Dog Days: An August MMP

colonoscopies are right up are alley,[/quote]
Alley? Is that what you call it???

Another vote for befuxxels - it belongs in the MMP lexicon.

As for the typo - definitely needs to be fixed. We don’t think any less of doggio for having committed such a faux pas. Come to think of it, could we think any less of him under any circumstances???

d&r

:kissing_heart:
Anyway, he works nights, so we won’t hear from him for a while.

Back from Texas Roadhouse. SIL texted and asked if we wanted to meet them for supper, so we did. Tobias was a hoot - trying to stuff an entire yeast roll in his mouth, climbing out of the child seat, and all sorts of antics. Roxy sat next to me, and occasionally on my lap - even offered to let me eat the lemon from her water. Um, no thanks…

Nope. I’ve had this procedure a couple of times and the only restriction was nothing with red or purple dye the day before. So either you’ve got some weird condition or a weird doctor or the medical community has changed its mind since I was subjected. This year, I did the mail-away test. It was much more pleasant, for me anyway. I wonder about the poor folks an the lab who get the samples.

Sleeping with Mel tonight - hoping for more than 4 hours.

Must be a weird doctor. I have no weird conditions and the one I had 12-ish years ago was fine. I guess he just likes things squeaky clean.

Fingers crossed for good sleep for you tonight, FCM!

I had to do that recently. Aside from the lab people (who are probably desensitized by now), I also feel a bit sorry for postal workers dealing with those envelopes.

Envelopes? Mine went in a plastic container in a heavy plastic bag in a box.

Mine had the little vial, a pad to wrap around it (reminded me of those thingies you find under meat in a grocery store tray), a small ziploc, and a cardboard envelope.

Somewhere, someone referred to them as “meat diapers” and I’ve neve been able to un-think that.

… and now, dear Mumpers, you may think of it that way, too!

Evening all, soccer went well, we have a guest coach from England with our program for the next couple of weeks and he handled the workout with a little help from me, plenty of water breaks for the kids. Next session is Wednesday. Was going to fix a Sallit, but decided to let Culver’s do the heavy lifting tonight and Burger and Fries are now assimilating in my stomach.

…a kid after my own heart…

shoe, grilled cheeses are a good thing. Enjoy.

No nap today, so hopefully I’ll get to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up…who knows when. All y’all have a good night/good morning.

Howdy Y’all! We did quality cee-mint pond time, achieved nappage, day drank, fixed and et sup and added to our general overall uselessness cred today.

bright tree welcome, and the cool thing about a colonoscopy is that you get pictures of your colon to share with family and friends afterward! How fun is that! Plus TMI is always welcome here.

JtC I take it y’all are back from the stitchin’ convention? Hope GG got through the storm OK.

Cookies yay for new phone toys! I upgraded my iPhone (pretty much the cheapest one) January of last year and still not sure of all the things it can do.

Oopsie hope all the repair work goes smoothly and accordin’ to plan.

shoe there are times when nuttin’ will do but a grilled cheese sammich, a bowl of mater soup, and a glass of milk will do. Sometimes my inner five year old cub needs to be fed. Meat diaper made me giggle.

MOOOOOOM I am impressed by the Tobester! He is way ahead of the curve. Usually boys don’t attempt the whole yeast roll in the mouth until around two years old.

Up from naptime. Having an Old Fashioned.

Oops. “My phone’s otter corrupt is full of shirt.”(and I got a "C’ in typing in Junior High)

Our work is done. And stick around, I make lost of typnos.

< runs FairyChat packages through BoxCrusher9000TM twice, and reroutes them to Abu Dhabi >

I get both at work, since we have the State Crime Lab, Vet School, Ag Department, and 2000 labs in the area. I did have a urine sample fall out once, but the leak was contained.

Nope. They’ve really changed the protocol. In part, it does make things a lot easier on you when you get to the big finish/big cleanout. Just remember to drink as much water as you possibly can. The more fluids you get through you, the easier it goes. So to speak.

Thanks for the information on the current state of this procedure and also for your good advice. I plan to keep water and tea to hand at all times.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Up, certainly disheveled, should heave myself into bed.

I better hurry before certain overachieving Mumpers get up and start willy nilly accomplishing grown up stuff before I make it to sleep.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 16c/61f with a predicted high of 26c/79f and mostly sunny. Weather app says “Finally. A day without fucking swamp ass”. OK, I can deal with that…

bright tree welcome to the wonderful world of the Mumpers! Barely been here five minutes and you’ve already got a mumper name…you’re doing well! And TMI, it’s what we live for!

I got up this morning to a moment of confusion. Whisper was in the bedroom (unusual for him as the aircon unit is on and he doesn’t like the noise), Ophelia was in the bedroom and they were both staring at the door. Shadow was outside on the other side of the door staring their way. I went towards the bathroom and saw another stripey cat on the chair in my office. Hmm…yes, that’s Spare Cat! We are temporarily calling him Socks since he’s tabby with a lot of white on his back legs. He obviously prefers the food in our place to wherever he calls home as it looks like he’s trying to move in.

He came close enough for a little bit of fuss today and didn’t immediately run downstairs and out of the house when I started moving around doing stuff.

In other news, the commonwealth circus is over and travel has returned to more recognisable levels of Hell  One more day of this, then I am on leave until Monday. Hurrah!

Monkey is chasing a rodent. I just saw the little bugger, and it’s not one of mine so there’s an honest-to-og mouse in the house.

Exciting start to the morning … the damn sun hasn’t even risen! I can hear crickets? tree frogs? chirping in the darkness.

