21:

A few hours after that notice, I got another saying that the IRS had accepted my return, and gave me a Declaration Control Number for my return, followed by:

My DC refund was direct-deposited on 2/28 and federal refund on 3/3.

I think you stopped short of actually doing the e-file steps. I’m pretty sure there were some other things I had to do after I got that message.

I just opened up the program and it went straight to the “E-filing - Submit Return” page with two button that say “submit” and “cancel e-file”.

Dumb question, but did you make sure you entered your email correctly on the website? One typo and you wouldn’t get any emails. Also, make sure the emails aren’t getting stopped by your junk filters or routed to the trash.

Hmm…apparently there was still a bit more to do after the message congratulating me for completing the E-filing. From the point I left off I was supposed to click a link at the top left that said “E-File”. The kudos, my previous checked user agreements, and the fact that there was no more “Continue” button with an arrow had led me to believe everything was done. I had assumed the button I was meant to click on was to be used for backtracking; changing information and such.

So everything should be taken care of now! If not, I’ll recieve an email in 24 hours saying so. Thanks for the help everyone. Because of your help I’ll have that new PC I’ve been wanting for the last 5 years that much quicker. I believe I have it from here

I actually just used Taxactonline a couple days ago. They immediately sent me the email say it had been recieved, and I would within three days get an email to see if it had been accepted. I still havn’t gotten the email.

However becuase I was to lazy to dig up last years return I have to send in a form with my DCN within 24 hours of it being accepted. I logged back in about 12 hours after I submitted, and checked status. It had actually been accepted already and gave me the DCN, so I sent the form. However as I said I havn’t gotten any email yet, so it’s worth checking the site.
