So I’m 4 weeks into this graphic design course at Uni and the homework this week is really dry and boring, and somewhat complicated. I think it ought to have been at the end of the course, not at the beginning when we don’t know what we’re doing.
I may fail this subject. Don’t really care if I do, to be honest. I’m too old for this shit.
Blurf. I am at irk, it is not exactly irksome but I is not enthusiastic about any of it. I am trying to do a bunch of things that require input from other people. Input has not been forthcoming then they start griping when said job isn’t getting done, then start drip-feeding information that would have made much more sense (and been much more use) if they’d parted with it three months ago.
Entertaining moment of the day… I had a call from someone wanting to enrol on our translation studies course but only speaks English. Apparently they thought a Masters level course was designed to teach them another language and then teach them to translate between that and English. D’oh!
My poorly foot is no worse today, it survived a 45-minute spin class at the gym last night, and also survived the workout I did on Monday at home. Same cannot be said of my hips which are currently protesting every time I get up. I will have a night off exercise tonight because it’s pub night, and then have another go tomorrow.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of ONLY 89 and scattered storms for the day. We shall see. The big plan today is to go to the IGA sto’ in Da Burg this mornin’. They have a sale on steaks and beast roasts. Also, I have chikin in the slow cooker that will turn into chikin sallit tomorrow. Dindin will be beastloaf, mac 'n cheese, steamed cabbage and cornbread cause that’s what I want and also one of OYKW’s favorite meals. All win-win!
Rio what a little cutey!
BatKid hang in there! You can pass this course.
OK, I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification must commence.
Yep. Back to school was Monday - districts in my state aren’t completely synchronized, but most have adopted an almost-year-round schedule. Two months of summer, plus a couple of extra week-long breaks in the fall and spring. Same 180 days of instruction. I’m OK with it. (I didn’t like the notion at first, because it’s kind of nice to be able to plan a vacation in October or April, if the mood or budget allows. And maybe the kids retain more year-to-year with a shorter summer break?)
**Spidey **- **FCD **has the same bumper sticker I have, altho he hasn’t put it on the truck yet. I may have to do it for him… I don’t mind mocking Trumpkin, but I dunno about that one. Maybe it’s just too early in the day.
For funsies, I get to go to the MVA after work. My daughter’s car was titled in my name because her trade-in was in my name and we didn’t want to pay the extra at the time to change it. So now I’ve got to pay to change it so she can get it titled in FL. It’s a long, convoluted tale, but the bottom line is she has to get it titled there within a month, so I’ve got to take care of it now. Here’s hoping Weds is a slow day at the Loveville office.
Other than that, just another boring day. And the next few days promise to be a pain in the patoot. ugh.
*Apologies. Posted a partial reply unintentionally. *

And I sort of miss EBT reload day. For the size of my household, we didn’t get a lot of help, but pennies matter. And I always tried to keep 5 or 10 dollars on the account at the end of our month, in case things were dire and I needed milk and bread. That new balance with 3 digits seemed like such a luxury, and yeah - maybe grapes and cherries instead of bananas. Romaine instead of iceberg. Little luxuries.
And I think I have another secret. Everyone, including my husband, is well aware that I am still friends with my high school boyfriend. Perfectly open and above-board. Except that every 6 or 12 months, I get a little sweet and slightly flirtatious message from my first boyfriend. 30 years later, he still thinks I’m kinda cute. And I don’t encourage him, because I truly adore my husband. But I have to admit that I am flattered.
Tch. If we ever get the chance I have to explain to you about levantamiento de barra(1) and alzamiento de birra(2), two disciplines which aren’t Olympic because apparently singing Asturias Patria Querida and God Save the Queen at bonnet-rising volumes isn’t considered Olympic-appropriate.
It’s a sunny 73 degrees outside, with a high of 82 today. Nice weather but kind of cool for August.
I woke up in the middle of the night, couldn’t get back to sleep, then slept through the alarm and was late for irk.
Now I feel like hell.
Some breakfast should help.
Planned to mow the lawn this morning so of course the one rain shower in the region parked itself overhead for 45 minutes, so I’ll have to wait for the afternoon (and the heat) to mow it. Blurf.
Also need to get bread (water is still available). Trying to assemble some soccer stuff I bought, and finding that my skills of assembly are still non-existent. Try again this afternoon.
My re-growing beard is at the stage where it is not really a beard, but can’t be called stubble, so yes, I do look like a hobo…
Car oil is freshly changed. For new oil and not something interesting like nuclear waste but it has been changed. So everything is ready for the annual family invasion/visit to Knoebels on the 12th. Any Mumpers who wish to join in are more than welcome; we’ll be the silliest people in the park that day so finding us is pretty easy. As an added enticement that Saturday is the double-header of the alternative calendar for the Wyoming Valley ---- it is both Pride Day at Knoebels and Kielbasa Day in Plymouth PA. I’ll pack a fresh bottle of NitroQuik in case the excitement (and horseradish sauce) gets to me.
Lunch time! If **FCD **hadn’t called, I’d have worked right thru it! The boss finally gave me something to do, altho I don’t know if it’ll keep me busy on Firday when he won’t be here. I’ll talk to him before I leave today.
Toying with the idea of asking to be put on a 32 hour work week - it’s still considered full time (meaning I can still do the 401k) but I won’t be so rushed every weekend trying to get stuff done. We shall see. Maybe I’ll wait till after my vacation, just to be sure I earn enough time off.
