Does using teledildonics count as infidelity?

For those unfamiliar with the term, teledildonics is a technology that allows users to remotely stimulate another person’s privates using robotics.

The technology is very much in it’s infancy, however, real products exist that (imperfectly) allow this kind of interaction.

There are various roboticly controlled dildos that can be controlled remotely, as well as a robo-vagina.

One reasonably functional commercial technology is known as the “real touch interactive”. A robotic vagina simulator exists that uses several electric motors, a heating element, and a lubricant dispenser. It plugs into a computer by USB, and can be commanded remotely by a cam girl to perform various movements. The cam girl has a wand that resembles a dildo and she can insert it into various body orifices, and the realtouch device will attempt to simulate what the sensors on the wand “feel”.

For those who are having trouble understanding the details, here’s a link to a tech site that reviewed one : [NSFW] Realtouch Interactive: Remote sex is no longer a thing of the future (Part 2)

Apparently, the relatively crude device plus the video feed is enough to “do the trick” for most male users.

So a “sexual experience” is a simple transaction. The male user pays a fee to the performer, and communicates with her either by a text chat or by videoconference. With the current generation of the technology, the sex is only one way - he cannot perform any body movements to stimulate her.

Is this cheating? There’s zero chance of possible disease or pregnancy, and there’s not an emotional connection - to the performer, he is just another random face from the internet, and to the user, she is just a body he is masturbating to in a more interactive way.

For those SDers who have a husband, would you consider this cheating? How strongly would you feel about it, and how would you compare it to a physical act done with a prostitute, or an actual affair?

Similarly, in a few more years, we might have an effective enough android that could be used to remotely have intercourse with a woman. I suppose it might sound sexist to say this, but I suspect that said android would need to be very complex, with a lot of motors and embedded sensors and electronics in order to be effective.

If your wife were to enjoy herself in an encounter with some good looking stud she will never physically meet, would you consider this cheating? How strongly would you feel about it, and how would you compare it to a physical act done with a prostitute, or an actual affair?

Sorry, no comment on the OP, but I will always remember it fondly as the first time I read the word “teledildonic”.

I don’t care if it’s cheating or not, but we would be breaking up. Too creepy and weird.

Does teledildonics count as cheating? Need answer fast.

Yeah, it counts as sad and creepy.

And there’s a middle ground: what about using an AI to control the vibrator? It isn’t a “person” at the controls…but it’s more than just masturbating…

Anyway, I vote that having a person on the other end of the controls is cheating…but a milder form of it than if they were right there in the room. It’s a spot on the spectrum. (A bit to the right… Lower… There. Oh, yes, right there!)

Um.

Some people consider it cheating to write emotionally involved letters to others. Some people consider it cheating to care for another. I’ve actually known men who were jealous of Han Solo! Is it “cheating” if she’s playing with herself and thinking of Han Solo? Is it cheating if she’s having sex with her guy…and thinking of Han Solo? There actually are some people who would say yes!

Next time I’m having sex with a woman I will try to picture her motorized vagina with its heating element and lubricant dispenser. What ever turns you on, eh?

I’ve heard of the term before, lol, but not in awhile. Thanks for the update.

I think most people would consider phone sex a form a cheating, and this is clearly a level or two or three above that, so I don’t see how the “cheating” label could be avoided–for most people.

Many years ago, a friend of mine, having gotten his first Apple Macintosh computer, said, “If it only had a vagina, I would never, ever be away from it.”

The dream comes closer and closer to truth!

Yeah, last time I heard this term, it was circa 1993, thanks to Future Sex magazine. One of those “OMG, the Internet is becoming popular, and we have to capitalize!” publications of the day. They really pushed the term and concept. I’m sure they worked in VR goggles and other goofy things.

Not sure if I’d consider it cheating. Depends on whether the person using it is just masturbating in a technically novel manner, or if they’re using it carry on a long-distance thing. Cam girl/guy? Masturbation. Friend they know? Close to, if not entirely, cheating.

Of course, one’s MMV. The woman I’m seeing now would certainly consider any use as cheating (she’s not fond of erotica, and considers it cheating), whereas some of my exes not only would have no problem with it, they’d probably use it as well.

If you** have to ask** if any given thing is infidelity, the answer is always “yes”.

What a country!

The question is one that has permeated our development team from the beginning. From the people that actually have relationshpis and use these devices – YES it’s cheating. Nobody here would be comfortable with anyone else on the team having teledildonic sex with their partners. It makes sense, as others have mentioned in this thread already there would be quite a quake in a relationship if one was found to be having even chat or phone sex with other people. Adding the robots and it gets much more visceral. It’s hard to understand without trying it, but these machines are very intimate. The direct force reflections really create a convincing illusion of physical connections, and you can tell who youre having sex with – especially if youve had real sex with them before. It’s one to one movements.

It’s a bit more of a grey area when you apply this tech to games, what if you have a physical relationship with another human player in world of warcraft, for example, you never know their names, see who they are – it’s just your avatars on screen, but the sex telemetry is real. Is THAT kind of fantasy cheating because there’s another human role playing somewhere? What if the relationship was with the NPC? We’re already doing voice recognition and the avatars talk back and respond to your inputs – they PUSH back.

It’s really immersive even with conventional webcam chat, but it goes to a whole other experience with virtual reality and the occulus rift. We’re even working with augmented reality now to overlay live or prerecorded video, or a cgi partner over the top of the robot. We dont have any demo of that yet, but our goal is to look something like [NSFW]http://vimeo.com/64378881[NSFW] by the time we’re done.

We’ve used these devices for threesomes, which seem to be good for couples, the couple in the same room having “real” sex while the third party comes in on a surrogate robot. It seems a “safe” way for couples to experiment. Women have the most to gain, it’s a much safer outlet for casual encounters than inviting strangers from craigs list to their house.

We’re doing a lot here, and this is a very interesting subject – I’ll be happy to monitor this thread and weigh in more if anyone has questions or their own input for us.

It’s not infidelity if we talk about it beforehand. I’d be OK with this as long as our sex life didn’t suffer. But I would also be OK with him having another partner in real life, too (as long as I am allowed the same freedom).

This thread really makes me question why I’m not using the term teledildonocs every single freaking day. I’ve heard the term before, there’s no excuse. I really gotta get my life together.

beats me.

Do you have to buy your own equipment or are there vending machines out there?

I broke your link and put a NSFW warning on your video.

so you wanta have sex? deal breakers -
electronics for genitals,
pets in the room
any recording devices whatsoever

vanilla so sue me

Yes, I believe that’s the point of such a device.

The question is, is it cheating?
