Doper Picture Thread

Here are a few of me testing out my camera.

All right, I guess I’ll ante up:

Anniversary June 2007 (cropped out my missus to protect the innocent)

May 2007

A couple recent ones: the beard and makeup are both for a performance of Lizzie Borden (the opera, of course), in which I played the father.

Stay away from me lucky charms, Lizzie!
Put down the axe, Lizzie. I mean it!

I’m jealous!

Here’s the most recent picture of me from a month or two ago.

Here’s one after several days of camping.

Bonus image: How I draw myself in my dumb comic.

Here I am, but it’s not very recent.

Wow. Are you a guitarist?

I’d give my right arm for fingers like that…or something.

The hotties up in here have never looked better. These threads always remind me of how very lovely, interesting and smart the ladies are here.

I haven’t put one up in a while so I took a fresh pic.
See here prior to rating the credibility of my posts:

The sign says ‘SDMB 4/2008’.

You look like Jon Heder there.

That’s a very nice picture (and there’s no such thing as “excessively curly”).

This is me and the cat (I really don’t have any flattering pictures of myself)

Sent to the corner

Oh hell yeah, let’s kill someone by scaring them to death!

My honey and I last Xmas.

My first short haircut since I was about 10 (I was almost 40 in that pic, I think).

And just because there are so damned many great looking broads in this thread, here’s one of me in Aruba last year. And it ain’t even the hottest one!

I’ll bite here too…

At White Sands, NM.

At the Peppermill for a wedding reception… why yes, I had been drinking. a lot.

Me where I like to be.

Nice. Out of curiousity, is that the obnoxiously loud (as in, extraordinarily colorful) Peppermill in Reno? The one that hurts your eyes as soon as you step in the door?

Here’s some of me:

It is the Peppermill restaurant/Fireside Lounge in Las Vegas. The restaurant part is loudly colored, but the lounge looks like it’s trapped in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

WoOt- I love the 350z car- it’s the car i wish i could have!

What better way to celebrate my new membership than a few pictures!

Me looking more impressive at Guitar Hero than I actually am.

Me looking slightly evil with a cute dog.
A more recent picture with same dog. Still look evil, and dog still looks cute.

I honestly have no idea why I come out looking slightly evil in all pictures I take with that dog.

I’ve been rather wary of putting my picture and personal info online. Perhaps overly so, but I thought it best to err on the side of caution. However, the wife has started experimenting with putting photos online, so I asked her to put together a few of us, and I shall now take the plunge and show you what we look like. In the photos below, you can see how we’ve aged over the years.

You don’t have to open each one individually, but rather just click “Next” once you’re in the first one.

This is a very, very old photo of me and the girl who was destined to become Mrs. Siam Sam, on the Big Island of Hawaii. We had been dating for only three or four months, and this was our first trip together. We were both graduate students at the University of Hawaii’s main campus in Honolulu, which is on the island of Oahu.

Jumping ahead some years, here we are outside the town of Pokhara, Nepal, in October 1998, an old married couple by now. If you look closely, you can see the mountain called Machhapuchhare poking up out of the clouds. It sort of blends in with the clouds in this photo, being snow-capped. Looked more spectacular in person; this was pre-digital. Pokhara was the last time I spoke with my father, in a telephone call from a phone shop. He suffered an aneurysm the next month and was in a coma until he died five months later.

This is us on the Mekong River in northern Laos, October 2000. North of the old royal capital of Luang Prabang.

Here we are on the island of Kauai a few years ago during a return visit to Hawaii.

This is us on Thailand’s Samet Island about two years ago. Samet is in the Gulf of Thailand off our Eastern Seaboard, relatively close to Cambodia.

And here we are last May on the Great Wall of China.

And as a bonus, I’m on elephantback here, here (#4, the blue shirt on the left) and here (again on the left) for the 2006 King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament in the town of Bang Saen, in Chiang Rai province of northern Thailand. And any comments comparing my butt with the elephant’s butt in that middle photo will NOT be appreciated. :frowning:
