Hey, I’ve been away from the boards for a little bit, but I see I was mentioned up top there, so I figured I’d check in. I’d planned on coming as soon as I had all that fun at SugarDope, but it’s likely I won’t be able to make it this time. The first two proposed weekends are in and about my final exams for school, the weekend of the 20th I’m probably moving my things back home in preparation for the fall, and the weekend of the 27th I’m flying to Belgium. (My next co-op job for school is there.)
There is some chance I’ll be able to come, but don’t move things around to accomodate me.
detop, the cruise thing looks good, but I’m just concerned about the price. Are there other cruise operations that are independent of the Old Port that might be less expensive?
There’s still the 3D IMAX thing that I’ve been bringing up every year like a broken record. Kind of lame, but based on past experience, I know that our little bunch can make anything wild and wacky.
To recap:
Friday dinner at a Mexican place, probably Three Amigos on Ste-Catherine. Followed by boozing or whatever. I think we’ve done enough bad karaoke at Club Date.
Saturday afternoon: TBD.
Saturday dinner: Hungarian place on Lincoln (somewhere between Atwater and Guy). Followed by boozing or whatever.
Sunday afternoon: Go pick up smoked meat at Schwartz’s (which will involve a walk either up or down The Main), then head to the Tam-tams for pot contact buzz. Or more.
We’ll start an itinerary/check-in thread about a week before the festivities. In the meantime, if you’ve suddenly decided to join us, please chime in here!
I’ll be there! Woo! Crashing at my brilliant co-collaborator’s place? I have a work function al lday Friday and into the evening, so I probably wont make the drive until Sat morning.
There’s always the bateau-mouche tours. I went on one today, showing some American friends my fair city and its wonders, and we all had a blast. Under $20 per person for a 1-hour ride with a bilingual tour guide.
I’ll call tomorrow to make the reservations. And scoot, some of the advantages of the Saturday afternoon cruise are :
[ul]
[li]it takes only about an hour (depending on the boat we take),[/li][li]it’s in Old Montreal[/li][li]IMAX 3D is in Old Montreal ;)[/li][li] there are other activities we haven’t done in Old Montreal (Science Center, etc.)[/li][/ul]
Perhaps we can coordinate it with a 3D show. I was at the science centre today and their scheduling (with the non-3D shows) is really fucked, especially if we want an English show.
After reservations are made, we can do an itinerary/last ditch plea for attendees thread.
Daerlyn: I can see how recent changes in your life would entail more things sticking out at you. Oops.
So I made the reservations. For Friday night the 20[sup]th[/sup] at 3 Amigos, on Ste-Catherine between St-Mathieu and Guy at 7 : 30, under the name of Cecil Adams and for Saturday night at Cafe Rococo, 1650 Lincoln at 7 : 00 also under the name Cecil Adams, I will go make the deposit for the reservation during the week-end.
I’m going to be out of touch for the next week and a half, but I’m still planning on being there. In fact, EonweMom may come too! I’m going to point her towards this thread, so behave yourselves!
