Dog Days: An August MMP

Omahans are understandably jumpy about shopping center gunshots. In 2007 a gunman killed 8 and injured 4 at a Von Maur shopping center anchor location.

I like spicy foods. I like habeneros, good heat, plus they have some nice fruity notes.

  1. Dinner with rosie. The food wasn’t bad, but the company was great.

Reminds me of when I lived in Da Hood.

The cord management is making me twitch.

Lord, even The Five Toed Sloth isn’t that lazy and spoiled.

My daughter worked at the branch bank in the parking lot of that mall when that shooting happened. They were locked down for a couple of hours

Glad to hear she was safe. Unnerved me and I was 60 miles away but had been in that store recently.

That’s because nothing is hooked up yet. You should have seen the spaghetti that the departing honcho left… Tomorrow is set-up-the-computer-day. You can stop twitching.

Spitting rain here - a shower would be nice. We may attempt to go to the boat tomorrow. Or not. We’ll figure that out when we get up. For now, chillage continues.

VBC says No.

You got it! (I want him to sell it now while it’s still running. Harley’s need lots of attention, leaving one sit for a couple of months is a good way to turn it into a project instead of a motor vehicle.)

I don’t like cilantro, I think it tastes like soap. I understand that is a genetic thing as is the enjoyment of peppers, so I never judge. If someone thinks a sweet, fruity jalapeno is too hot spicy to eat, I certainly wouldn’t try to force my opinion on them because they really cannot taste the flavor, only the heat.

Hubs likes it when I pickle peppers for him and I don’t like those at all, so I can’t really play with the recipe like I normally would do.

I get it. Our tastes change and we end up with a bunch of expensive toys that we don’t want to give up because we wanted them sooooo much back when we bought them. Some day I’m going to deal with the three large boxes of crystal beads I just had to have back when my eyes ere good enough to play with them.

We got more rain and boomers today. The low spots in our yard aren’t drying out anymore because the ground is so saturated. Our clover patch is knee high and the mountains are turning green. It’s wonderful but sadly isn’t enough to raise Lake Mead more than half an inch.

Evening all. Nappage was completed and woke up in time to pedal off a few calories at the gym, sammiches have been eaten for dinner and all is right with the world. Getting several long e-mails out tonight that I have been prevaricating about this weekend, nothing earth-shattering but still…soccer gets going in earnest this week and games start on the 27th of August, so hope it cools down by then (91F today).

Cookie, time does go by way to fast.

FCM, nice job on the office.

VanGo, sounds like you’ve earned that drink-n-chill time. As did Flyboy

OK, need to finish up a couple more e-mails and then get after the Sunday crossword puzzle (kinda proud of myself on the Jumbles; solved all six 6-letter words and then figured out the response with two 8-letter words. Clue was 'animals opened a furniture store to provide…" Answer was: creature comforts

Catch all y’all on the next MMP.

Ugh. There’s another thing. The maple we had cut down several years ago keeps trying to come back to life. I have to get out with the machete or the (electric) chainsaw.

so my phone’s display started dying, and it went tits up right before I could back it up to the spare phone. Google got 80% restored, but I lost a lot of auto completes, and 3 months of texts, like “Sup?” “A 2 meter sphere of Unobtanium” and “Set it on fire, and go day drinking.”
[Pooh]Oh, bother.[/Pooh]

I did not know they tasted like this.

Happy Sunday!

It was a nice 61 degrees at the park this morning.
I’m surprised the last two days have been pretty quiet considering how nice the weather is.
My son went with me, he took the dogs, I used the walker.

No drama of the human kind, today was the day for the dogs to show their asses.
I have no idea how it started, but there was a pretty big fight, and of course, Echo had to get in it. I think she may have started it, but I’m not sure. There were 4-5 dogs that got into it. Even Lucy started to join in, and Lucy never moves for anything but a squirrel. However, she likes Echo and will come to her defense.
Unfortunately, they were under the picnic table where nobody could reach them.
Echo has some marks on her, but no blood, so she’ll live.
She looked upset, but I’m not sure if it is because I stopped her, or if because she was getting her ass kicked.

