Madawc, yeah I was aware that we almost had white (12:00) out of the game, but he managed to hole up in his nat before we could finish him off. Stupid doub terran.
You know what I realized right after the game, though, I could have switched to lurk at ANY time and crushed them. They were both real low on metal and extremely late with SVs. Suffice it to say that we both missed multiple opportunities and made our share of mistakes. I also plumb forgot to include defilers, if I had had plague to go along with all the blings and snares they’d have been such toast.
And my muta micro left a lot to be desired, although (I don’t know if you noticed on the replay) that I only lost 1 of them on my 2 initial flyovers of blue (6:00), and that was nice, but then I just left them sitting there doing nothing instead of picking off depots like they’re supposed to. And if I had established my base at 9:00 nat and my hatches at the old 3:00 home earlier my cracks would have made a huge difference in their constant assault on your 3:00 nat after they had chased us to the islands. Lord knows why they didn’t just turbo the ledge over the 3:00 nat though, they could have done that at any time and halved your econ. For that matter, I never bothered to defend my top island and they could have eliminated me at pretty much any time they chose, if they had only bothered.

There are enough people that have expressed interest in this thread to get something together of a decent size. If any of you are interested in just playing a few games on bnet at any time, though, just drop me an email or an IM (both in my profile) and we can play a couple.
Sooner or later I’ll just pick a date since no one seems to want to organize it and send you all an email. And then we’ll play.
Madawc, I think it’d be a little fairer to split up and take different partners, since many of the players here don’t have as much experience. Oh, and one last thing – I didn’t save it, would you mind emailing me the rep if you’ve still got it? Thanks kindly.

damn, every time i watch it, i can think of so many things i could’ve done! hightemps, arbiters… gawd why did i make carriers lol… i even knew they had lockdown by then. man i suck. mage units wouldve fared better than doing brute force, since minerals weren’t limitless.

It will be a standard map, no E V O L V E S or Turrent Defense. Although, we could play some of those too, but not counting for the tournament. And I hate rushing. No NR5 type games.
I’m thinking random draw. I’ll flip a coin/something similar, unless a doper can think of something better.
I’m thinking between 1:00-6:00 on a saturday, although I can imagine it would need to be altered due to schedules/time zones.

I’m assuming the first two are maps, but what’s an NR5 type game? And speaking of time zones, what zone is the 1-5 coming from?

Heh Mad, I never even thought of temps. That would have ruined them too. Your mobility would have been more problematic though. I also never realized, but you’re completely right, that they didn’t work together at all. Lurks would have been solid gold. Actually, in retrospect, you were right in the first place that I should have just gone straight there instead of mut/ling. Old habits die hard, though, and I’ve never been good at a quick lurk build. Got the rep in the email. Thanks. KKB, “NR” means ‘no rush.’ Newbies on money maps play nr15 or nr20 because they need to ‘get ready’ before the actual game starts.
Aslan2, you’re sort of contradicting yourself there by saying you don’t like rushing and you don’t like ‘nr,’ but I’ll just go ahead and assert that we won’t be playing nr anything.
Got your email Aslan2. Haven’t been home much this week so I haven’t been answering any emails. I can answer you here, though: there’s no way. You’ll have to put the list together manually. Should only take a sec. I’ll do it sometime tonight or tomorrow if you don’t feel like it.
the more i think about this tourney, the less I’m actually thinking it’s a good idea…
It seems as if most of the people willing to participate aren’t too good. The luck of a draw may screw the less skilled people and the “better/experienced” players will zoom through the game.
Maybe we should just gather and play some “fun” games versus cpus or play a massive 2v2v2v2 type game on one of those large maps. Crowning a champion in this tourney isn’t going to be a glory moment. We should just meet and have fun and learn together.
And for the NR or no rush thing… I don’t like restrictions on gameplay. No Rules is a better thing, although I mean rules in the game and not maphacks or whatever hacks that are out there. Ive seen a weird ass building hack that allows the hack user to build multiple buildings on top of each other. Wow, these people need to start playing legitly, how pathetic are they?
Best maps to play on are the ladder maps, but any Blizzard approved map is fine with me.
White Lightning, I usually come on here and there. But I am mainly a USEast Diablo2 player. My usual online time is 11PM-2AM EST.
WL, I don’t like rushing because usually leads to a short game, especially if we will be playing with the more inexeprinced SC players in this thread. I don’t quite see why me not liking rush 5 would be contrary.
Also, currently I have very limitied online computer acess. It is very appreciated if you did email all the people, because due to my internt connecton crapping out for extended periods of time or loading ridicously slowly, I have difficulty getting all the emails and sending them out.
Ah, but what fun is SC without rushes? If rushing isn’t fair to those not used to it, let’s get everybody used to it.
Personally, my early game is the only part of my game that is reasonably good, so I like the idea of early rushes - wouldn’t know what to do without it.
Why don’t we just table the idea of a tournament for now and just settle in for a few hours of doper-on-doper action?
