I’m surprised he didn’t finish it off with “Rosie is a fat poopyhead with ugly fat-faced cooties!” as an extra childish flourish. That was just…real bad. Comedically bad.
For a minute though I thought he was threatening to do something mafia-like to Rosie’s girlfriend. And you know what? I would have been more impressed if he had actually said something like that, as opposed to the whole thing about sending a friend over there to steal her away. Because at least a mafia hit has got some macho meat on it. But alas, Trump had to transform himself into a 12 year-old bitch who thinks the worse thing you can say about an opponent is that they are fat and ugly.
Did it really take Rosie O’Donnell to publicly humiliate Donald Trump for him to realize that everyone secretly laughs at him behind his back?
They guy is so full of himself and is surrounded by people that kiss his ass for some reason that maybe he doesn’t really realize how much of a doofus he really is.
“Rosie is disgusting, both inside and out. You take a look at her, she’s a slob, she talks like a truck driver.[snip] Rosie attacked me personally because I was very happy when her talk show failed. The other thing that failed, and this was a real monster, and everyone was suing her, was her magazine, her magazine called ‘Rosie’ was a total disaster. So I loved it, I gloat over it. I think it’s wonderful because I like to see bad people fail. Rosie failed… I’m happy about it. [snip] She’s basically a disaster. When she called me a snake-oil salesman, you know coming from Rosie, that is pretty low because when you look at her, and when you see the mind, the mind is weak. I don’t see it. I don’t get it, I never understood, how does she even get on television. [snip] I believe Babara made a terrible mistake putting her on, and I think Babara is probably paying a big price. [snip] If I were running ‘The View’ I’d fired Rosie, I mean, I would look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers and say, Rosie, you’re fired. [snip] We’re all a little chubby, but Rosie is just worse than most of us. But, it’s not the chubbiness, Rosie is a very unattractive person, both inside and out. Rosie is a person that is very lucky to have her girlfriend…and she better be careful, or I’ll send one of my friend’s over to pick up her girlfriend- why would she stay with Rosie if she had another choice.[snip] She’s trying to use ‘The View’ and ABC to try to get even with me, but with me, we fight back. I’ll probably sue Rosie because she doesn’t tell the facts. As an example, I’m worth many billions of dollars. Now, she said I was bankrupt. I never went bankrupt. So, probably I’ll sue her because it would be fun. I’d like to take some money out of her fat ass pockets. [snip] I actually think they ought to look at her whole life and see where she is coming from, because I think she’s got some very deep seeded problems. Perhaps, it should be Rosie that goes to rehab. (rim shot!) [snip] Rosie is a loser.”
Well, he also said she had a weak mind; that she was a loser; that her t.v. show and magazine both tanked (he must have forgotten about her Broadway play starring Boy George which also tanked); and that Barbara Walters would likely rue the day she brought O’Donnell onto the show because people don’t like her for long and The View’s ratings were sure to tank as a result of O’Donnell’s presence.
Again, I don’t see how any of this is any worse than way she made fun of his looks and manner and alleged use of bankruptcy to cheat people out of their money. Pretty much tit for tat, I’d say.
I guess what DT said was in bad taste, but I have to admit I agree with more of it than with what Rosie said. She launched a misdirected, unprovoked attack on him because somehow in her addled mind, she thinks Trump threatened to boot Miss USA because her morals weren’t as high as his. But she misses the point- the girl has an image to uphold in light of the position she has attained, and DT’s morals or lack thereof are irrelevant. He had a decision to make based on whether the girl is fulfilling the obligations of her “title”, however meaningless some may perceive it. In the end, he let her hold on to her title. So Rosie, shut your pie hole.
He talks about everyone. I can’t find the remarks he made about Martha Stewart.
This is what he said about Angelina Jole (regarding her father) on Larry King.
"I mean this poor sap, he comes along and he practically begs her, ‘I want to see my grandson (Maddox). I want to see this.’ I mean, if I were with him, I’d say, ‘Forget it. It’s over.’