I think Ripple should be a dog service dog. A new dog came that was very shy and nervous. She hid under the other picnic table the entire time. Ripple went over to make friends. He’s very slow and quiet with shy dogs, and he sat with her for a bit. He tried to entice her to come out a play, but she wasn’t having it.
He has a kind heart.
Echo doesn’t.

Taters, when there is no drama at the park, it is great fun and sadly, my only social life.
I still haven’t heard from Barky/Humpy mom, and I’m not sure I want to call her to check on her.
I don’t know why she was mad at me.

JtC, it would be great fun to put kitty kibble in her car. She already gets mad at me because I carry bribes in my pockets to get Echo to leave. Her dogs want the bribes, and cling to me the whole walk out. She gets mad because they won’t listen to her. She tells me I don’t need to bring them. ::Sigh:: she tells me a lot.
It’s kind of a petty thing too, but all of us regulars sit in the same place all the time. Sometimes if she got there before me, she would not only sit where I sit, but she would kind of spread out. It irritated the hell out of me, even though I know it’s petty of me. I feel like it’s a little power play. But it’s one of those kinds of things where you know what the other person is doing, but you can’t really say anything without looking childish.
But, I’m probably too sensitive or something.

My knee is hurting today. I think I tried to do too much yesterday. The only thing that makes it feel better is to lay down and rest it.
I got a brace with a pocket for an ice pack today. I hope it helps.

How scary for you and your wife Hippie.
So many assholes running loose in the world, be nice if we could round them up and stick them all in one place together.

I like jalapenos, in smaller doses.
Cilantro is okay with me, but there is another spice that tastes like dish soap to me. I forget what it is, but it is used in Pakistan.

I’m afraid any cat who wanted me to carry their food to them would end up starving. Same goes for the dogs, and son too.

Outback, Longhorns; isn’t there another one? All kind of interchangeable to me. I know I’ve eaten at them at some point, but I couldn’t tell you which is which.

I get where JtC’s hubby is coming from. I don’t like surgery because I don’t like the pain afterwards. If I get enough drugs to kill the pain, I don’t like my foggy brain. Getting surgery is like losing a big chunk of your life, because you are either too messed up or in too much pain to function.

So many cute kitties.

Ooopsie, I am considering finding another lawn guy.
This one was good for a long time. Now he’s slacking.
Sad.

That’s what the flesh tastes like to me, very nice and tangy. The seeds add heat, but no extra flavor, IMHO so I remove them. Everyone is different, I put jalapenos just a step over bell peppers but way under habaneros. Habaneros also have a nice flavor but the heat is almost enough to distract from the flavor.

Oh, gosh, I hope you are able to eat paprika. It spices up so many foods but some people just cannot tolerate it.

I think that you are too nice for your own good. You nod and smile when you should be telling her that she needs to worry about her dogs and you will worry about yours. She wants to be the alpha in the park but doesn’t get that humans react differently than dogs.

I am so sorry. Have you been able to talk to your doctor about this? Some problems can be helped with supplements and gentle stretches and exercise, some need more work.

The idiot I married needed heart surgery but refused to have it until he had a really big heart attack that the quad bypass might have stopped. That took a good ten years off his life. He’s had covid three times because he refused to get vaxxed or wear masks. (Yeah, he did get vaxxed under pain of me spending a lot of money for another idiot kitten.) I’m fairly sure I’m going to be a widow within the next 5 years and my plan is to bring his ashes home and plant them in the clover so I can sit on my porch and tell him what an idiot he was every time I go outside. Hmmm, do I sound irritated or anything?

They don’t request such service, I just felt a bit over-indulgent.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I got Gordie out and back seconds before the rain started. See y’all in the next MMP(Will it be started by an insomniac? Will one of the retired sloths get up early enough? We wait with baited breath)!
