Donald Trump is the biggest asshole ever. (Rosie v. The Donald)

Wow, two people who’s main talent is self-promotion are mad at each other? Why does this seem made up to me?

Not unbiased but I’m sure that someone can check up on the facts a bit:

Well, no…it seems to me like a calculated response intended to have a certain punitive and self-defensatory ( ) effect, and secondarily to drum up publicity, as you allude to below, because as we all know there is no such thing as bad publicity.

IIRC, Trump was forced to give up much of his control and the financial stake he had in his casinos as part of the restructuring of his business following the slump he suffered in the early nineties. Again, IIRC, by the time these casinos filed for bankruptcy, Trump’s financial stake in them was miniscule and his control over them was virtually nil.

I knew that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Clearly, I misspoke. I stand corrected.

I thought you were of the opinion that it was a childish temper tantrum. So which was it? A childish display of temper or a publicity stunt designed to put her in her place, defend his financial record, alert others what to expect if they fuck with him (a sound and practical approach, btw, lest one is fond of being endlessly bullied), and to drum up publicity for his t.v. show and hotel/resort/office businesses?

Yeah, he’s a joke, alright! There is no one on this board…nor, most likely, do you know anyone of your own personal acquaintace…who could come anywhere near accomplishing what Trump has. How he manages to spot the opportunities he does, capitalize on them (permits, politics, contractors, financials, etc.), and manage them after the fact - all the while adding more and more businesses and buildings and resorts to his portfolio, boggles at least my mind. Additionally, he provides a living for 15,000 or so of his own employees plus any number of builders, contractors and suppliers and their employees, as well. Regardless of what you may think of his style, the Donald creates much that is good and many people benefit from his produce.

O’Donnell, on the other hand, can’t seem to manage anything more than to be a loud, aggressive, insensitive and abrasive wise-ass who thinks her own feelings on any given matter are paramount and who doesn’t give a shit about the feelings of anyone else. She’s a tyrant to her employees, couldn’t give a shit less about them and is quick to bail on them anytime something doesn’t go her way, a she seems to be a person who feels that if you can’t say something bad or smartass about someone (barring those she’s personally fond of, of course), you shouldn’t say anything at all.

Like I said, what goes around comes around. She richly deserves every hurtful or insulting word that’s coming her way, and I, for one, am delighted to see that she’s finally getting what’s coming to her…and in such a public way, given that that’s how she’s chosen to assail so many others all this time. You know…live by the sword, die by the sword, and all that.

And on preview, thanks to Giraffe for intercepting whole bean’s fart before I had to deal with it.

Trump has not personally filed for bankruptcy. The companies he has run have filed for bankruptcy.

What the hell does that mean? She’s been with more guys than him or she’s been with more members of the opposite sex than him? Or he’s just a big baby?

For someone who’s supposedly a big wheeler-dealer he is really isn’t very glib and him harping on Rosie’s looks was childish. EVERYONE makes fun of Donald’s combover. I’ve heard Jay Leno and David Letterman and lots of other male comedians comment on it but Donald only seems to have a problem and threaten to sue when a woman says something about it. It wasn’t that long ago that Joy Behar of The View was catching heck from him for comments about his hair. Donald tries to refute these combover claims by carefully lifting up the hair in front to show that it’s attached. Yes, Donald we get it the hair in front is attached and that’s the hair you comb over the big honkin’ bald spot behind it and then plaster down with five cans of hair spray so it won’t move.

As for the comment that he’s only attacking after someone else makes nasty comments first so he’s just defending himself; In Rosie’s case he could have been the bigger man and ignored it and not come off as a pouty petulant child. Not many people really care about Rosie’s opinion but if you attack her and call her fat and ugly a lot of women will jump to her defense. As for Martha Stewart, I’m sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but I thought the worse thing she said was that her Apprentice show was not really promoted by Trump and the network. (Obviously. it wasn’t given a chance because they put it opposite Lost. I’d like to have seen Trump’s show try to win against Lost.) Then Trump lashed out as he is wont to do.