"She just treats him terribly. She’s been with so many guys she makes me look like a baby… And I just don’t even find her attractive. That has nothing to do with why I said it, though.
“I’m not a fan of hers as you probably noticed.”
His jokes about dating his daughter were beyond creepy.
Which sounds like something a kid would say. Not to say that Rosie came off looking like Miss Maturity, but it’s clear she was going for laughs with her ribbing. Donald was just trying to hurt feelings. And he ended up looking like a flabby-armed brat in the process.
I’d expect a lot better comeback from a hot shot billionaire, is all I’m saying. He should hire a speechwriter in the future. Preferably someone from the ghetto, who knows how to fight with words and be funny about it.
You’re aware, of course, that he was responding after she’d publically criticized him and The Apprentice aren’t you?
Apart from his comment about her attractiveness - which is after all what she’s famous for - I don’t see much here to quibble with. Usually when Trump goes off on someone it’s in retaliation for something they’ve said or done in regard to him. I don’t know if she made negative comments about him at some point or whether she stiffed him on a hotel room, but I’ve long she has been a total ass regarding her father.
Oh, please. He was saying, in effect, ‘Hey, I have pretty high standards, you know, when it comes to the women I date, and my daughter - if she weren’t my daughter, that is - would meet those standards.’ He was complimenting her looks and intelligence, not lusting after her. Is this really so hard to understand?
Trump in no way seems like a childish person to me, so I don’t really think of his comments as being childish, although I can readily see how they would appear that way to someone else. I do think you’re right in that he was trying to hurt her feelings. Trump is a guy who, as a matter of policy (and he said this in The Art of the Deal) sets about to make people pay if they wrong him. The reason for this is twofold: one, to punish them for it so they won’t be so likely to try it again; and secondly, to serve as an example to others as to what they can expect if they wrong him. He was going after O’Donnell in the way that it would have the most effect. She is an obnoxious, hateful person who has no qualms whatsoever about trashing, criticizing (or outing) people whenever the thought to do so pops into her unthinking, biased, inconsiderate and self-absorbed mind, and IMO, Trump was simply giving her a heavy dose of her own medicine. Additionally, she has the bully pulpit of The View to go after him all she wants, whereas he has only this opportunity to try make his own thoughts known and to try to influence the way people regard her, so he’s breaking out the big guns in an effort to reach as many people as possible while he still can.
I think pool was interpreting the asterisks as some sort of exotic form of emphasis that was maybe more emphatic than would be the case had you simply used italics.
At least, that’s what seems reasonable to me. I’d hate to think that [s]he thought you were referring to some cryptic footnote that only you and your friends were privy to.
And that doesn’t seem childish to you? Hmm. Well at least you acknowledge how it could seem so to others. What’s your threshold for behavior to become childish if it’s not “trying to hurt feelings” and making people “pay”? Must one shit himself and scream at the top of his lungs to breach it?
For what it’s worth, at least a couple of Trump’s casinos have filed bankruptcies. From what I’ve read, the filings were actually very shrewd business decisions. Anyone who wants to accuse a debtor of some character flaw for legally stiffing his creditors needs to do two things: 1) learn the phrase “it’s just business,” and 2) take it up with Congress.
And ** Starving Artist **, the entities that a business or an individual owes money to are called creditors, not debtors. The person who or business that owes the money is the debtor.
As for the upholding the moral standards of the “title,” let me just say ::vomit:: Please, anyone who sees this as anything other than a publicity stunt is a shade on the naive side.
I’ve always thought Trump was a joke along the lines of Shatner*, or Hasslehoff. Rich as hell, but a joke nonetheless.
*At least Shatner seems to be somewhat self-aware.
This all sounds like a tempest in a (small) cesspool, to me, but does anyone have an unbiased citation for how many times Trump has or has not filed bankruptcy and, if he did, was it chapter 7, 11, or 13?
