Doper coffee mug exchange

I haven’t been mugged yet either. After today, I’ll be away from the computer until Monday, so I’ll let you know what’s going on then.

It was not a box, but that is still good information to know. My mother does mail packages out now and then. She has asked me to put them in the mail box with the flag up but I always just take them to work and have the mailroom give them to the mailman when he picks up the office mail. She uses the USPS website to address and pay for the postage. I guess the mailman has always taken it because it is being picked up from a company.

I haven’t been mugged yet. I will let you guys know when I have.

Seeker75, IMHO Gates is the world’s best barbeque sauce (I used to live in K.C.). I really missed it, but more and more other BBQ places are changing their sauces to taste like Gates. Here we can buy “KC Masterpiece” which comes in a bottle that looks like a Gates bottle and tastes like Gates.

Item #2 - concerning U.S. <–> Canada mail
I was browsing the USPS web site and came across this bulletin dated Oct. 2004.

It sounds like Canada recently implemented a new policy, and I’m guessing they’re going through an adjustment period.

I need one of you to e-mail me at work with twickster’s correct name spelling and mailing address. Apparently, I entered something wrong when I ordered the mug and now FedEx can’t deliver. I’m at work until 5:00 ET. My home e-mail is in my profile. I e-mailed you both with my work address.
Thanks guys!

oh, and sorry twickster - it looks like the crystal ball was wrong. It didn’t forsee me screwing up. :smack:

In the mail today. Sorry for the delay. Let me know if it arrives okay. For insurance I did not pay. I did mark it FRA-GI-LE.

Not a prob – I just emailed you at the address in your profile – and from my work email, so check your spam catcher in case it didn’t like the mystery dot com involved.

Anna, laina… Tsk tsk tsk! Shame on you! Gate’s is the devil’s toe jam compared to the tangy elixir that is Bryant’s. And here’s why- it contains LARD. Don’t believe me? Check the bottle. You know what Emeril says: “Pork fat rules!”

Anna, if you think it’s good on tater tots try dipping fresh, skin-on fries in the Bryant’s. Now THAT’S some good eatin’. If you’re ever up KC way, I implore you to pay hommage to the original Bryant’s joint. Great beef, great turkey, great chicken. If you’re in a sweeter, sassier mood try LC’s. Best damned burnt ends and beans on the planet.
Hey, I’m passionate about barbeque and sauces. As if you couldn’t tell. BBQ is like a religion here.

I’m so glad you dig the sauce!

I misunderstood. I thought you sent a bottle of Gates. Otherwise I would’ve said nothing. I don’t want to start a barbeque flame war.

I hope I didn’t sound bitchy. I didn’t mean to. Sorry.

Oh dear.

I know I had to fill out a ginormous customs document, unlike the tiny little green card we used to use, but I don’t think I put CANADA all in CAPS on the LAST LINE.

There may be a Canada doper out there cursing my name, if only said doper knew what name to curse! sob

Hillbilly Queen, forgive me for not posting sooner. Your wonderful kitten covered mug arrived a few weeks ago, but I’ve been on the road and unable to get away from work until this point.

Thanks so much for the coffee! Unfortunately, the Moon Pies and Goo-Goo Clusters were a little to, erm, sweet, for our tastes (we don’t eat any sweets at all here in pickerville.) I did however pass them along to my muggee, who should receive his NLT Friday - (shipped Monday around 5 PM, 2 to 3 day from Madison to Scranton, PA)

Yea, I’m talking to you, Casey1505. If you haven’t received it yet, it should be there Friday. If not, email me and I’ll track the package.

I got my mug yesterday! However, whoever sent it to me didn’t include their SDMB name, so I’m not sure who sent it. But thank you! It’s a nice mug and come good coffee. I’ve never heard of your little town – I’ll have to google it and find out more.

Ok - just to update some folks - I sent out 4 packages to the US on the 12th of November and 3 of them arrived yesterday, which is 13 days, the 4th I haven’t heard anything yet - so, if anyone hasn’t received their mug yet, hold tight - it could be coming from Canada!

FWIW, I watched my mug (that I was sending) put on the Canada post truck on Tuesday evening, so it’s enroute, at the very least.

It will be interesting to see if any mugs are returned to sender due to the address not being in all capital letters. Surely it would be far easier for the postal employee to simply write “CANADA” on the address than to return the package. But then I don’t pretend to understand the workings of the bureaucratic mind.

No worries.

It’ll sure beat the end of the month bills I’ll be getting, and I havent had a goo-goo cluster in ages!

::Run run run…open door…check!- sigh.::

Still no mug for me. :frowning:

No – much cooler! Today I got an extremely cute snowman mug with cocoa mix and candy canes. Yum! Your crystal ball was correct that I’ve got a horrendous sweet tooth and I’m much more likely to use a mug for cocoa than for coffee.

Thanks a million, congodwarf!

I keep watching. I keep waiting. I keep wondering.

I’m trying to check only when the mailman has actually been here.

I’m really hoping that a mug arrived for Avarie537 by now - it went out priority mail, so it should be there. If for some reason it doesn’t get there by, say, the 1st, let me know and I can send another one out.
