Donald Trump is going to win in 2020, are you happy about it?

I’m fascinated by voters causing actual change. 20 years ago it felt like nothing was changing and nothing ever would change. Now we have legalized weed and a non-politician as president. It’s not all positive change but it is real change.

But ------ being the Lucifer’s Barrister that I am ------ most of the change has come from the State and local levels from SSM to weed. If anything DC seems about 4-10 years behind. :smack:

Which speaks to the one thing I really like about Trump: he’s not a strong leader. So he’s not mentally present enough to crack the Federal Whip on the states to enforce the corrupt and outdated shit that dribbles out of Congress. In his way, he is showing us what it’s like to not have a Federal Government. And it’s kind of nice if you don’t already live in a shithole state.

The Democrat Party is too far to the right. Many are jumping on the Bernie bandwagon. But if he isn’t cheated again, I’ll definitely vote for him. If he isn’t the nominee, I’ll sit home like in 2016. I would probably want Trump to win to teach these assholes a lesson.

That is a really shitty attitude, Trump is a lot more damaging than lets say Biden. Hell Biden is mostly Harmless. The DNC & big doners didn’t learn in 2016, so please don’t punish the rest of us. Vote for any Dem to help get Trump out of office and to help stop the shift to the far right of our federal courts.

That is a really shitty response. I guess you have no clue about Joe’s record. If you keep voting for the evil of two lessers, evil is all you’ll get in the end.

Trump vs. Biden is not lesser of two evil. It is seriously dangerous to the country vs. mostly harmless.

Yes, as someone who is pro-life and also voted for Trump, I agree that this is an issue that many of us are passionate about to be a single issue voter on. Many of the people who are most passionately against abortion are women, by the way. Democrats who think that women will vote for a female candidate just because she’s a woman are making a grave error, because they are instantly alienating a large chunk of women if that candidate is in favor of abortion.
Yes, we actually do mean it when we say that we believe that babies are being violently killed by abortion. Nothing that a pro-choice Democrat ever says will EVER make that okay. Nothing a Dem can do will EVER make pro-lifers just let it go.

I’m for Bernie but your attitude is terrible and wrong, and shows that you really don’t seem to have compassion for all the people Trump’s policies are harming so much. What it shows you have is contempt, which is not a good look. Trump is far, far worse than the Democratic Party (which is far from perfect). There is no party called the “Democrat Party”, by the way.

This is where I am as well. I’m pro women’s rights and pro birth control but I can’t agree with sexual rights overriding the right to live.

Non-merkin. Four more years please, and no I’m not happy about it.
But this is short term pain we all need to wear to avoid long term debility.

When this rooster leaves the White House the 25.7% of all eligible US voters who put him there needs to be need to be thinking, “Shithey, we’ve just dodged a bullet of our own making, let’s not try self-immolation again.”

Because, odd moments of colour and theatre not withstanding he’s been remarkably ineffective.
All the poisons that lurk in the mud have yet to hatch out.

He needs to be turfed out or end his second term indelibly besplattered and reaking of something his base viscerally understand … corruption, financial scandal, gross moral turpitude. If POTUS XLV gets kicked out because of some chicanery in an obscure country the base don’t know, don’t care, indeed despise, that’s just Merica expressing it’s innate hegemony, chew on our grits, Bud. But give him time enough and sure as eggs, he’ll foul his own nest. In a containable manner

But if the librulls conspire a premature demise of Trump, their lightening rod of dissent, then the malcontents who flock to this white male supremacist banner will look for another messiah and the next reincarnation of this anti-intellectual, isolationist, intolerant, jingoistic, fundamentalist demagogue cannot be as benign.

Then we are all in deep doo doos.

I am not surprised you would think that if the main way you are hearing about Trump is from Canadian media or places like this, but how many people who support Trump do you actually know?
As an American who voted for Trump before and will again, a lot of the people I know who voted for Trump are actually more committed to him now. Some of us have been pleasantly surprised by how much of the stuff he said he was going to do he has actually done or attempted to do (I think it is impressive how much he has gotten as much done on immigration issues as he has in spite of the relentless opposition). The Kavanaugh hearing, the Mueller report, and now the impeachment circus have angered a lot of people who saw these incidents as Dems being bullies or trying to abuse their power. The way that Dems have treated individual people who disagree with them has also not helped their causes. Yelling at people about how they are a Nazi bigot if they support Trump is not going to charm them or win them over…and yet Dems just can’t help themselves.

Yeah – I read the posts after this. But I basically agree. Maybe Bloomberg. But I’m from Biden country and part of the reason we sent him to DC and kept him in DC was pretty much to keep him out of the Valley. His politics are pretty much the same as Clinton’s and its time for the DNC to realize there are more ways to win than that.

That’s not so much a problem as a symptom of something bigger. Another symptom is folks who say abortion at any stage of pregnancy is a murder.

(semi coherent rant spoilered out of mercy)
Both views are sometimes right, and usually not, but the problem (as I see it) is people thinking their own priority needs to be held by the other 330 million of their countrymen and they’re willing to write off half the population if that’s what it takes to get agreement. It’s lazy thinking, it unfairly stigmatizes people with different views on a given topic, and it fosters the idea that this is a country of cloud-headed liberal elites Democrats vs. hateful, patriarchal Republicans (and a smallish gaggle of self-aggrandizing bystanders who prefer to call themselves Independents as though Rs & Ds are somehow beholden to and invested in the entirety of their party’s platform. It’s a fast trap, and the best from both ‘sides’ are prone to stepping in it.

From what I can tell, Trump is a loathsome person, an untrustworthy business partner and ally, and lacks the temperament and intellectual sophistication for national leadership. BUT, the other Republicans running against him were basically polished turds from the same anus–so in that way, at least, he’s more honest. When he pisses down your back he calls it piss, not rain. The Democratic candidates have their shortcomings as well and I could see how, if one of the tiles on their personal mosaics was absolutely offensive, one might be disinclined to acknowledge their other strengths. Bill Cosby made rooms full of people laugh for over half a century, but he’s also a serial rapist so guess what most people are focusing on. Same kind of thing.

The USA would be a much more positive thing if its citizens saw each other as equals with some minor variations, but honestly I think the leaders of both parties want that squabbling to continue because they never do anything to stop it.
More than that - they actively foster the division because persons who are incensed at an enemy force are more likely to vote. It’s hard fact that the republicans and their media outlets are riling up the masses intentionally, and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the democrats dip their toes in this pool too.

Panache45: Precisely. THANK you!

So, you’re willing to sell your birthright for a mess of pottage and you’re not even starving.

Got it.

And I want him to die a slow, painful death from various cancers.

IMHO, the bigger thing we should be focusing on is that he’s moron that doesn’t care about anyone but himself.

Sure he’s a crook. Sure he’s a racist. Sure he’s a misogynist.

But he’s a moron that refuses to learn. Well, he can’t. It’s his nature. Because he already knows everything about everything.

And he has been given the keys to the kingdom.

He’s not the problem, though. The problem is he seems like a pretty neat idea by close to half the country. You don’t put out a fire by spraying water on the flames, you put it out by spraying water where the flames start…at the base.
