spidey, if I’m not mistaken, Lucky Louie would probably fit IN that backpack.
Glad that FCD is out of surgery and doing well. Mooooom.
I’m grabbing a bite of lunch before heading to the new place dor a walk through. I didn’t know that the USPO charged a buck to change your address online. I came out money ahead though, as they texted me discounts for a number of places, including where I’m purchasing my washer and dryer, saving me $85.
FCM, glad to hear the surgery went well. Hope it is the last one he’ll need.
Was planning to go out to get a couple of things at the stores and drop off my monthly Mutual Fund deposit, but there is thunder and lightning about, so I think I’ll wait it out and go a bit later. Very little rain…yet.
Home for a little bit. I wanted to let the dog out and get her fed, plus **FCD **wanted a few things from home. I’ll hang around here a little while, then head back to the hospital for a few more hours. The only thing I don’t like about the hospital he’s in is the commute - it’s like 40 minutes away. Our local hospital is only about 10 minutes down the road, but its reputation is less than stellar, as are the orthopedists who practice there. So…
C’mon, Firday!!! C’mon, October! Mama wants a cruise!!

Yay for being in PACU! Don’t recall if you mentioned if he was staying overnight or not.
As for the drive times, that’s a no-brainer. Go to the good place. For DH’s regular chemo, we’d drive past three hospitals to go to the one that’s a Center of Excellence, or whatever the term is. Where we went for the advanced stuff was a nearly two hour trip, but that hospital is one of the ten best in the country.
**gotti **- he’s supposed to be there till Saturday. His catheter comes out tomorrow, and he has to pee before they’ll let him go. Plus he’s got to have some therapy and I expect that since they put more metal in his back, they’ll want to keep him under their control a little longer. I’m glad. This was a more complicated operation than the last 2, which were barely above day surgery. I’m hoping they’ll get his pain under control, too, before they let him go home.
Speaking of which, I need to get his prescription for Percocet filled.
When awakening from surgery I was told by the nurse that if I didn’t pee, they would replace the catheter. Still groggy, I got out of bed and tried to urinate in front of my former wife and my girlfriend. Perhaps the nurse, too. I do not advocate drug abuse, but if you can do it under adult supervision…
The walk through is complete, I have the keys and the washer and dryer will be there Tuesday morning. Alli have to do tonight is seal two cartons and pack up the teevee. And finish the last two beers.
Long day today. After irk Swiss Miss, the night audit lady, picked me up and we went to BFW (the W stands for west) for a visitation. The funeral kind. For Detailed AGM’s SIL who (literally) dropped dead last Friday. We just stayed for the general milling around before the service, chatted with Detailed, met some of his family (in true mountain tradition, his family tree is a telephone pole), and then went back to irk where I picked up my car and went the long way home due to rush hour traffic.
Sweet story I heard: SIL’s granddaughter was present when SIL collapsed and had to be carried to the hospital via helicopter. Granddaughter’s parents told her that the helicopter took her grandma to heaven. All together now: Aaaaaaaaaaw. sniffle Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw.
Howdy Y’all! Been an afternoon of mostly sloth here. I went out to the cee-mint pond for a bit, decided it was time to come back inside, showered, and napped. Retirement is a good thing! We had sammiches for dindin. Tomorrow mornin’ early I shall make mass quantities of chikin sallit sammiches and betake myself over to the church house to funeralize. OYKW is takin’ tomorrow off just cause so he’ll go with me and afterwards we shall go to the [del]hawg trough[/del] Golden Corral for N.O.L. One needs to eat after mournin’ in order to keep up one’s strength.
MOOOOOOM glad FCD is recoverin’. Here’s hopin’ for fast healin’ and no more surgery.
Seems my brother took a turn for the worse and is in hospital. He has had liver problems for the past year, and he’s tentatively on a pre-list for a transplant, but he had been managing it well enough to not quite be on the proper waiting list. That may change now.
Meanwhile, today I have a day off as both teachers for the day are away.
**batboy **- sorry to hear about your brother. For some, probably illogical, reason, I find the thought of a transplant more terrifying than almost any other medical procedure. Most likely because I don’t understand the whole process.
When I was in the waiting area yesterday, I overheard a man telling someone else how he and his wife were both awaiting kidney transplants. She had just gotten hers and he was there for a few more tests before getting his next week. The whole conversation was so casual, as if transplants are no big deal.
Silly me - I left the bedroom door open last night and ended up with Higgs and Taz trying to sleep with me. The windows were open, and when Higgs heard some distant barking, she had to have her say. And Taz would *not *settle down. I finally had enough, threw them both out of the room and locked the door. Then I got some sleep.
I’ll be leaving the office early today to take care of a few errands before running over to the hospital again. I foresee another long day ahead.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 along with rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. Today we funeralize a very long time member of good ol’ St. Pat’s. Mr. Dunlap died early last month and was cremated. Today will be the memorial service over to the church house. I hope the rain holds off until he gets plopped down in the Columbarium. Shortly I shall commence with the makin’ of chikin sallit sammiches which will be part of the N.O.L. served to the family after the service. OYKW and I shall bug out after the service to hit the [del]hog trough[/del] Golden Corral for N.O.L. Tomorrow is the big Ordination to the Priesthood service at another Whiskypalian church in town. That shall encompass the mornin’. Later tomorrow afternoon we shall accomplish mowage of the back forty over to the church house provided it does not rain which is predicted. Sunday we will go up to the nursin’ home in Dawson to help celebrate JDD’s parents 72nd weddin’ anniversary. I promised to make some cheese thangs which I will do Sunday mornin’. We shall not deheathenate on Sunday bein’ as well, we will have already hung around a Bishop and lot of Priests Sattidy so if we ain’t deheathenated after all that we never will be.
BatBoy prayers and good thoughts headed out for your brother.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should get purtified and make sammiches. Then I shall properly suit up for funeralizin’.
