That’s too bad. The sheep themselves make noise, so I’m not sure why taking the chimes off would help. Don’t the chimes serves a purpose for the farmer?
I prefer Coke Zero to Diet Coke myself (so does DH). To each her own.
Keep it on hand in case of mechanical failure or water issues?
Launched my morning with a cat scare, in the form of meows when I couldn’t account for Allie. Checked to make sure she hadn’t snuck outside without my knowledge, opened several closed interior doors to verify she wasn’t trapped in a room she didn’t want to be in, etc… Little stinker turned out to be under the headboard and just fine. Buddy, of course, was accounted for. In the middle of the bed, and yes, I’d been contorted around him. How an 11-lb. cat is that good at taking up that much space and getting the sleeping human to accommodate him, I have no idea. (And now I’m irked because I had to look up how to spell “accommodate” when I normally know that.)
If it was a large enough area, I would expect the bells help find the wayward sheep. The field is about the size of four football fields, so it’s unlikely any sheep will get lost.
I still think they should have kept their bells. The church bell is still chiming every quarter hour, as it has for the last 140 years (since 1876, even though there’s been a church building since the 1500s).
And now my husband’s playing a youtube video of the bells. Probably confuse the neighbors, since it’s not the right time.
I thought I was done with it when I quit deploying in the military in 1984. When my skivvies came out of the washer I always enjoyed seeing what color the painter who used the washer before me was using that week.
Tonka was the Alpha. When Creamsickle came, and then Goo after Creamsickle died, Tonka took to inappropriate urination. (‘You’re my mom! I urinate on youtr clothes!’) So when Tonka died, she wanted a female companion for Goo… not yet hearing that you shouldn’t get two females. Goo wants to be friends, but Abbey doesn’t. They’re actually getting along better now, especially over the last couple of weeks.
Goo isn’t very affectionate. You have to pet her. She does get on the arm of ‘Mom’s’ chair (especially if the Spousal Unit is eating something), and she’ll curl up on the ottoman; but she’s not a ‘love bug’. Abbey is very affectionate and loves to roll around and have her belly rubbed. I can’t help but think Goo might be jealous. I’d hate to alienate either cat by bringing in another ‘sweet, friendly, great’ cat.
Happy Hump Day.
It’s dreary outside.
I took Echo to daycare. I made the decision to take Ripple out of daycare.
Last week when I was picking up Echo, I told one of the girls that works there that Ripple doesn’t want to go anymore. She had her dog with her and said that that was her dog’s last day as he had aged out of daycare.
I looked it up, it is a thing. It’s compared to people growing up, when you are young you like to party and hang out with groups of friends, as you get older, partying isn’t as much fun and you get more selective of your friends. Some dogs age out at 1, some at 3, some never.
We have to make reservations now, so I cancelled Ripple’s reservation for today.
When we got there to drop off Echo, Ripple got all excited and I thought oh crap, maybe he wants to go. When my son opened the door, Ripple tried to get in my lap, so I think, no, he really doesn’t want to go anymore.
At least he still likes the park.
Too much drama there, and I guess it kind of blew up today.
I’m glad I wasn’t there.
Barky and Humpy went, so Lucy dad went onto the small dog side. He was joined by Coco dad, who is mad at Barky/Humpy mom because she yelled at Coco for barking in another dog’s face, when her dogs do it all the time. There are a bunch of new dogs, and all of them went on the small side with Lucy and Coco. Even the new dogs/people are tired of Barky and Humpy. Some of them have made comments to Barky to be quiet, and one woman got upset when Barky and Humpy cornered her dog under the table. She jumped up and said, OH NO! You’re not going to gang up on my dog. Whenever the other dogs try to play, Barky and Humpy get into the mix and keep barking in the other dogs’ faces.
It happened over the weekend too, but not everybody went to the small dog side. A few did as soon as Barky started barking, but with a large group, it wasn’t as noticeable.
TBH, Barky/Humpy mom has been kind of quiet lately, and she has been stepping up to control her dogs a bit more, but I think it is too little too late.
