Dog Days: An August MMP

I am so sorry things are going to shit at the dog park. You deserve to enjoy your time there as much as Barky mom and she is lucky I wasn’t there to see her being mean to you. I would have hid some kitty kibble in her glove box just to make Barky go nutz on the drive home.

I really hope your knee gets better soon. I didn’t know how precious the gift of pain free walking was until I lost it, so I really hope this is just a minor setback for you.

I didn’t know that dogs aged out of doggy day care, but the way you explained it sure makes sense. I know I’ve aged out of the loud, chaotic parties I used to love.

GG: Peoples are laughing. Peoples are happy. Happy people are give GG treats and scritches. GG are happy too!

She is beautiful. Ours also have the camera sense which is why the pics I have are all of sleeping cats and like you, sometimes I can’t even get them.

I used to blame the camera whine or click, but my phone is silent. Darn cats.

So, we just keep getting weather here. It’s wet enough that a lightning strike fire won’t do much more than kill a tree and scare people into packing cats into carriers (it was a very wet Cypress, lots of smoke, didn’t even singe the side of the house it was planted next to) and we really do need all the water we can get…but I’m getting a little tired of the constant emergency alerts. I don’t need to be woken up in the middle of the night to be told to shelter in place, that’s what I was already doing fer crying out loud.

Scottsdale had flooding and power lines falling due to the wind, Flagstaff is buying sandbags from a private company because they ran out of their rather large stockpile as soon as the water starting pouring down from the burn scars.

We had boomers and horizontal rain for a while, and lost power for the second time in a week. It was only for a minute, but long enough to shut hub’s comp down while he was in the middle of a huge battle against online monsters. He’s gotten kinda boring when that happens, he needs more curse words.

Today we tried using our air fryer to make rotisserie chicken and it turned out OK. Next time we will use different spices because it definitely had potential. I think smoked paprika would have made a world of difference, hubs thinks it needed more garlic. Hubs always thinks it needs more garlic so sometimes I kinda ignore his opinion…

Hubs has started putting his guns on consignment at a gun store. I have mixed feelings about this. He has loved shooting paper all of his life and is very good at it. He knows guns and ammo like I know thread and fabric. He has a safe full of guns he has collected over the years. He’s also a dumbass turmpie.

His rotator cuffs are so bad that his shoulder muscles are the only things holding his arms in the sockets. This can be surgically repaired. He has relatives who have had it done and have said nothing but good things about how much better they feel.

Now to my mixed feelings. We don’t need that many guns. Money is always a good thing. However, now might not be the best time to be putting more guns into the market. Selling his guns is admitting that he’s never going to get his shoulders fixed so I don’t want him to sell his guns because I want him to get his shoulders fixed.

So, power went down, but this was saved when it came back up…posted and I’m headed back to bed when the boomers stop.

Wow, it’s 59 F. The windows are gloriously open, and I’m so chilly that I put on fresh socks, a SWEATSHIRT, and a quilt on the bed.

After 30 years of melting in Texas, this is an amazing “problem” to have, especially in AUGUST ferchrissakes!

I’m amazed. Chilled, but happy.

Okay, Lucky Charms are assimilating so imma go shiver under my quilt. IN AUGUST!!

Already there. Just have to search for “dogs”, not just “dog”.

Or use the link:

Caught up, but now hubby wants to go for a short walk, so doing that now. See you all later!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 69! Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization. Afterwards we shall return to da cave for burgers (grilled extras yestiddy), nappage, and general overall sloth. That sounds like a good plan for the day to me.

sari the drama continues on Dawgs Of Our Lives. Maybe Barky/Humpy dad will be the major bringer to the park from now on. Seems to me that would resolve a lot of the issues.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I was definitely tired yesterday - woke just 2 minutes before my alarm was to go off, so it didn’t disturb FCD. I’ve showered, dressed (in the same grubbies from yesterday), tended the critters, and fed my face. I set a timer to remind me to get some tools before I leave. Daughter asked about a specific small roller handle, and I need a utility knife and hunk o’board for cutting the cove base. And I need to find the adhesive for the cove - if I can’t find it, FCD will have to buy some and bring it to us. We’ll be starting by cleaning and painting the trim and touching up anything we missed yesterday. Then cove, than moving back whatever furniture we can. Daughter and SIL plan to finish that tomorrow.

