Don Juanna Is Here. It Must Be The MMP

Boooooooooooooooooooooored.

grumble

I’m half-tempted to just go home for the rest of the day. Boss Guy isn’t here (he’s working from the other office today), so odds are that no one would notice anyways. Hmph.

Love those Noro scarves, BTW… I love those whimsical stripes, and I usually drool all over the Noro whenever I pop into the yarn store. Darn you taxi, for introducing me to yet another expensive knitted item I will covet.

I don’t have the energy for Zombieland right now. Hell, Winnie the Pooh would be a stretch. I do sense the need to get OUT for a bit this weekend.

I did end up watching Anthony Bourdain in Iceland on the Travel Channel for a bit. I recognized some of the places I visited–including the hot dog stand downtown! I also made chocolate chip muffins. Kettle is on and then I read, snuggled in an afghan.

Dinner is pork chops. And something.

Go for it Muppet! You’ll love knitting them.

How about something fall-themed on the weekend, rigs? It’s the perfect time for apple picking, pumpkin carving, or a corn maze. I love the fall activities.

Someone’s messing with the HVAC at work. It was hot this morning with warm air blowing on us from the vents. Now it’s cold, and there’s cold air blowing from the vents. C’mon people. Stop playing with the controls!

Howdy Y’all! Two down and three to go!

Funny you should mention poke chops rigs. I took some out of the freezer last night and am going to broil them for dindin and figure out sump’n to go with 'em. It’s like we’re twins! Mayhaps green beans and rice is what I’ll do.

Guess I should go figure that out. It’ll take what little energy I have just to do so. Poor me.

Well, where is everybody?

When I put my mind to it, I can do a good dindin. I broiled the poke chops in the convection oven, baked a couple of sweet N.O.T. in the regular oven, steamed some green beans and baked up some frozen biscuits. Not too shabby if’n I do say so myself.

That is all.

Pork chops in oven, with my oven baked French fries (home made, with tons of garlic salt on them). Slice up some russet potatoes width-wise, thin, brush with olive oil, go nuts with garlic salt (and Parmesan cheese, if wanted) and bake at 400 for a bit–about 30 minutes. Heaven. We’ll probably have salad in a bag. I’m lazy like that.
Good news:

I entered that sweet oblivion that is deep, deep sleep for my nap and there I dwelt until summoned by the harsh reality of TH’s voice.

Bad news:
Annoying Coworker was on the phone. Her husband was in a car accident (he’s ok, but bruised and shaken up, car badly damaged) and can I work her shift tomorrow: 0530. Of course (how could anyone say no?)
Quasi good news, but I would still like to whine about it:

Boss says ixnay on coming in at 0530 (yay!), but come in at 0700 (ok! Start time was originally 0800 anyway)… but I’m on call tomorrow afternoon and there are 4 cardiac caths, which means I have to stay until they are discharged–usually around 8pm.
Swampy–what’s all this “if I put my mind to it” stuff? You make good dinners all the time! Me, sometimes my dinner is pretzels or whatever (last night it was caramel corn–don’t ask). I always wanted to be one of those 1950s moms who makes a hot meal every night, nutritionally balanced and appealing etc, but that didn’t happen.

Um, I had something to say and then I had to run to the store again and so I’ve forgotten my illustrious, important comment. :stuck_out_tongue:

taxi, I’d never knitted in rounds before, but it’s pretty easy. I’m not all that crazy about doing the double-point needles, but I’ve figured out. Still, I’m tired of making the same things over and over - I’m pretty sure I’ve made over 2 dozen so far.

We’re home from the dump, Lowe’s, and supper. We bought a shower surround, the luaun, and sheetrock. After the Daily Show and Colbert, I’m going to shower, then assume the knit position. I almost fell asleep earlier when I was knitting - I guess I’m more tired than I thought.

swampy, I would happily eat at your house pretty much every day. Which reminds me that I don’t actually have anything to take to work for lunch tomorrow. Guess I need to dream something up.

