Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of code_grey.
I quickly read that as earl grey, the taste of which I find quite unpleasant. How do people drink that stuff?
I don’t mean to sound callous, but I’ve known many black people who would tell his ilk to STFU about being black. Just sayin’.
Hot.
Hee!
As far as blacks telling his ilk to STFU about being black, I doubt it, generally speaking.
Blacks are used to such a wide spectrum of folks identifying as black due to the ‘one drop’ culture. Most black families have lots of members that look like that guy. My favorite uncle looks exactly like Willie Nelson. I dare anyone to tell him he isn’t black, though.
You’re right…it’s truly about identifying. It’s also about personality, as well, I reckon…for instance, DC voters dumped this guy in favor of that guy, and one of the cited reasons (though there’s more to it than that) is that the former was “too white” or something.
It’s complicated…
This is the line I find problematic:
- To make Black people the number one employer of Black people in the 21st Century
That sounds very much like discriminating by race. Black people should hire black people. White people should apparently hire fewer black people than black people do.
And while I think code_grey has jumped off into racist territory now, I do think there was a point. A black person who does not appear black most likely has not had all the same hardships, and a lot of people resent it when those people act like they were just as oppressed as the others.
Fortunately, black people are not somehow stupider than white people, and can make that decision for themselves and don’t need someone like code_grey protecting them from the big bad white man.
It’s funny how my opinion on this is simultaneously opposite and the same as with Naomi Campbell and the chocolate bar. I have no problem saying that black people as a group get to decide what they do and don’t consider racist. I have a problem with someone telling white people that they don’t have the right to have opinions on what is racist nor have the capability of understanding why something is racist.
No, I think it should read something like “Wealthy/ Upper class black people should employ black people…because other people don’t (not “shouldn’t”), and we should look after our less fortunate co-race-members”, as has been shown in the past eg with the study of people phoning for job interviews with “typical” AA-style names vs WASP ones.
Oh, pardon me. For some reason, he sounded a little . . . taller on the radio.

Not until he raps with Dead Mike.
yeah, they should . Except who better knows the potential value of a black employee than a fellow black? If Mr. Token-in-Chief knows full well how he got his degree, job history and references, will he accept the same from Mr. Brother T. Junior at face value? Or will Mr. Junior agree to a position with a salary appropriate to his expected level of competence instead of the position he truly deserves given his descent from [del]His Highness king of Dahomey[/del] some oppressed slaves and discriminated against sharecroppers?
Then again, what’s that to Mr. Fraser. Fraser is selling a poorly crafted fantasy to not-so-bright people. So he is free to ply them with any bullshit he wants in order to get them take out the checkbook.
ETA: incidentally, the lower quality employees require higher quality managers and better organized work processes to get them perform well. So having black quality managers employing black quality employees may well be asking for big problems. Whereas a better manager might have smoothed over the deficiencies through superior organization. Just look at how much historically more productive are black employees in South Africa compared with black employees in Nigeria.
“Black quality” managers and employees?
Really?
Dude, just go ahead and announce your affiliation with the KKK and be done with it, ya racist fuckwit.
He looks like plenty of black people I know. I don’t know any black people who use the word “Black” to mean %100 African ancestry other than a few slave masters somewhere down the line.
Are you fucking kidding me?? And here I was thinking you were just an idiot…
As to the “problematic” point number 2, I read it pretty clearly as saying that currently the majority of employers are white and he hopes to change that be encouraging black entrepreneurship.
As to whether he’s “black enough”, quite frankly, if the man says he’s black then he’s black.
Awesome.
Just took 71 posts to get there.
ETA:
Isn’t it great when hypotheses are confirmed :D?
..
For my sins I’ve been reading code_grey’s threads over the months with an increasing sense of foreboding. There is something definitely not right in the brainbox there.

Small point to latch on to, I know, but what’s your definition of professional success? Depending on your definition, I may or may not belong on your list. In any case, I can quickly name more than a ‘few’ black Americans who consider themselves successful.
Professional success, in my book, is to have the ability to find your passion, master it and capitalize by sharing your gifts and talents with the world. But success is really what YOU want to accomplish personally and professionally. That was my “nut-shell” version.
I too can name tons of successfull Black People, but based on percentages, even with all the Black success we have, we still only control 1/10 of the nations wealth, which is the same amount since the 1920’s. So my friend, we are doing a hell of alot better, but, we still have a long way to go compaired to other cultures, mentally and financially. George is teaching average Black americans how to be Business and Property owners, not employees and renters.
And to Code Grey, I mean really, who would try to fake being black? Not sure if you know but its not easy being Black (especially male) in America. You should do some research on the priviledges you think people recieve just because of race. Its not as easy as you assume, the percentage of diversity required by major Corporations is very small. White America has nothing to worry about.

But is he blacker than this guy?