I want to check if I have any sheers (curtains) because the curtains that were in the office are ugly and brown. Anything I can give her is something she won’t have to buy. That’s why FCD made up a tool box for the school. They had a hammer. That’s it. They now have an assortment of hand tools in a rolling toolbox. But what they really need is a benefactor. The last headmistress set up a GoFundMe but it raised barely over a tenth of what they need. So one of daughter’s big challenges will be fundraising. Like to the tune of $50K or more.

Anyway, it should be a relatively short day for me helping her, which is good. I need to run a load of unders. I can leave the rest of the laundry till tomorrow, but I just put my last pair of shorty socks on this morning! :open_mouth: Must I resort to regular socks???

OK, Enough of this nonsense. Onward!

Happy Sunday!

I’m starting to use FB Marketplace as another comic page. Just now saw an ad for Sailboat Wenches - um, no, they’re winches. And another for a Trike Bikecycle instead of a tricycle??

Not much else to say about that, is there?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s 65 and cloudy right now. One advantage of a thermal carafe coffee maker(apart from it keep the coffee hot without cooking it like the hot plate ones) is I can have the carafe next to me so I can have another cup when I have an attack of feline paralysis.

It liberated me from the tyranny of 19th century spelling rules.

:pirate_flag:

Both Allie and Buddy are handsome cats seanette.

It sounds like Barky / Humpy mom wants to be the fun doggy parent, among other things, sari. They likely have some respect for the dad.

Moooooom, while I’ve made some purchases there, I’m with you on using Marketplace for comic relief.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, supper in the crock and fixing to do breakfast / lunch prep, then KP. Next week is a three day week before a five day weekend. I’ll be heading up to the family reunion and to see Dad and am taking Thursday off along with the following Monday.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m sure Pirates in the Caribbean had sailboat wenches…

Up about 7am, will get ready hear in a bit to dine out at Outback then the afternoon…is still up in the air. Apparently need to do some coach training (only good for a year) so that could take a couple of hours, and have several e-mails to get out. And maybe some time at the gym, if I remember they close at 6pm on Sundays.

Much thanks to all for the Dog referral. I was also having trouble finding it.

JtC, is he just stubborn about surgery, or afraid that something will go wrong and he’ll lose all arm mobility? And hope the weather calms down and goes back to being ‘but it’s a dry heat’ soon.

Nettie, nice dryer…

flyboy, y’all sure eat fancier than I do…  Sounds delicious.

OK, need to check out my Sunday morning You Tubers and then prepare for going out in polite company. All y’all take care.

Outback Steakhouse does breakfast?

Special occasion. It was, though my chicken could have used a lot more jalapeños. :fire: :hot_pepper:

This is the Pacific Northwest, though. Once I went to Uli’s in the Pike Place Market and bought some merguez sasages. I went back after I’d eaten them, and told Uli that they were good; but they needed to be twice as hot. Uli said he’d reduced the chiles by half because the full recipe was too hot for people.

He’s in Alabama. They do weird things like Outback breakfast, and putting mayo on their chicken.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently a nice 54 degrees with an expected high of 82. The forecast says partly cloudy skies in the morning with the full sun after noon today, but it’s fully sunny right now.

Sorry flyboy, but I HATE jalapenos. I think they taste like hot garbage smells and they ruin everything they touch. As for heat, I just can’t do it. Instant heartburn and I can’t stand stuff so hot that’s all you get. I like to actually taste the food and other herbs and spices. That’s just me though.

The husband and I have decided to go here today. Northwest Trek. It’s not far from home and he enjoys the place. I haven’t been there in a few years, so it’ll be nice to visit and walk around.

I’m sorry about the continued dogpark drama, sari. I think I’d just quit going there. You don’t need the additional stress.

I’m glad the compression socks are working, shoe.

Well, I should finish my coffee and get ready to move the sprinkler.

