Thanks for labelling me as magical. I find that complimentary. I shall try to cast a spell for balanced budgets and reduced government spending, but history suggests my spell may be unsuccessful.
Let’s just walk though the probabilities. Was Joe Biden informed that there was a “Let’s Go Brandon” meme that was a euphemism for “Fuck Joe Biden”? Almost certainly. Was he advised by his press advisors to watch out for that meme? I think that’s very likely. Did he remember that warning, and chose to disregard it for some unstated reason? Pretty unlikely. Was that reason that he thought a euphemism for “Fuck Joe Biden” was funny? Extraordinarily unlikely. Was it that he was caught by surprised by the euphemism during an interview, got bumfuzzled, and just tried to ride past it? Pretty likely. And the most likely reason for the bumfuzzlement? My pick is elderly forgetfulness, but if you’d like to suggest another reason such as dementia, feel free to explain that moment of blatant unawareness.
See, you make this assertion, then build conclusion on it, and it is this very assertion that you have given no backing for.
Sorry that your perfect gotcha moment is built upon such weak fantasy, but it really does only exist in your head.
My take is that Biden was mocking the caller, that’s the most reasonable explanation for what he said, and doesn’t need all the made up nonsense that you put into your post.
But this has been gone over and over again and again, and I’m sure that you will stick to your fantasy that fits your narrative, and continue to spew your conclusions as to your fantasy to anywhere you are not prohibited from doing so.
Biden did what bullied kids have done to bullies for a long time, sarcastically agree with their stupid insult and move on. Show them that it is not affecting them at all.
Of course the bullies and those that side with them are going to interpret that in the worst possible way because they have to feel superior to who they are bullying. “See! He doesn’t even know ahhahahahhaha”. It was lame in 4th grade and it’s even more lame now.
I know that he repeated it while he was answering a call from a family on the NORAD Santa tracker. There were kids on the line and he decided not to engage. But it wasn’t an interview, as you’ve said a couple of times.
It was a traditional presidential PR stunt where some kids’ dad essentially said “fuck you” to the President. He shrugged it off and tried to steer the conversation back to lighter fare. It was the right move.
Why is this unlikely? I think it’s funny. Dumb and juvenile, but still funny. Why wouldn’t Joe?
I think you’re just projecting what you want to be true. Who knows what Biden was thinking (remember, this wasn’t an interview, but a Christmas conversation with a family)? Seems unlikely to me that those who hate Biden are most likely to know what he was thinking.
It was a structured conversation where Biden and his handlers were directing the conversation, up until the “Let’s Go Brandon” comment. I agree it wasn’t a journalistic interview, and if you’d like to propose a better term for the incident, then go for it. But my point about the incident is that Biden repeated a phrase that meant “Fuck Joe Biden” and did so because he was clueless about the phrase in the moment, despite having been surely briefed about it. Which was the cause of that cluelessness, stupidity or senility?
Or he thought it was funny, or he was being sarcastic, or a million other possibilities. Your apparent obsession with this, and your insistence that there can be only one explanation, is based on your own biases, not the facts.
Right. Because somebody who has just been told to fuck himself is going to find it funny and repeat the statement as a joke, but with no intonation expressing sarcasm or derision against the person who made the joke. I think there’s no question that cluelessness is the obvious explanation of Biden’s “Let’s Go Brandon” gaffe. But perhaps a lot of the uncritical support of Biden is based on cluelessness, so maybe that’s a representative trait of Democrats.
Incredibly thin skin and thinking that childish insults count as policy discussion are representative traits of Republicans. Biden has a stutter and he has dealt with asshole bullies his entire life. He doesn’t give a crap about your infantile insults. The Right looks so moronic over this whole LGB thing. It is so dumb.
Let’s also be perfectly clear, this is the same event where his predecessor asked if a child was young enough to “still believe in Santa”, and declared that the kid’s belief was “marginal”. I think we’ve all forgotten that the President can act like an adult.
I don’t perceive Biden as thinking he’s “the smartest person in the room.” Mentioning FORMER President Trump is relevant because it gives perspective and a basis for comparison.
Unlike Trump, Biden listens to his advisers, and doesn’t fire anybody who isn’t a sniveling yes-man.
Biden certainly hasn’t said openly that he thinks that. For the record, Trump repeatedly made it clear that he DOES think he’s the smartest person in the room despite overwhelming evidence that he is not. (He is the living embodiment of The Dunning-Kruger Effect.)