I feel bad, because even though I like Barky/Humpy mom, it is only on a one-to-one basis. She is fine then, but in a group setting I can feel the tension, and she’s different in a group. I’m always happy on the days she isn’t going to the park. Then I feel guilty for not wanting her there.
I just want to get along with everybody, and I don’t want to have to choose a side.
I tried to tell her that people were upset with the barking. Her attitude was so what, it’s a dog park, get over it.
Then she bitches because Stitch picked up Coco’s habit of splashing water out of the bowl. Well, it’s a dog park, get over it.
I just don’t need this drama now.
If she says anything to me, I am pleading ignorance. I only know what went on because Lucy dad texted me.
I’m dealing with enough family bullshit
One, my mother lied about what was in the trust. Niece1 told the lawyer, this is what my grandmother wants, it’s what she told me to do, and my grandmother told all of us the same thing.
Too bad, because grandmother never changed it in writing.
I need to find out the name of the lawyer, because I have some questions and I don’t want to ask my nieces.
Two, my sister is not giving back the ring she took for ‘safe keeping’. She admitted to Niece1 that she lied and never had any intention of giving it back. I am not surprised, my sister has always been a liar and a thief, I just didn’t think she’d lie in her own daughters’ faces that way. Niece1 was pissed, and apologized to me for letting her mother take the ring. She said she can’t believe her mother would do that. I said I can, and now you see her for who she really is, a liar and a common thief.
I said you two (both nieces) have been trying to get me to make up with your mother and for us to talk again. I said now you see why I won’t, so don’t ask me anymore.
I can sue her, but I don’t know if it’s worth it. I need to find out how to print the text messages where NIece1 talks about her refusing to give it back. My nieces would have to testify and I don’t know if I would ask them to do that. It is their mother.
That said, one little thing she pulled at the restaurant after the funeral is coming back to hit her in the face.
Her asshole husband stood up to make a toast.
He toasted my mother, (she detested him and he wasn’t too fond of her either, but whatever).
That’s all cool.
Then he made a second toast to Niece2, who truly deserved it as she cared for my mother 24/7, cooking, cleaning, changing diapers, bathing, she did it all. Then he included Niece1, who also did a lot. She took my mother to most of her appointments, kept the schedules, coordinated everything, asked the questions, and kept up with the test results. Then he included my sister and that was a bit of a wtf, because she didn’t do all that much.
He didn’t mention me or my son at all. Truth be told, we didn’t do as much since we both have to work and live further away.
When he sat back down and I heard him say to my sister how did you like that? I knew it was intentional snub. It’s what I would expect from them and it didn’t bother me because I know what they are.
What I didn’t expect was the reaction from other people.
My mother’s friend was sitting across from me and she said, there is a right way to do things, and a wrong way, and that wasn’t right. I said, well, we didn’t do as much. She said, no, you don’t do things that way.
I’ve been hearing about it from the family. He, and she, managed to piss off the family that was there. I’m sure the ones who weren’t there heard about it.
It’s bothering other people a lot more than it bothers me, but if they want to show their asses, I’m going to enjoy the fallout.
I don’t know wth she was thinking with the dress she wore to the funeral. Her viewing outfit was nice, but she looked like a stuffed sausage in her funeral dress. It was too tight, too short, and more appropriate for clubbing than a funeral.
I guess I can be a catty bitch too.
I have so much to do today and my knee hurts so that I can hardly walk.
I have a lot to catch up on around here in the MMP. My concentration sucks right now.
I’m trying to get back to some kind of normalcy, and it’s not irking. Every day it is something new that needs to be fixed or handled.
It’s no wonder my stomach hurts all the time.
I need to do something with the shrimp that is thawing in the fridge, and water the plants. I wanted to finish up the laundry, but my son needs clothes for irk, so he gets priority.
I’d like to have a real washer and dryer and not have to deal with mini loads and a dryer that takes forever. It is better than communal washing though.
The yard is horribly overgrown, and it is pouring rain. It’s been raining a lot, so it’s hard to get anything done outdoors.
I think I would like sheep bells.
I would love to have sheep across the street.
I like wind chimes but I think the houses are too close together here for me to hang some.
I hope the pomegranate survives. You are lucky you can have the trees where you live.
