Two new episodes again last night. Sorry if there is already a thread.
Stop Loss was about Victor’s reintroduction into society (sort of).
The Attic was about what happens to the dolls when they go bad.
Both premises were a bit out there, but I especially enjoyed the second one. The last six episodes have all been a solid compendium, imo.
Two more great episodes. Dollhouse has really been good lately.
I thought the whole business with the crazy dream assassin was going to be cliched and stupid, but I thought the way it ended up was really interesting.
And my theory: Topher is Clyde 2.0. He’s a genius, but seems to have absolutely no initiative, and (as far as we know) no life outside the house.
MaxTheVool That’s an interesting theory. When he said there is no guarantee of gender I thought of Bennett, though Bennett has memories of having been Caroline’s friend. Maybe Bennett already worked for Rossum and was Caroline’s insider. Who knows?
Was this the finale, or is there more to go? I ask because I’m kinda waiting to hear if it’s worth watching. I knew going in to Firefly I wouldn’t get to see the end, but it was worth it anyway. Is the same true of Dollhouse?
There are 3 more episodes to go. IMO the 1st season of Dollhouse is quite lame. It’s a boring ‘doll of the week’ format where the actual plot is slow going. However this season is very good with the last few episodes approaching “awesomeness” level. Rare case where Fox canceling the show made it better. lol
I think Dr Love is pointing out that Topher, Dewitt and Boyd were shown not to be dolls in Echoes. Bennet was checked by Topher and found to be not a doll in The Public Eye.
No, we know they’re not because of how they’ve been unaffected by doll-specific tech like Topher’s disruptor and the infection from the first season.
And I’m liking the breakneck pace of the end but with the constantly upping stakes the “seams” of the show are starting to become obvious. It’s very clear that a lot of this was not planned from the beginning of the show or even the beginning of season two.
In the beginning, we were given dolls with code names based on the military alphabet, meaning there should only be 25 of them (obviously Alpha was retired after the incident). But in the Alpha episode last week, there are at least 100 dolls in the LA Dollhouse with 21 others all over the world. That is a much larger operation than we were led to believe existed.
Beyond that, Topher’s role in the Dollhouse almost seemed like the creator of the tech and that the whole thing was very new and untested. Now we know Topher’s just a small cog (although admittedly, he does the upgrades to the tech for the end of the world to happen) and that the Dollhouse process was invented when he was in grade school.
A shame really, because Buffy and Firefly were so tightly plotted for the most part.
Clyde 2.0 would have been the very first doll, and could be different. And let’s not forget the evil partner guy. Could be anyone.
There were indications back when Ballard was trying to find the Dollhouse last season. The DC dollhouse used god names instead of the phonetic alphabet. For some reason, I found it a bit creepy.
Does anyone think Boyd’s problems at home have to do with Whiskey? The doll, not the drink.
I didn’t find it creepy, in some ways having a doll named Aphrodite seemed like truth-in-advertising.
Yes, I do think it’s likely Whiskey is staying with Boyd. In his house or in his bed is an interesting question.
Whiskey? How much do we really know about the “Dr. Saunders” that was stuck in her head? Given some of her interaction with Echo(“I’m not your friend in here.”) could the same thing that happened to Echo have happened to her?
To continue the cover of her operation - she wouldnt have been able to justify just atticing Echo after what the other two had done/witnessed/were doing as well.
I dont think the rest of Rossum is fully aware of Echo’s talents yet.
“What year is it?”
“2010 . . . I think - I’m not sure how long we’ve been off air.”
Yeah, I will definitely be rewatching the whole series just to watch the evolution of Adele. It’s pretty clear they had this arc in mind for her, but meant it to develop over a much longer time. So she seems a little bipolar. But they handled it as well as they could, with her drinking herself into a stupor over the guilt of giving in to Rossum, then pulling herself back together and putting on the “Cruella DeWitt” persona to effect a rebellion.
I’m thinking maybe Ivy for Clyde 2.0, since she’s one of the only characters we know who hasn’t been proven human. Or as stated above, the first doll might work differently from the others, so all people are on the table again.
What did they take from Paul? WHAT?! (At least I know I don’t have to wait long to find out!)