I really, really don’t like Rosie but I totally despise Trump. What an egotistical blowhard! Okay, they both are, but he’s still worse.

They’re both grotesque people and undeserving of our attention.

Does the Miss USA Pageant convey an image of particularly wholesome and traditionally moral young womanhood? Not to me. And if Donald Trump is going public with his criticisms he needs to have a little better public image himself. He also represents the corporation that owns the Miss USA Pageant.

I think Donald’s biggest mistake (and this seemed to be what pissed Rosie off) was calling a very humiliating press conference to announce the results of his decision to allow the young woman to retain her title. She was sobbing with gratitude. Some day she will hate him for that moment in which she reduced herself to a blubbering mess.

He should have made the decision in private and released his decision to the press without a public show. For a little publicity he has left this young woman with a memory that will forever humiliate her.

And we can all see how poorly he reacts to just a little bit of humiliation himself.

I’m no great fan of Rosie, but he had this one coming. And his response was very childishly phrased. I expected him to call her a “fuck bubble” next. He was beginning to run out of insults. (“Fuck bubble” was a favorite of a certain two year old I knew. They learn early!)

That’s pretty much what Anderson Cooper said (in more diplomatic America’s-asexual-sweetheart media-friendly words) on his show last night. His only comment was to the effect of (I’m paraphrasing) “I don’t know what to say… I just… don’t know what to say… they’re both so… well anyway…” and he moved on to the next segment.

Rosie was way out of line with the uninformed comments on Trump’s financial dealings (which I think wounded his vanity the most) and rude but right-on in his habit of marrying models. Trump’s response, however, was so over the top as to make him the villain when he was the one assaulted.

Donald, if you’re reading this (and we all know you are), you should have hired Bruce Vilanche or some other professional “witty comeback” writer. With the right understated and bitchy biting response he could have emerged the CLEAR winner, but evidently brilliance in business does not in his case lend itself to brilliance in ripostes (very few are the joke book entries from Andrew Carnegie, Andrew Mellon or Joe Kennedy after all). Instead he has now in terms of perception if not in actuality (but the two can be interchangeable in public relations) insulted fat women (of whom there are one helluva lot more than there are models), lesbians (the “she wants to crown Miss USA herself” line and the “I’ll send one of my friends to pick up” Rosie’s girlfriend, for all she needs evidently is a good man) and by extensions gays (GLAAD has about as much of a self effacing sense of humor as Trump so no doubt they’ll have a statement soon) and housewives (the View’s core audience), Barbara Walters (by airing her dirty laundry with the “she hates Rosie” stuff- even if it’s true [and it probably is, though Barbara also has a reputation as a notorious bitch in her own right] Walters isn’t crass or self-damaging enough to admit it, though she may have ‘leaked’ it to Trump to test the waters without saying it herself as she can always go back and deny it). And that’s just for starters.

CHRIST ALMIGHTY PEOPLE! Can we concentrate on real issues like Iraq and Clay Aiken’s attempted rape of Kelly Ripa?

PS- My prediction for the future of this: Rosie will play the gay card big time, Trump will make apology to lesbians without revoking comments on Rosie. If he does sue Rosie will countersue him, Gore Vidal will sue them both for no apparent reason other than he’s 80 and likes to sue people, Little Richard will sue claiming he started both of them in their careers and all cases will be dismissed.

I, for one, think we should make Clay Aiken get a tattoo on his head so we know who he is and where he is. Better yet, let’s stick him in a camp! We can’t have him going around sexually assaulting our tremendously annoying day time TV hosts! Yes! A camp and tattoo! Excellent ideas!

Wait. Wrong thread.

Than Rosie? I think not.

I DID see the article you stupid bitch!
Wait… also wrong thread.

And also wrong Doper. Somehow Diosa and Ms Robyn look alike in this lighting (hence any confusion), but the point is we can all hate Rosie and Donald without being bad people and wars are made by Jews.

I pretty much agree with your whole post. I don’t have much of an opinion about Rosie. I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than watch a show like The View so I only know the tidbits I read about on the internet. I don’t really know or care why she got involved either.

