Dog Days: An August MMP

Nurse Boo is thrilled to have a client benefitting from the slim pickings of her night nursey brain.

The secret to compression socks is to never ever ever dry in a dryer. Rinse out by hand and hang to dry (so you’ll need two pair).

Howdy Y’all! Mowage got accomplished, followed by beerverages on the back porch, followed by a shower, followed by more beerverages on the back porch while we watched an almost half an hour rain shower. Nappage was then achieved. I made the executive decision to grab some burgers outta da freezer this mornin’, so we et a late N.O.L./early sup of burgers 'n fixin’s and chips. All in all not too shabby of a day.

MOOOOOOM the paint looks good!

Oopsie glad all the porch/patio/steps work is done.

The google cat sounds are fun! I am easily entertained.

Ursala Kitteh didn’t even look up. I swear she is on the kitteh spectrum. She has no interest or curiosity.

Allie always reacts to such sounds coming from electronics (she also seems intrigued by selecting ringtones and such on my phone). Buddy didn’t seem to react at all.

Happy Saturday!

It was a nice and cool 54 degrees at the park this morning. Not too many people there considering how nice it was.

and the drama continues.

So, I didn’t go to the park Wednesday, I took Echo to daycare and came home with Ripple.
That is the day everybody went onto the small side and left Barky and Humpy by themselves on the big side.
Barky mom called me several times, but I wasn’t feeling too well and had taken a hot bath and a nap. She was a little upset, understandably, but in her mind, why would she want to hang around with such rude people anyway? She told me her side of the story, which was that Lucy1 and Coco went on the big side (their owners detest Barky mom). Stitch was on the small side with her. She was having tummy issues and asked Stitch mom to watch her dogs while she went to the restroom. She said she could hear her dogs barking all the way over there. In the meantime, Natty Boh had come and went on the small side, when she got back Stitch’s mom left, and then Rocky went on the small side because Rocky doesn’t play with Barky and Humpy. Truth be told, Rocky mom has issues with Barky/Humpy mom too.
Real truth to be told, almost everybody has issues with Barky/Humpy mom.
Barky/Humpy mom said she thought she wasn’t going to go to the park anymore.
Silent cheer from me.

I didn’t go to the park on Thorsday, because my knee is so bad, I can hardly walk. Nobody went from what I heard. I talked with Barky/Humpy mom that evening and I don’t know wtf her problem was, she was rude and nasty. I almost hung up on her.

I wasn’t going to go on Friday. I texted Lucy dad and said I didn’t think I was going. I was so slow getting ready to go get my son and I didn’t text anybody else to see what was up. My son was waiting outside for me when I got there, that is how late I was getting him. We talked a bit, and the dogs were acting up, so he said he would take the dogs into the park and I was going to wait in the truck for him. I texted Lucy dad back to ask if I could borrow a cane and let him know I was there. Lily was there, and I sent a text to Rocky mom. I didn’t text Barky/Humpy because 1, she said she wasn’t going anymore, and 2, I just didn’t think about it.
When Lucy dad brought a cane, I decided I would walk down to the pavilion anyway.
We were all sitting there peacefully, when Barky/Humpy showed up.

She came in and she was furious, she gave me the meanest look and I thought wtf? I guess because I hadn’t texted her? She gave Rocky mom a nasty look too. Half the people there got up and went over to the small side, taking Echo with them.
Then she was rude to Cleo mom, and Cleo is a new dog that she has never met. Why be rude to her? Cleo mom asked me what was wrong with her when Barky/Humpy mom was across the park, and I shouldn’t have said what I did, but I said nobody here likes her and she’s mad.
She showed her ass to Cleo mom, who has never done a thing to her.
I the meantime Jax showed up and Cleo kept pulling Humpy off Jax, and told Barky/Humpy mom that her dog was humping other dogs. Barky/Humpy mom just ignored her.
I think Cleo mom got a good idea why nobody likes Barky/Humpy mom.

Jax mom talked with her, which put her in a better mood.
Then Jack dad showed up and she talked with him. I don’t know what was going on there, but when Barky/Humpy mom turned her back, he made eye contact with me and was shaking his head like what the hell is going on here?