That sounds horrible. I hope you stop leaking post-haste.
St. Mary’s is the main food sharing organization in Arizona. They send trucks to grocery stores and food courts to pick up close to its sell by date food and then go to all the food banks to fill their shelves. The food banks usually have income limits. Once the food banks are full, they split up the rest and bring it to the community centers where the community volunteers put it in boxes and hand them out to anyone who lives is a specific area, usually zip code. By this time, the goal is to not throw perfectly good food away, so anyone who shows up gets a box, no matter how much money they make.
When the volunteers have handed out as much food as they can, the rest goes to the Future Farmers of America parents who load it up for their kids to feed their pigs and cows.
If California doesn’t have such a program, it should. The only real cost is transporting the food around, everything else is done by volunteers.
Do you have room to store a portable set? They use regular current and hook up to your sink. I had a set once back in the day and it was so small I could only wash half a load at a time and tended to leak water on the floor if I wasn’t really careful hooking it up. The dryer also took forever.
I’m sure they have improved over the years, and honestly, even though they were a total PITA, they were still much better than using the community laundry.
Hehehe! I remember doing that so often. In retrospect, I feel so sorry for our priest who had to listen to all of our petty little sins.
Hubs bought a big ol’ fancy pants programable electric pot (AKA Brewzillo) to make his beer.
He made a really bad batch of mead, way too dry, so I wondered if we had a way to distill it and see if dry mead made an acceptable brandy.
As it turns out, he can buy an distilling attachment for his Brewzillo. Did I mention that the grain paddle has a bottle opener on the end because one traditionally drinks a bottle or two of the last batch of beer while cooking up his new one for luck.
Ya’ll got any idea where this is going? Of course someone tried to distill beer…it’s called whisky or bierschnapps. Distilled bierschnapps is an instant hangover, you don’t even have to go to sleep first. I got bored looking up things that men who have drank a few beers might think should be distilled, but yeah. If it’s booze, someone has tried it at least once.
Ablation done and successful Going home in an hour
Good news! Great way to end the day.
Maybe your spinal tap needs a new gasket. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I hope the leakage is resolved soon.)
I hope that your procedures went well bright one and wet one.
:shudders: doggio, really? Gatorade shandy?
I must have missed your moving plans sunny. Where are you moving?
{{{sari}}}
Irked, it stormed, but was down to a sprinkle by the time I got home. Thank goodness it’s Thursday eve.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
No, it just tastes… weird? I don’t know, I just don’t like the flavor. I’m ok with sweet, but this is just odd. I’ll drink them because I can’t throw them away - maybe I’ll try a little almond extract to make “cherry” flavor.
The kids have gone home - dunno if they made it before the skies opened, but we’re getting a good soaking now. Daughter hung around a bit to talk - she’s so psyched about this job! She’s officially in charge as of Moanday.
I’m tired and my brain is fried - off to the recliner…
Afternoon all. Did my swimmin’ and sauna and then stopped by Best Buy and bought a external USB port so I can use more stuff. Soccer was called off due to the rains this morning (it’s perfectly nice out there right now) so I’m trying to help out some folks doing stuff on-line to get ready for the season. Pretty quick I’ll be fixing myself a Big Bowl O’Sallit for dinner and moving on from there.
{{Sari}}, between family and dog park, you seem to be caught between two soap operas not of your choosing; I hope you can thread your way through–at least your nieces seem to have survived their upbringing and are pretty decent folks. Maybe one of them can get your ring back…
Sunny anytime someone uses “spinal” and “leaking” in the same sentence, I wince. Hope it stops leaking soonest.
JtC, interesting about the food distribution; never heard about anything like that here, but I guess it probably exists.
Seanette, Feline hide-n-seek, it seems…
{{Sunny}}, hang in there, somehow it’ll fall into place.
shoe, as a fellow lapsed Cat-Lick, I had to
at your confession…
wet one, glad things went well.
Cookie, been a long time since I had to share laundry machines, hopefully they are free and not coin-operated.
Bumba, can’t speak for anyone else, but the bidets I used had a strong enough stream that there wasn’t much left to dry off.
doggio, Gatorade for work, beer for home. That is the proper order of things…
Wow, lot of busy posts this afternoon. Everybody take care and I’m off to gnaw on plant matter. All y’all take care.