No breakfast there, they open at 11am and I’ll be there by 11:01am, just takes me awhile to get ready…and I for one do not put Mayo on my chicken–I have been known to put mayo on my french fries, blame Europe for that…

Press on.

Sunday is biscuits & gravy day at Walking Dead Manor, so my tummy is happy. Heading over later to have a visit with the daughter, and then will meet my former DIL and her sons for lunch. I have a roll-up of silver teaspoons to give my daughter. They date back to the 1800s and are of different designs and manufacture. I’ve been able to determine the provenance for most of them, so she’ll have that for posterity. One of them belonged to her 4th-great grandmother.

The wife is mostly recovered from her fall. Still some shoulder soreness, but good overall.

I’ve never been to an Outback. There was one by the orifice in Anaheim, but they weren’t open for lunch. I think the closest I got was when we would go to Black Anus Steakhouse.

Note to self: stay on the good side of JtC

I like you. You’ve got panache!

As do I. I consider it very civilized (as well as delicious).

Happy Sunday y’all!

It’s Fryday.

Just finished 2 slices of SPAM® (less a small tribute to Goo), 2 over-easy eggs, and a glass of V8. It was like the commercial.

During the year that I lived with my ex, we went to Outback for dinner every Sunday (it had been his habit since before we met, and neither of us cooked). For the most part I enjoyed it/didn’t mind. My mother also used to love Outback, and sometimes when I was visiting I’d get takeout for us. I don’t think I’ve been to one since she died in 2015.

Yesterday’s trip to Kohl’s was a success: I wanted to get a few basic t-shirts and polos in my current size, and the women’s “everyday” t-shirts were marked down to $5.85! Woot! My brain can’t yet process that I’m only a medium in pants and a large in tops: I have to try everything on, because I can’t judge whether something will fit just by looking at it. I figure that will take some time! I’m not complaining/it’s not a bad problem to have, it just makes shopping take longer (and I kind of hate trying things on).

I was exhausted last night, but I didn’t sleep well: I was up once at around 12:45am to pee (that’ll teach me to drink 1/2 bottle of Gatorade right before bed!), then again at around 5-6 am for no apparent reason. I woke up for good at around 7am, but today I’m a little tired. And a little sore, because I carried a lot of stuff/did a lot of walking yesterday.

This morning I finally put my laundry room back in order – it had been used for power/water/storage during the concrete work – and decided to vacuum it for the first time in a couple of years. I also put the trash cans and hose storage thingy back in place on the new patio, and decided to move my awesome thick plastic folding chairs from the laundry room to the patio (and I ordered a matching table). Then I started my laundry; the second load is probably ready for the dryer now. All of which has not helped with my tiredness/soreness, but I’m finally feeling like things are back to “normal” after the week’s activity and I’m happy. (Going to the office tomorrow will be a little abnormal, but not like the past week!)

Seanette, I second doggio’s “awwwww”! Those are some cute kitties!

Good memory! They told me it would be after the third treatment, which was yesterday, but when I got there I asked to see the pictures from my first day and there is already a noticeable change in the big tattoo (the one being completely removed). I could see some change in the other tat, as well: the dark blue that I’m having lightened is starting to look more green than blue, which is progress. I prefer going on Saturdays but so does everyone else – and they’re only open half days on Saturdays – so session #4 won’t be until the end of October (I’ll wait 11 weeks vs the usual 6-8 weeks). I should see some significant changes by next time even without a photo comparison, as my body will have had more time to absorb/process the ink that the laser broke up.

Same here! I played with that – and the dog one, once I found it – for waaay too long. Thanks, flyboy and BBBoo!

Sympathy/empathy is one thing, but between that and his attitude I say you need to find a new lawn guy. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Well, it’s 12:40pm…time to start the third-and-final load of laundry, then eat some lunch. I’d eat outside today if I had a patio table, but it won’t arrive until Wednesday. Ah well. There should still be a bunch of nice days this summer/fall when I can use it: I just need bearable temps, and enough of a breeze to keep the gnats away. I think today’s luncheon shall be a turkey sandwich (on low-carb bread) paired with some fresh fruit.