Wow, FCM, you’re sure getting lots done there! I can hardly wait to see the after pics.

I like circular needles better than double-pointed ones, but you get used to DPNs if you just keep working with them. I love all of that yarn, but haven’t bought it because I figure I really need to know what I want to knit with it to justify the money. And I don’t want to think that hard right now.

Guess I should go inspect the kitchen…

Three down, two to go!

Okay, a bit of good news here. Firstly, please try not to get upset at me, because in the end I did make things right. But okay, I’ve finally paid off my student loans from college … from 35 years ago. It’s taken a long time because I could only pay em off a bit at a time, but the last payment was made a couple of weeks ago. I contacted the University yesterday … I think they even knew who I was. At any rate, collections released my transcript and I should be able to get it in a few days! I can’t even recall what classes I took, let alone what my grade were. I’d also like to try to get my diploma, although I’m unsure if it will be possible; I think the requirements may have changed, and I know that at least two of the requirements were for seminar-level classes (one a grad-level seminar). I’m keeping a positive attitude though.

In other news, I’ve started crocheting again, and am working on afghans as Christmas presents. Wheee!

So I got a call tonight from a guy calling on behalf of a duct cleaning company. When I politely informed the guy that we’re on the Do Not Call List, he responds with “Oh, well in that case you get an extra $50 off!”

Do Not Call List doesn’t mean “Do Not Call Me Unless You Have a Special Deal List”. It means Do Not Call Me. AT ALL. Ever. Just don’t.

Grrrrrr.

Congrats on finally settling that debt, tarra! Better late than never, right?

I’m gonna go hop into bed and snuggle with The Boy. He’s having a really rough month at work, the poor guy, and I’m doing my best to make it as easy for him as possible here at home… still, there’s only so much I can fix just by rubbing his feet and fetching him beer and taking care of all the housework. :frowning: I just wish I could make the rest of it better, too.

Swampy, I’d eat at your house too. It’d be nice to have someone cook for me on a regular basis.

Congrats on paying off your loan, tarra.

I had leftover pho for dinner and Mr. Taters had leftover Death Chicken. Both of the kids had to work this evening, so they’re on their own when they get home from work. They generally don’t eat what I’ve prepared for dinner (after working) anyway.

Work was meh, the commute home was bad, hell the commute to work was bad. I swear, we live in a state known for it’s moist weather, but it seems everyone forgets how to drive in it.

The good news is that there are only two more work days to go.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

Thanks for all the cookin’ compliments. It’s either cook or eat out/order in and I’m too cheap to do that too much.

Ok, that’s all I got for now. Time to feed rumbly tummy followed by work purtification.

Happy Thursday!

It’s early and I’m hungry!

Did you get it from the Pho King?

Up to purtify. I’ma gonna get my pig flu shot after [del]thumb twiddling[/del]work. High excitement for me today.

I Am Up Too Early.

I missed a class because it wasn’t scheduled but apparently the teacher decided to schedule it yesterday.

This course is making me hate email. We need to check uni email at least thrice a day, check the bulletin board, and 90% of the emails we get are not relevant for whichever courses we’re really taking! It’s as bad as corporate emails, man…

Nava, I hate email but from the other side! I have to email students and get them to do things, but they never read what’s there and do something completely different which doesn’t help me (or them) at all. I said to someone in the Med School that I was going to put “free drinks” in the subject line of all my emails so they’d at least get looked at.

Other than that, it’s a blurf day today. I’m off out for dinner and drinks with a couple of friends after work so that will end up being a work-related bitching session from at least one of them who hates her boss and her job and the whole world!

Up. Dressed. Hygienic. Off to work. Blech.

Up, caffeinated (partial), at work. Blarg! At least tomorrow is Firday. Say, wonder how Moonie is doing? Where’s he been at?

I was so excited yesterday about seeing my transcript. laughs I don’t know what I think I’m going to do with it though. Yes, I’d like to get my degree, but don’t know if it’s actually doable. We’ll see.

Hugs to those who need and want them - enjoy your Thursday.
