Doper Rally in Toledo, the Armpit of the Nation

it happened cause you were drinking…

Coulda fooled me at the Michigan get-together, Shadowfox…hehehehehehe…

Cristi, I only had three alcoholic drinks the entire evening, from 7:00 until 12:30-1:00. Three drinks in five and a half hours wouldn’t get most people drunk, but I was feeling a little tipsy nonetheless. I confess that there was about a 20 minute period of time around 9 or so when I was feeling pretty happy, but the buzz wore off rather quickly and I was cold sober by midnight. It had nothing to do with why we had to recruit Zenbeam to lead us back to the car. That is because I have always been very bad with directions, and my husband was kind of drunk. I realize that I probably came off as a big twit, but that was only because I was nervous. I swear, I will act closer to my age at the next meeting.

Shadow: Just kidding! I wish I could have had as many drinks as you, but I had to drive 60 miles home. As for directions, oh boy, do I ever feel your pain. The only reason I knew where I was going is because I actually used to live in Ann Arbor, and I worked just a few blocks from where we were.

BTW, it doesn’t take much to get me inebriated either. I don’t drink much at all, so sometimes all it takes to get me buzzed is simply ordering a beer.

Oh yeah–why would you ever want to act your age? Acting like a mature adult is boooo-ring!

Giving this a bump back up to the top.

My hubby was telling me yesterday that if I wanted to stay overnight, he had no problem with it. However, I do have to work on Sunday evening, so I will probably be leaving to go back home in the late morning/early afternoon. This way I can spend a few hours with my hubby and kids before going to work.

Gals, absolutely! Come to the museum with us! Ya wanna hear about a lightweight: that would be me? 'Member that single Hard Cider I had? Made my tongue numb…I know…sad state of affairs

You know girls, these confessions of alcohol lightweightedness could give the guys some very bad ideas

I have ordered a keg of Vodka and two gallons of scapolomine for mixers.

A keg, eh? That’s going to require a lot of olives!

Andrew, you’re terrible. Just for that…I’m gonna leave my husband at home. Heh.

Not. He’ll be there. However, I may actually have to (gasp) get up Sunday morning. My friend Lynne reminded me that Sunday is the day of our annual trek to Livonia, to a Barbie collectors show. Yeah, I collect Barbies. You guys can stop pointing and laughing now.

Anyway, we’ll probably stay overnight, but I won’t be able to do the museum thing. :frowning: BUT, I’ll stay up really, really late and engage in much debauchery

Cristi…yes I am terrible, but I’ve come to terms with it.

When I bought my house, I found a Barbie in the back yard garden. She is covered in dirt, but I like her liked her that way. She is yours if you want her.

Rats! No musueum for Cristi. Well, Shadow and hubby and I will go.

Uncle, I saw the link for your friend and thought I had posted a reply about his art (very nice) but I didn’t see it there; something weird must’ve happened on the board at that time. Anyway, didn’t want you to think I’d dis’d ya!

I live just far away enough from everything to make it extremely difficult to do. Sigh.

I was thinking–carpooling is probably out for us Michigan folks, but how about a caravan? We could meet somewhere & hitch the ol’ wagons together, like a circus train.

:::humming to self:::

we’ve got a great big convoy…

Milossarian, is distance the only factor that may be preventing you from making it? 'Cuz if it is, well, there’s ways of getting you there…hehehehe…

Seroiusly, if you want to go, maybe one of us other travelers could meet you at some halfway point & carry you the rest of the way? That way, at least you’ll get a real look at our faces before we show up at your house for the Summer Barbecue. The “wanted” posters at the post office don’t do any of us justice.

Funny you should mention this. My hubby suggested the very same thing to me a few days ago. We did something like this last summer when us and three other couples decided to drive to Gaylord for a camping trip. Since we all wanted to take our own vehicles, we ended up meeting at a halfway point between our respective homes and then drove in a caravan all the way up to the camping place. This actually sounds like a pretty good idea. The question, of course, is finding out where the halfway point would be for all of us.

I’m the Christopher Columbus in my family–I think I’m in one place, when in fact I am somewhere else. So I have no head for directions whatsoever.

However, if someone else will just tell me where to meet everyone, I can tell my husband, and he’ll get us there. It will just be my job to get us there on time. I swear on the Guy Stuff wombat, I’ll be there.

I’m sorry, that should be Grayling, not Gaylord.

Milossarian, may I make a suggestion? The nearest Doper to you is Cristi, who lives in Flint. However, that is still a 200 mile drive for you. Maybe you could leave the afternoon or evening before the event (March 31), drive down to the Flint area and hook up with Cristi and her hubby (stay with them or in a hotel, whichever is preferable to both parties), then you could all drive down the next day.

I like that idea, Shadowfox.

Hey Milo! If you’re listening, you’re welcome to crash at my pad, or ride partway down with us, or whatever. If you’re really, really nice, I’ll even feed you, and my husband would probably even be willing to hook up his gear and jam on the porch. Hell, I know he would. He enjoys that sort of thing.

This space blank, until Wally thinks up something cool to put here.