And that’s how Crazy Cat Ladies begin… For some reason, our yard seems to attract felines, which is odd to me because our cats are strictly indoor critters and I don’t put food or water outside. Plus the dogs next door occasionally wander into our front yard (I’ve managed to block them out of the back.) However, the two we have are it, and when they’re gone, there shall be no more.

We don’t have rodents in the house (that I know of) but of late, we’ve seen ants in the kitchen. Yesterday I moved the convection oven and the toaster, and discovered many crumbs beneath, so I see what’s attracting them. Just don’t know how they’re getting in. I did clean up the crumbs and I need to remember to get some ant traps.

Mel put me to sleep in short order last night, but I still woke too many times to visit the throne room. Guess I drank too much water at dinner. All told, tho, I got close to 8 hours of unconsciousness, so that’s a win.

I’ll be bringing Roxy back to my house after school, at least for this week and until my daughter figures out her new work routine. If she finishes early enough, I’ll just take the kids back to her house and meet her there, but if her work day is longer, they’ll be coming home with me. I guess we’ll see in a month or so.

Today would have been my parents’ 70th anniversary. Dad only made it to their 50th, but Mom has done really well in the years since he died. I think she truly enjoyed being on her own for the first time in her life. At 18, she went from living with her parents to being married, and at 20, she birthed me, ending up with 5 of us by the time she was 31. Her time was never her own. But once she figured out widowhood, she adapted quite well. I’m sure it helped that there are 5 of us near at hand when she needs something, not to mention the assorted sons-in-law. Anyway, 70 years ago, it began…

When SIL brings Tobias over, he’s going to help FCD move a sheet of steel into the shop for the to-be-built water pump/accumulator/filter unit for the boat. I was supposed to be the helper, but I’m not above asking a 30-something to do the manual labor I don’t want to do. That means FCD will spend much of today working in his shop, cutting and welding and probably cussing and fussing. And I’ll probably be in the basement with the kidlet because he’s easier to wrangle down there, plus there are lots more toys.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and partly N.O.S. for the day. We shall see. Today is, I can hardly contain myself, laundry day! Sup shall be chikin enchiladas (made with some of the chikin I smoked Firday), rice, and refried beans. OLÈ! Fartfest to follow. The rest of the day shall be spend in the usual sloth and general overall uselessness that is our wont.

BooFae congarats on the new kitteh overlord.

bright tree the procedure for a colonoscopy has indeed changed over the years. It’s still a PITA (Heh!), just a little less of one.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I replaced the TV in Sunflower’s sewing room. Friday evening the House, who has been exhibiting much more self awareness lately, decided to take over the volume control. While she was watching the TV and happily sewing away the volume dropped to zero. Turning it back up lasted for a few minutes and then it dropped again. Rinse, repeat. I moved the home theater soundbar in as a temp fix and we made our way to the furniture store for the new TV.

It came in yesterday. I got it installed and went through all of various settings to get it connected to WiFi and cable. It was all good. She sewed for the afternoon and then shut it off while she watered the grass. After dinner ( I made some nice chicken enchiladas) she went back in and turned on her new TV. The House had realized that we had dealt with the last SNAFU and decided that about a third of our cable channels now needed to broadcast in Spanish. I went through the settings numerous times, making sure all were set to English.

I could almost hear the House snickering as I called LG tech support. I got a representative pretty quickly. She had an accent that I could not place and was very difficult to understand and sounded like she was talking to me from a noisy bar in Avalon. She also obviously did not understand my issue and gave me another number to call for “The Spanish Department” I called that number. It rang twice and then hung up on my Rinse, repeat, House chuckling in the background.

I called customer service at the store where we bought the TV. In the other room, Sunflower also called the store just about the same time. My rep asked if I had contacted LG. When I told her how it had went she put me on hold and called her secret tech support number for LG and transferred me. This rep spoke understandably and was not in Avalon. She walked me through the settings once more and then asked me to change the channels on the TV to see which ones were in Spanish. She pointed out that, if the TV was the problem, they would all be in Spanish. Very astute! Why did I not think of it? In my defense, the new TV was the change in the equation. The House chuckle, while still not actually audible, was more evident.

I called Cox Cable tech support. This guy’s accent was not as difficult to understand as LG lady number one. As all good Microsoft Sheeple do, the first thing he had me do was to turn the cable box on and then back on. No help. We walked through the language settings on the cable remote. All English. We scrolled through a few channels, some in English, some in Spanish. Repeat checking the language settings, Turn off and on, language settings. I told him that we are getting nowhere. He said that we could fix this with the remote. I gave up on him and hung up. Sunflower told me that we were going to take the cable box and the remote back to Cox in the morning. I said that I hoped it would work and gave up on the problem for the night.

The House gave out an almost audible sigh of satisfaction.

This morning I took the cable box out of my den and installed it on the new TV. No Spanish. So Sunflower’s solution will likely work. She is a very smart lady.

The House is grumbling to itself and planning its next escapade…

hippy, loved the story of the Cable box and the malevolent House. Hopefully the replacement box will work fine and foil the evil domicile…

FCM, I remember meeting your Mom several years ago when I visited. Very bright and well-traveled lady, a semi-happy anniversary (since her husband has passed) and many more years of seeing her great-great grandkids grow up.

boo fae, hope you have room for another cat, cause sounds like you’re getting one.

Not much on the agenda for today, will get to the gym for some bicycling to nowhere, there is a 50% chance of tunder-boomers today so we’ll see if soccer gets practiced or not.

All y’all take care.

Just ordered 2 tons of pellets for delivery - we should get them the end of this month or early in Sept. Before then, we need to clear the space in the garage.

The crawling terror finally went down for a nap, so I have a little bit of peace for a while. FCD is in his shop playing with steel. Heat advisory till tonight. I am soooooo over summer!