YAAAAAY!!!
I have my echocardiogram tomorrow. ‘Course, I can’t get in to see the cardiologist for another four weeks, but I’m guessing if they find anything troubling they’ll let me know before then.
I’ve had two episodes of elevated heart rate since my last doctor visit; they were both mild (under 120 bpm) and lasted only a couple hours.
Part of me hopes everything looks normal. Another part of me hopes they identify a problem that can be addressed and put an end to this.
Howdy Y’all! Provisionswere procurred, and the usual sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness were accomplished. Leftovers got et up as well. Been a rainy afternoon/evenin’ so far. On the plus side temps are cooler. Only 74 Amurrkin out as I post. BRRR!
sari that’s a lot of drama goin’ on in both family and at the dawg park. Glad your sis and bil are gettin’ somewhat of a comeuppance.
JtC I know of no food distribution like that. A couple of churches do the food box thing on a monthly basis, but I really don’t know anything about it all.
sunny hope the CSF leak gets figured out and that Beamette does OK at her new school.
Cookie had to use a laundromat a couple of times when our old dryer crapped out a few months back. Hated it.
wetone glad the ablation went well and that you are home again.
doggiore the gatorade shandy, just because you can do a thing, it does not mean you should do the thing. Please remember that.
The Episcopal Church does not require private confession, but it is one of the Sacraments. If one wishes to do so, one makes an appointment with a Priest. The idea is, all may, none must, some should.
And that is a shame. There is so much food waste in this country, and our landfills are dangerously full. This program has been going on in our county for over 12 years (which is when I first became aware of it) and not only helps regular folks, its fun to get a free mystery box.
Church food boxes have their place as well. I have seen real food boxes and they seem to be filled with stuff to make regular meals, things families need including cookies and breakfast cereal. The surplus boxes are so random that it always surprises me when we get things that all go together.
Mostly I came here to brag about getting more rain. Tis wonderful. @Aspenglow bright tree, you might want to check in with your folks. I’m sure they are just fine, but they will enjoy telling you about the big storms blowing through. There has been much noise and lights even if they didn’t get rain.
Our little town was on the news and they even had it on their map AND the name was speeled right! The Big Bug creek was flooding and nobody should cross moving water lest they be like the idiot who moved the barricades and got himself and his trailer washed away. He survived, but due to the Stupid Motorist laws, he’s going to be responsible for the costs of rescuing his dumbass, the clean up and a fine.
Up from naptime. Had a decent thunderstorm come through around 4:30. I’m having a Boulevardier. Making some honey teriyaki stir fry for dinner tonight
the basement?
< D&R >
Well they have ice and water machine, pallets of water, Gaterade pops, and fans. I just work in the worst station in the hub(apart from the poor S.O.B.s who have to unload 53 footers during day sort).
You do. I was just inviting the new folk. I get a recruitment bonus.
But : crosses fingers on the CSF :
This. Also:
Jedi: “May The Force Be With You.”
Me: “And also with you.”
Oh come on, What would the world be like if Victor Frankenstein and Herbert West had listened to people, and hadn’t tampered in God’s domain?
Funny, mine always started crying, and chugging Communion wine when I started my confession.
Yay!
Tee hee.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
My naptime dream was being stuck in Japan, in a zombie apocalypse. Except there were no zombies, just a boatload of people wandering into to my hiding place.
Rational dream brain: “This is awfully people-ly for a post apocalypse.”
Irrational dream brain: “I can import the pet Allosaurus from Dream 187342.1, that’ll fix the freakin’ problem!”
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 27c/80f with a predicted high of 30c/86f and just plain sunny. Weather app says “It’s fucking uncomfortably warm outside” and I have to agree.
Cats have been fed, medicated and scooped up for the cattery, safely deposited and all their medication requirements have been explained. Car’s got a full tank of fuel, we have bought breakfast provisions for the next couple of days.
Just need 'im indoors to have a bath, both of us to have some food and then load up the car before we can get on our way.
Watch out, Chepstow, here we come!
