Dog Days: An August MMP

(Poking in snoot) Oh, I do hope so. It’s been driving me a little mad, but I know you all sometimes speak in language that occasionally befuxxels me, so I left it alone. If @dogbutler gives the go-ahead, I will fix the title in short order!

And do stick around either way! We can always use an addition to the chaos.

Also, “befuxxels” is the best word I’ve read in quite some time.

Ah, well, that’s a most kind invitation! And one I’ve been sorely tempted to engage in on occasion.

In truth, however, I’d be embarrassed to disclose events of my double-good boring life on a regular basis. Put it this way: I’m prepping for a colonoscopy on Wednesday this week, and that’s the highlight of my doin’s. Tells you everything you need to know (and likely a bit more!).

Thank you for the invite, all the same. I do very much enjoy reading your threads.

We are still kicking, despite a big storm that hit yesterday. It came complete with “shelter in place” announcements due to high winds and sideways rain. At one point I saw that the wind had gotten a side on the bird seed tub open so I ran out the back door, took five steps to get to the tub, half a second to pound the lid down and ran back in to stand on the door rug soaked to the skin and dripping water.

Our poor little pomegranate is all knocked over and half of the tomatoes are gone or damaged.

We also lost power and internet for a few hours around 5, so we couldnt even stitch to entertain ourselves.

My life isn’t that exciting currently, either, but the gang don’t seem to object to the cat updates and other random stuff I post about.

Back from the AT&T store. The wife settled for a $65 phone. I bought one for $250 for myself, just because. I have a feeling that there may not be an appreciable difference in the two other than a better camera, but I just didn’t feel like going on the cheap (yes, I know that phones sell for much more). They didn’t have any inexpensive Samsungs in stock, so we both have AT&T phones.

Oh, I’m a big Buddy and Allie fan. I love reading about their exploits!

Laundry is in the dryer, nappage has occurred. Wheeled the big bin back up before I was the last one on the street, so I don’t win “Least Responsible Adult On The Block” this week.

Concur.

See, already contributing fun stuff!

That’s kinda the point, sweetie.

Well, who ELSE is gonna keep you company? Huh?

Oh, and since we got sidetracked: show of hands, who wants the thread title fixed?

(It makes my little copy editor heart shrink a bit, but let’s see what the majority vote is.)

… and yeah, no, I’m not making a poll.

Afternoon all. Got the whirlpool and sauna done but the pool was full for the enitre hour I was there, so swimmin’ will have to wait. I will be outdoors with soccer players for an hour or two tonight, so that should make up for the laps not swum.

JtC, that sounds like it was quite a storm, glad you and house are OK.

Aspenglow (until someone comes up with a better one, bright tree will be your MMP name), colonoscopies are right up are alley, most all of us have had one or will be having one soon.

Concur. Kind of like bumfuzzle, but a little more discreet…

Oopsie, glad the step-work is going well. Now if the weather cooperates.

Wheelie, love the penguin walk; reminded me of the Peabody Hotel’s Duck walk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7ofs31f6Co

OK, need to start preparing for soccer with a bunch of 8 year old girls…and 30+ year old parents…

Take care all.

Geez, the title needs fixing . . . urgently.

I washed pots and pans this morning. The stainless steel can go into the dishwasher, but I like to hand-wash them with the non-stick ones.

I’ve made a pound of bacon, so we can have BLTs for dinner or whenever.

Details please. This is the stuff we thrive on.

Gotta vote in favor, being a bit of a proofreader at heart myself. Yes, I do commit typos that go unnoticed until it’s too late to edit. I cringe every time.

That’s awfully personal (Just pretend that’s a Groucho Marx face)

I hope that your knee gets un-weird soon VanGo.

doggio, the college town where I lived up north had a Dog Daze festival every year during the second week of August, complete with a parade. Anymore, August is when I head up north for the family reunion and school begins, slowing down my commute home.

bright tree, most of the MMP is familiar with my dog’s dog park buddies, the neighbor dogs and the fact that I’m sometimes a professional flasher, so, no, you are not too mundane for us.

It stormed this afternoon here, but was down to a sprinkle when I left irk and had quit altogether by the time I walked Nelson. After KP, we’re in for the night.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I had been thinking bright tree too, so …

1.) Great minds think alike.

2.) You’re one of us, now. (“One of us! One of us!”)

3.) Heya, Opal, we remember you!

Was delighted to discover that I do, in fact, still have some 'Murrican cheez (“fuck yeah!”) and that + the existence of fresh sammich bread in my house vastly increases the chances that I’ll have a proper grilled cheese for dinner later.

Meanwhile, I’ve fetched the laundry from downstairs, and put away all of it … some of it … I folded … okay, I hung up one of the towels.

I do. Hurts my prooofreading nitpit head.

Besides, we are august folks in August.

Okay, okay. If @dogbutler doesn’t weigh in before I finish making this post, I’ll fix the title on the grounds that the majority carries the day.

You guys work fast!

Remember, you asked…

I will say this. Who knew I could miss pepper so much?? I’m on the second day of the three-day prep, the grand finale of which is yet to come starting tomorrow late afternoon. Until that gets underway, I’m on a restricted diet. It basically consists of Eating Nothing I Regularly Consume. No fresh vegetables or fruits, no whole grains, no pepper, no nuts, no seeds or spices, no avocados or beans. No crunchy peanut butter!!

In response to this abrupt change in diet, my body rebelled and got an early start on the Blowout Festival segment of the proceedings.

This isn’t my first rodeo, but I don’t remember all this fussing last time over the diet restrictions. I suppose everything changes.

Anyway, late Wednesday afternoon can’t come soon enough for this old girl.

JtC, I’m glad you came through the storm without worse damage, although I know the beat-up pomegranate tree is painful. I hope it recovers. Sorry about the tomatoes, too.

metalmouse, stay cool with the soccer youngsters. Your neck of the woods is brutal in the weather department at this time of year.

shoe, glad you’re eating better and that laundry is done. Now I have to think about doing mine!

Thanks to all for your warm welcomes!

I’ll fix the thread title now.
