I just watched all of Season 1 and ended with this. Wow!
An incredible episode that reminds me of the best parts of the Terminator storyline. I guess I’m a sucker for good apocalypse stories, and to have it come out as such a natural outgrowth of the foreboding (but still pretty much functional) setting of Season 1 Dollhouse is just awesome.
What I think would be cool is if they used this ep as a lead-in to Season 3, and we actually have a true apocalyptic series. That would take balls to go from the current “Gee whiz this week I’m a dominatrix/negotiator/housewife” type of story with sinister Alpha/Rossum currents to a full-blown dystopian nightmare, but damn, that would be amazing. I think Joss does have the cajones to do it, but I don’t know if that’s where he wants to take the show. Let’s have the heroes FAIL to save the world for once, but then find a way to reclaim it in the ruins.
If they don’t go this route, I really hope Epitaph One was just a possible future, because otherwise, its presence really deflates the narrative.
Now time to watch the first few eps of Season 2…
