Saturday morning, and I’m… headed off to work! I’m now working for three departments, so I can grab some overtime if it is available. Since I spent the week having procedures and doing Physical Therapy, I’m short on hours.
Breakfast will be… Cheerios? I’m thrilling, that way.
For the record, peeling eggs is a pain!! It took half an hour to do 2 dozen!! eeeesh. But the deviled egg components are ready. And I’m showered. So all I need to do is get dressed and we’ll be on our way north. In 3 hours or so.
Oh yeah, and **FCD **figured out where the funky smell was coming from. I’d taken his bathing suit from where it had been hiding in the dining room for a couple of months. Apparently Taz had peed on it, and I didn’t notice till it was in an enclosed place - our bedroom with the door closed… Anyway, it’ll be laundered tomorrow (it’s out in the yard right now) and the stink is gone. Yay. I know you were worried about that.
FCM, your deviled eggs wouldn’t make it out of the house if my kids were around. They love deviled eggs.
I don’t know what today’s plans are. Hopefully, just chilling.
Dang, just found a friend of mine is in the ER. Her eyes are swollen shut, and they’re thinking it’s a reaction to her antibiotics. She had an infection from a splinter and now it’s turned to this.
Hopefully, she’ll be fine. A couple of other friends are on their way there, so there’s no need for me to rush down there.
I need to tidy the house. My do-nothing day has been aborted. I need to tidy the house because the group is descending on our house to firm up our car rental plans for Hawaii and to just generally hang out and socialize.
So… I’ve been away for a while. But you already knew that. So I’ll just bullet point it:
I expanded my iPhone review blog.
I got involved in writing the music for two different iPhone apps – one game, and one my own edition of a mental relaxation/entrainment app. I don’t know if it’s against the rules to name them so I’ll just play it safe and not do that. It’s been fun though; the game music was strictly volunteer, but I’m splitting profits down the middle for the entrainment app and so far have made a few hundred in pocket change, which has been nice.
I got involved in setting up a blog and message forum for another developer of a fairly high profile series of games.
I decided to get into iPhone development myself. I bought a Macbook Pro.
I determined that there was no way I was going to have the time to write iPhone apps while running my blog, so I posted a goodbye note and stopped writing on the blog. That was tough as hell to do but it had to be done.
I took my vacation from work last Thursday – coincidentally the very same day I came down with an extremely bad cold. I still took the train with the wife up to Smiths Falls, ON, about an hour outside of Ottawa. Being that I was sick the whole trip it wasn’t too enjoyable but it was cool to get away just the same. We came back on Monday and I went back to work for one day yesterday.
Currently, the cold I think is beginning to recede, which is a good thing.
So I know I missed some big events around the board, not many of them good, but did I miss anything in the mumper kingdom?
Mork! There you are! There’ve been up and downs among the Mumpers, but we’ve all been there to lend a cyber shoulder to each other.
Life is busy, as always, seems I’m always running to and fro. Work has been a big stressball due to a regional reorg and the region taking away fifty percent of our shop, which left me and another co-worker to deal with the workload that we already had, plus many new requirements due to new access to care regulations. It’s been nuts!
Life outside of work has been crazy too, just running a hundred miles an hour all the time, but it’s all good. At least we have fun doing it.
I spent the summer traveling (France, Germany, Mexico, Chicago), it seemed like. Got to see my best friend twice and also got to see most of my family at my cousin’s wedding. Yay!
I imagine others will trickle in with their news…
I’ve been cleaning out my GMail account today because I want to use it offline and it’s filled with junk. It’ll take me a while to get rid of stuff, but I think it will help me manage my e-mail better…
Now I need to get out into the garden for a while. Go figure.
Back later.
ETA: He’s lucky you let him live, Taters. Cookie stealing is…well…not good.
No jury would convict you if you, well, you know. Justifiable homicide, I believe.
My head hurts <whine>. I made cookies and forgot not only the baking soda, but the salt as well, just after I said to myself, “don’t forget the b soda and salt.”
Clearly, I need a brain transplant. The cookies taste weird (more of a texture thing than taste), but they were still good.
Off to take a nap. We lost the soccer game, 4-0. Ouch. It was cold and damp out there, which my sinuses didn’t like one bit. Have a good Saturday night, all.
I made QD a birthday cake, iced it, took Nat to the park- and I come back and it’s split itself down the middle. Weird. I’ll just pour the extra icing in the crack.
News. News. Hmm. Oh, I’m having another kid. That’s the only exciting thing that’s happened recently.
He said to tell you that he was taking what was rightfully his. The problem is, that he wasn’t. It was mine! All mine! And he stole it!
That’s okay. He sleeps hard. He might wake up all prettified tomorrow…you never know. A little mascara and eyeshadow never hurt a guy…insert evil smiley here.
I say Mr Taters deserves to suffer from painful, nasty papercuts for the next six months! That’s my standard curse to put on people.
Howdy Y’all! I came home after work, took a little snooze, then got stuff ready for the red beans and rice for tomorrow. It’s now doin’ it’s thing in the slow cooker. I also made the green sallit. I was goin’ to make LiLi’s easy cake but instead, I’ve been informed we’re havin’ ice cream cake. YAY! I mean, it’s cake, it’s ice cream, what’s not to like?
Look! A MinDude sighting! I, too, deal with iPhones these days. ‘Cept I mostly want to throw ‘em in a big fire, dance around it and laugh maniacally as I destroy ‘em. In addition, we’re havin’ a problem with iPhone fraud. Well, ATT is havin’ a problem, I couldn’t care less, ‘cept for the workin’ behind the scenes to discover what place or places it’s all comin’ from. The big suspicion is it’s all occurin’ in and around NYC and LA mostly. It should get interestin’ in the next few weeks.
Happy Birthday QD!
MOOOOOOM deviled aigs are one of my favorite food substances. I make some dang good ones, if’n I do say so myself.
I am awaitin’ the arrival of dindin. OYKW has gone to pick up a Papa John’s pizza. They won’t deliver out to da cave. The noive!
Swampy, I read your post to Mr. Taters. He laughed and said, “How rude”! I told him my Mumpers have my back and it’s not a good idea to mess with me.
The dishes are done. I need to run the vaccuum because the carpet is looking kind of dark due to massive shedding my dog is doing.
I received a text awhile ago regarding my friend who had to go to the ER this morning. She’s back home, but covered in hives now too. It turns out she’s allergic to sulfa (sulfur?), which of course is what was present in her antibiotics.
Poor thing. Hopefully, it clears up soon! She’s one of the people going to Hawaii with us and we leave in 14 days.
Shhh! Don’t tell Mr. Taters, but I’m thinking of sneaking out to the kitchen to snag another brownie. I’m going to be smart this time and eat it out there! Since he stole mine, I don’t feel inclined to be nice and bring him one.
Better yet, Taters hide all the brownies where he can’t find 'em. Let him go into brownie withdrawal while you laugh at his piteous pleading for a brownie! That’ll learn him!
Pizza is et. ‘Twas good. Red beans and rice are smellin’ yummerific! It’s coolish, fallish weather here so it will be so good tomorrow. Oh and I made up a batch of Bloody Mary’s for pre, during and post luncheon cocktails. Maybe it will be a long while before I get all crazy and do this again. Or maybe not. Matter of fact I know maybe not cause in about four weeks a bunch of folks are comin’ over on Saturday evenin’ for bbq. That is truly insane bein’ as I work on Saturday.