Now she is ignoring me, which is actually okay with me.
She didn’t show up this morning, which was okay with everybody.
After her behavior yesterday, I am pissed. There was no reason to be nasty to me. I don’t control what other people do, and I’m going to talk to everybody there whether she gets along with them or not.
I have been the one person defending her, and trying to deflect the nastiness.
I tried talking to her about Barky’s barking and how to fix it and she didn’t want to hear it. I let her know that everybody was tired of the barking, and she said too bad, it’s a dog park. If she wants to be rude to new people, then go for it. Then when they don’t like her either, she can’t blame anybody but herself.

I hope she stops coming. My stomach is in knots the whole time she is there anymore. The tension is thick.

Lucy dad told me Barky and Humpy came to the park with their dad this evening. He said the difference in their behavior was night and day.
Interesting, because he never takes them to the city park. If he takes them out it’s usually to a place for hiking.

On a good note, my son went to the park with me again today. I think he’ll continue to go as long as I am having trouble walking. Coco dad saw me hobbling around with the cane and brought me his rolling walker to use.
I was supposed to call the doctor yesterday, but I got so busy with irk that before I knew it, it was after 6. I’ll have to call on Monday.
At least now it only hurts when I walk on it. For a few days I was in non-stop pain no matter what I was doing.
I’m also pushing for my son to get his license; I told him if I need surgery, I probably won’t be able to drive for six weeks. He’s been helpful around the house, doing stuff I can’t get done. Even watering my houseplants, all 22 of them.

I’m pissed off at my lawn guy.
He was mad that my yard was so high.
He saw it last week; he had the mower out doing the house across the alley. He said it needed mowing, I asked him if he wanted to do it then, since he was right there with his mower. He said he didn’t have time, but would be out Wed of Thur of this week. I told him it was going to be bad by the time he got there, and he told me not to worry about it. He never showed up and my son was going to do it. Then he showed up yesterday, no call or text, cut the grass before talking to me, then proceeded to give me a bunch of shit about letting it go too long. Then he told me I have to go on a two-week schedule, which is fine by me. He didn’t need to be so damned nasty about it, and when I was talking to him, he turned around and walked out of the house.
The thing is… he never shows up when he says he will anymore. I still have tree trunks sitting in my parking pad from last year, he still hasn’t finished my fence which was supposed to be done weeks ago, he still hasn’t looked at my downspouts/gutters that he was supposed to do weeks ago. He tells me to write up a list of what I need done, and then he doesn’t do anything. I get that he is busy, and help is hard to find, but don’t get shitty with me when you aren’t doing as you say you will either.
I’ve been cutting him some slack because his wife died in November and it really messed him up. I know he hates living alone, and I think she used to help with the paper irk and keeping him on schedule, but damn, he talked down to me like I am a child.

I’ve started getting calls for my mother.
WTF is up with that? I don’t know how they got my number. It’s mostly stuff she donated to.
I still get emails for her, but that is because way back in the old AOL days, we (including my nieces) all shared the same email.
I stopped getting stuff for my nieces years ago, but the occasional one still comes through for my mother.

I’m with you Ooopsie. I am so far behind in the MMP, I think I will never catch up.

Both of my dogs will react to barking in the puter, but only Echo will watch Dog TV. Neither reacts to any other animal sound. Ripple reacts to voices he knows if I am on speaker phone.

We finished up the hot dogs tonight. The ones I bought for the family cookout on the 28th.

Nice painting FCM I like the light green color.

Glad everybody came through their procedures.

Poor GG. I wonder if he knows he is entertainment.

VanGo, I am with you on bushy tailed tree rats.
I wish my dogs could catch them. Or at least scare them enough to stay away.

I know I’m missing a bunch of stuff.
But almost time for bed, I think a short bath to soak my knee first.

Glad your concrete work went well oopsie.

Paint looks good Moooooom.

sari, Nelson tends to bark when I’m on the phone, speaker or no. The only one he’ll stop barking for is my sister (where he was born). She’ll give him some baby talk and he’s good.

Went up to Adams, TN, home of the Bell Witch today. While we didn’t go to the cave (we’d both been there before), we did have a good time taking back roads. When we got back to her house, my nephew had grilled us some bourbon-brown sugar marinated pork chops, made mashed taters, green beans, baked beans and slaw with fresh peach shortcake for dessert. I’s stuffed! Nelson was glad to see me when I got home though.

