I must confess, I’ve let my eyebrows go for several years. They’ve faded and just weren’t worth the bother. This last friday, I was at an Ulta’s and on the spur of the moment got it done. Oh, my goodness, my face suddenly changed. Although I’m quite overweight, I could see cheekbones and my face suddenly changed for the better. What beauty routines do you perform that provides the most bang for the pluck?
Curling my eyelashes. Instant wakeup look. Moistening hands, running along hairline to make a definite seperation instead of a melding of hair and skin.
Eyebrow maintenance is a definite plus. Mine are looking cavemanish about now and its bringing me down.
Nothing like a good eyebrow shaping to bring out the curves of my face.
Oh, wait. :smack:
Plucking my eyebrows into a narrower (but still natural) shape has saved me from the fate of my sister, who looks like she has two giant caterpillars over her eyes.
It also helps to make my eyes look less deeply set.
Yes, eyebrow shaping is important. However, I always do it myself, mainly because I never go to salons per se. Anyways, it does so much to change my face, I would definitely get it professionally done.
I look back at my 7th grade - 12th grade photos and just recoil in horror. I am not a Uni-Brow or have Caterpillars above my eyes, but they were undefined and discovering how to pluck and shape them really defines my face.
If I could go back in time to my 7th-12th grade self, I’d pluck my brows, even if I had to kneel on my chest to get it done.
*“Loook, you need to have this done…just sit still…”
“Who are you and why are you attacking me with those tweezers?”
" I am you in the future. I’ve come back to save you from years of really hideous pictures."
“Oh. Same freckles. Blue eyes look familiar…but…ummm…if you are me from the future, why am I so fat?”
“Because we let ourself go, kid. We let ourself go. But with proper plucking, we will still be redeeming in the civilised world.”
“Oh. Ok. Couldn’t be worse than mom dying my…I mean…our hair orange, right?”
Wax and color checking in here. I have very fair skin and in the past three years I started getting my brows colored (a light brown) and waxed. WOW definition to my face. When the color fades, there really is not definition as you can barely see my brows, they are so light. I just couldn’t see messing with a pencil every day, so color works great for me. Plus, while my beautician is coloring my brows, I look almost like Groucho Marx!!!
I only recently started getting my eyebrows done (past three years or so), and its made such a difference - my face has a much more open look about it, and considering I wear glasses, makes that area of my face look that much better.
There’s only one place I’ll get them done at though - the salon owned by a family friend back home.
I get them waxed and have just started getting them colored, even though they are already dark. What a difference! My eyes look bigger, I look more refined, younger, thinner. I look at my one sister and she looks like a cave lady because she doesn’t have them done at all and I look at my other sister and she looks silly because she does them herself and all she has is a line of single brow hairs. It’s money well spent, I’ll tell ya.