I do think the whole press conference bit was humiliating too. He’s always been an arrogant jerk but that was horrible. Does she even have a drinking problem, or did she just get carried away partying for a few months? I’m sure the other patients at the rehab that do have problems will be thrilled that someone being punished is sent there while they’re trying to deal with real problems.

According to this ratings have gone up since she’s been on the View.
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117955333.html?categoryid=1275&cs=1

I’ll take their word for it. I’ve probably watched about 5 minutes of the show before Rosie went on and have never seen her on the show.

“Overall, “The View” averaged a 1.7 rating in the key demo of women 18-49, making it the No. 4 show in all of daytime. The View” also scored record ratings in the total viewer category, attracting an average aud of 3.4 million viewers – up 15% vs. the same frame in 2005."

That audience probably didn’t take the "fat’ and “ugly” comments very well.

Thanks. I wondered if anyone else would pick up on that.

My favorite bit from the stand-up routines (I don’t remember if it was Leno or Letterman or Conan):

“Miss USA will get to keep her crown, and Trump will get to keep whatever the hell that thing on his head is.”

As I did on the last Rosie brouhaha (the Clay/Kelly thing) I will apply my omniscient powers to assign blame, on a scale of 1 (saintliness) to 10 (flaming asshole).

Miss USA: 2. She’s underage, but likes to hang out in bars and party. Not exemplary behavior, especially in a Beauty Queen who should be the Paragon of all that we hold dear and precious. But not uncommon.

Donald (round 1): 6. Getting all in a huff because his brand has been compromised. Rehab? Give me a friggin’ break. If every 20-year-old who parties too often went to rehab, we’d have to convert every college dorm in the country to a rehab facility.

Rosie: 6. Who asked you, anyway? Why does someone’s marital problems make them immoral? (outing Clay, pissing off Kelly Ripa, and making ethnically insenstive Chinese jokes…she’s on a roll. I don’t think she’ll be on The View at the end of 2007.)

Donald (round 2): 10. Responds to the attack by bringing out the elementary school recess playbook. “Oh yeah? Well…you’re fat. And ugly.”

If anyone other than Rosie had called Donald Slug on his slime, it would have rolled off his back (hair?). He is a serial adulterer, with possibly incestuous tastes in women, lecturing a girl 1/3 his age on the immorality of drinking under age while 20 and living in Manhattan. Pot- Kettle- Black.

Rosie may fade into obscurity as a footnote re: the voice of young Tarzan’s ape friend on DVD special editions our great great grandkids buy from Disney. She’s a hateful spiteful person who needs to work on her issues…but sometimes even a shotgun can drop a lone-pellet into the bulls-eye.

Also, aren’t Trump’s bankruptcy filings a matter of public record?

Trump is a pathetic buffoon. The only person who doesn’t realize he’s actually an idiot is him and that’s almost painful to watch. Shatner makes jest of himself and I love him madly for it but Trump clearly lacks the wit.

You do realize that what really got up his nose was any intimation that he might actually have … failed… at something. You heard him over and over going on about how Rosie had ‘failed’ at bla and blabla and whatsis (to Larry King’s credit, he pointed out that Rosie has won a passel of Emmys).

Trump has all his ego invested in his acquisition of wealth (how many edifices now named after him? I’m shocked he doesn’t live at Mara Trump but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time) and she hit below the belt (in his opinion) when she mentioned the bankruptcies. Which, BTW, is not anything I hadn’t heard before including, I’m sure, from him.

Anderson Cooper’s commentators (lawyers included) had a field day with it. Lawyer said ‘You can’t sue for an opinion. I think Trump’s a horse’s ass but he can’t sue me for my opinion’

As a friend of mine says, ‘Trump’s got issues with hair on’ Rosie may not be a sterling example of perfect behaviour (but how much worse is she than Joan Rivers and they’re both hilarious) but if I never saw Trump again it would be too soon. I do believe I’d miss Rosie some.

Do you seriously think that Donald Trump is the biggest asshole EVER?

I mean…there is always Hitler.

Not that I disagree with you as to his…well, you know.