:notes: It’s 9:00 on a Saturday…:notes: Except it’s a Cuba Libre and I’m not old.
Up from naptime, and making Assian BBQ stirfry fro dinner.

:cat:
Alex Catt did not react.

Apparently the KGB and a lot of schools used the same architect.

Evening all. Did manage to do some exercise this morning and treated myself to a cheeseburger at the new Eggs Up place and did a little shopping. And that was about the extent of my energy today, napped a bit this afternoon and fixed some Fettuchini for dinner, but nothing much else worth telling.

Sari, I’m sorry for the continuing Drama at the Dog Park, but if the woman can’t even recognize that her dogs are the problem and that she has alienated one of her few…well, won’t call you a friend but maybe an advocate…you’ve done more than enough and I hope she stays away for some time.

And as for the rest, {{hugs}}

flyboy, tried the google cat sounds, and I don’t even have a cat. Wonder if they’ll do a one for dogs…

shoe, sounds like one of my meals (except for the Lucky Charms…I’m more of a Frosted Flakes/Rice Crispies sort).

FCM, pretty nice job on the painting, it’ll look better once stuff goes on the wall and the furniture is back in place.

bright tree, good on ya for helping out a friend. Hope it wasn’t too hot.

Oopsie, glad to hear the new steps are installed. And good on you too for helping a friend in need.

OK, assorted hugs, laughter, and smiles doled out as needed. All y’all take care.

Just got back from our early anniversary dinner (two days early, and reservation was for 16:15). We both had French onion soup. I had a raw oyster. I had the jalapeño chicken, and the Spousal Unit had beef stroganoff. She had a sazerac. I asked for a Vieux Carré, and of course they’d never heard of it. But miracle of miracles, they had Benedictine liqueur. I got my Vieux Carré. And a second one. Wifey liked it better than the sazerac, so she got one for her second drink too. Now that we’re home, I’ve made myself a Vieux Carré.

There’s a bunny in the front yard, and a family of raccoons ambled across the back yard.

They did :grinning:! Google ‘dog’ tap the paw print in the upper right and then an image and you’ll get a “woof”. Works like the cat one but a little slower. Can’t wait to get home and try it out on my kitties.

Both cats seemed to feel a need to check on in me while I was in the tub. Allie normally does this when I head in there. She’ll hang out for a few minutes, get petted, get a few drinks, then go on about her day. Buddy came in a bit later, kind of peering over the edge of the tub, then hopped up on the toilet for a different angle on the matter. The worried look on his face was funny.

I don’t get the paw when I search dog.

Neither did I. Chrome on a Windows 10 laptop.

I tried copying link:

https://g.co/kgs/yii9SR

I’m using Chrome, on an iPad Pro. Typing dog into google and clicking on first result . It’s a little pokey. Click on the purple circle in right hand corner that has a black paw print. It’s slow, I had to click or tap it twice, a paw comes out and taps the paw print leaving a paw print stamp. Tap again and other paws come out and bark or woof. Tap on an image and get another woof and a different colored paw comes out to leave a stamp.

That worked. Got Princess Allie’s attention. Not sure if Buddy noticed or cared, since he’s in another room, hanging out in the dryer.

Which also makes me smile when I think about it. My cats just are that not cute or fetching. I’m not getting my money’s worth.

Here’s a picture:

Imgur

As usual, he’s very focused on his nap.

I know I post a lot more pictures of Buddy than of Allie. He’s a much more cooperative photo subject, but I did get an adequate one of Allie.

Imgur

She was curled up snoozing cutely, but noticed me picking up my phone and bringing up the camera app.

Awwwwwww

Turns out, one of the fringe benefits of joining the Mumper Crew is near-24/7 access to an on-call nurse!

Seriously, you bring lots of wisdom, both medical and non.

I did not know that. I have dutifully put today’s socks into my mesh bra zip-bag, since bras never go into the dryer, either.

Thank you, seriously - it didn’t say anything about “no dryers!” on the packaging, and I’d hate to ruin them right away.

No excuse for that.

Clearly, the Cuba Libre was working.

Linky worked for me, thanks. Cute!!

Alright, it’s almost 2:30 a.m. and I haven’t even been home for 20 minutes. Am lying on my back with my feet propped up, but I need to regain verticality, at least long enough to get some cereal or something into me.
There’s some pasta and chicken broth left over from lunch (I made a fairly big batch) so I’ll start there.
