"Don't Trust the B- in Apartment 23" -- Second Season Premiere, Tuesday, October 23, 2012

So, who watched the second season premiere last night, and what did you think about it?

Ok. I like the concept that Dawson is just a random add-on to the show (the quirky friend). But centering the episode around him and Dawson’s creek doesn’t work as well, because I DIDN’T watch that show and I have no idea who blondie was. Sure I know pacey and katie holmes and Michelle williams from pop culture and catching parts of episodes, etc. I hope this isn’t foreboding for the rest of the season. Throwing in Frankie Muniz and Mark Paul Gosseler cameos were awesome, but that is what I’d like to see Dawson used as.

While I agree in general that it’s better if James Van Der Beek is not the center of the plot, he is pretty darn funny. Loved the scene where he was walking down the street with the internal monologue, decolorized. With “Baker Street” as the background music.

And Chloe’s tranquilizer gun. “Tranq sex. It’s consensual.”

JVDB is hilarious!

And I loved the trank-dart scene. You don’t expect to see something like that in a sitcom, but this one is certainly up for some zany scenes!

The show creator was a writer for American Dad, which kind of explains the more surreal cut-scenes.

Interesting! I had no idea.

Well, come to think of it, Chloe is quite a bit like a cartoon character. A sexy-as-hell cartoon character…

I like tall brunettes. Can you tell?

JVDB is Hilarious… when he’s a minor character. I was disappointed they didn’t have the Asian neighbor chick in the episode. It would be funny if Katie Holmes would do a cameo. I could see it happening now that Tom Cruise won’t be stopping her.

I like the “Asian neighbor chick”, too.

I have not watched the show this season but I saw it a few times last year and liked it way more than I expected I would. It was darker than I expected and that’s good.

The best JVDB quote from last year was when he was trying to act like a teenaged girl.

“Don’t pay any attention to Chloe. She’s totes cray-cray.”

Was that the same episode where Chloe adopted a girl ? Because I loved that one!

It was the one with Kiernan Shipka from Mad Men. They were in a movie together where they switch bodies.

I just looked it up on IMDB – it is called “Parent Trap”. Hilarious!

At the end, they were on the movie set, and every one but JVDB thought that it was a train wreck. He thought that he was doing some of his best work ever. Very funny!

I think I’d like the show better without the B and the blonde girl whose eyeballs are trying to escape from her face. Just crazy Asian girl, JVDB, and other minor characters.

Well, I gotta admit that all the characters are good, but no June or Chloe? Oh, the horror!

I really like the “B” but I find her blond roomate just unwatchable. can’t stand her. ruins the show for me.
