The plan is to follow the Wooley Time Table[sup]TM[/sup]. Spring due Tuesday night, Fall due Thursday night, Winter due Friday night. Starting approximately 1902. 1901 turns get more time. Unless I hear differently I’ll assume we’re going forward with that. I really don’t like having a different schedule every week. I suppose I could get a calendar if I had to.
Yes, Abe, and our toilet water flows differently over here as well.
Regarding country preferences and assignments: If two people request the same first choice, is it more fair to a) give it to neither of them and give them both their second choice, or b) give it to one of them.
My first thought was that “a” was clearly correct. Give both players their second choice and they’ve been treated equally fairly. But then I realized that the result of that is that one of the non-preference giving players would end up with that country, having not expressed a preference for it at ALL, and that that is unfair to both the players having chosen that country as their first choice.
Am I making sense?
But then of course the question becomes, which of the players choosing that country as their top choice should get it. Picking one of them randomly seems obvious but not quite right.
When I did mine I determined it based on availablilty of second choice. If one person’s second choice was unavailable I gave them the first choice, netting everyone the highest possible ranked power.
In other words:
Player 1: F E I G T R A
Player 2: F G T I R A E
Player 3: E T R I G A F
etc…
Presuming no one selected G as their first choice, I’d give player 1 France and Player 2 Germany and Player 3 England.
But, all things being equal I’d flip a coin and give it to one of them.
I’m here, woo. I was offline yesterday, it won’t happen again as long as the game is running.
My preferences: Any country, standard rules, one week sounds fine.
I’d be more than happy to help with the HTML. I have hepjet.com, jjabc.net, and wikkit.com; I’d prefer it went on wikkit.com (unless you already have a space for it).
That’s 7. I’ve got 4 preference lists and 3 declarations of non-preference. I can almost do assignments from memory, but I’ll do them tonight from home just to be sure. Expect to see those emails by 7pm PST, and then the Dipping will begin. Deadline for S01 set at Friday, February 14th, 7pm PST.
Oh, I’m sorry Wikkit, there’s already a Ben in this game. It’s an esoteric but important rule that we can allow be violated. So you’ll just have to sit on the sidelines and wait for the next one.
A pity you declined to play, Shibb, or you’d get to find out if it’s possible to fit a jackboot in your eyesocket.
How’s that? I haven’t played a trash talking game in a while.
Email soon to follow. Gentlemen, begin your Dipping! Spring 1901 deadline is next Friday, February 14th, 7 pm Pacific/10 pm Eastern.
When you are sending orders, PLEASE include the game number (1099), your Power, and the season for which you are submitting orders in the subject line. This will make it much easier for me to pick out the emails that are for this game. Please use my primary email address: amolochko@attbi.com. If there are any difficulties with email, my alternate address is inthetank2001@yahoo.com. Please feel free to submit preliminary orders ahead of time.
In the case of mis-typed or improper orders, I will correct for obvious typos (unless it would create uncertainty) but other than that I will not fix problems. Please double-check your orders.
Interestingly enough, the three countries left after the four players with lists got their first or second choices were Austria, Italy, and Turkey. What colors are the cat treats I’ve got?
