I got nuthin’, due to no free time these days. But I’d like to see what everyone else is working on. I’m particularly interested in paintings at the moment, but that’s me…it just popped into my head. All creative endeavors are welcome. Please share!!!
OK, here’s an illustration of a Coelophysis that I did fairly recently for a British publishing house…still trying to perfect the art of composite images…

And here’s a dragon I did for my employer…

Very cool! What is this an illustration for??
My first set design is currently on stage, but my photo’s of that are on my work computer. If I have time I could post them tomorrow.
I know it’s not a painting, but it’s been keeping me busy lately.
Um, I’m not much of a painter, but I do take photographs. And I like having fun with Photoshop every once and a while. AND I write too, but rarely. You can wade through some of my crap here:
I haven’t done much lately (my last mural was two years ago). Here’s an “altered art” Photoshop project, does that count?
Cool! Another mural artist!
This is work in progress.
Not a painting, but this is a character that I have been working on in my spare time as of late.
Steampunky. Cool.

SparrowHawk, that is GORGEOUS!
Here is some of my recent 3D work:
PigeonMan and GuanoLad
PigeonMan’s car
A Train (composited onto a photograph)
A dragon I’m just beginning to build
A female figure
In my geeky days around age 12 my friends and I designed our own science fiction civilizations. We imagined their fleets and battles and spaceship designs. These are some surviving drawings of “my starships” from that era around 1978. Drawn on notebook paper in history class. Yes I know I was a complete loser.
Wow! Such talented people around here! I love that! And very diverse interests. Keep 'em coming!
Here is what I’ve done since January:
OCTO FELES - this was a class assignment with ridiculous rules (“This assignment has to encorporate the following: a) a self portrait, full body; b) at least two other people; c) elements of 16th/17th century Italy; d) both inside and outside, e) a hidden passage; f) a treasure hunt; and g) a phrase. The phrase I chose is “OCTO FELES” (“eight cats”) and there are 8 cats in the painting.”). I had to do it in gag acrylic, and I hate it. I kind of stopped caring along the way, so it sucks. There are 8 cats in it, including this little guy who is smaller than a dime. That was a pain in my ass.
Agile - another assignment, also in acrylic, which I also don’t like. The assignment was to do a painting based on a word from a list he handed out. I picked “agile”. I think it looks like a stupid cartoon.
Jacob Trip - also an assignment, but he let me use oils. The assignment was to choose a Rembrandt and copy it. This is about 1/4 scale to the original. There is a lot of glare on the photo so it isn’t a good representation.
Nude #1 - an oil I did on my own (not for class) 18" x 24"
Illumination - another oil I did on my own (a little one; 9"x 12")
Under Cover - another oil on my own, 24" x 30"
White Horse - oil, totally different style, just playing around. I don’t think I’m finished with this one yet.
Being Art - my giant five-foot-by-five-foot self portrait that I kind of finished last night (though I think I will still work on it a little, I have to hand it in for a grade today.)
I’m a photographer. Click on my sig line.
My Online Portfolio. There is lots to look at, but it is also due an update with a photography page and a bunch more illustrations…
OpalCat,
Thank you for linking to Octo Feles. I remember your threads when you were looking for inspiration/reference photos/ etc. but I don’t recall you linking to your end result. I was thinking about this the other day with respect to your thread on your Being Art piece. (Not of course, at the same time as I was anywhere near my computer). That’s a busy piece of art. Kind of nifty, but complicated–but so were your directions.
Gorgeous! Can we see more?
Nice stuff Sage Rat, I especially like that Lady Joker and Pirate pictures.
I’m not sure if it is just me, but I can’t seem to load any of GuanoLad’s pictures. And I was hoping to see some more 3D work too.
Opal Cat, there is not much I can say besides: Wow, those are some great paintings.
Icerigger, you needn’t feel alone in your excessive nerdiness. I can assure you that the great tradition of spending class time drawing detailed sketches of space ships (complete with stats on armaments, size, and crew complements) is one that lasted at least into the mid nineties when I was 12.
In relation to the character I posted up thread I figured I could go back a few months to the last thing I completed. So here are a few shots of his ship.
